Cafe MadisonWonderful for Mother's Day DinnerAs always the the food was superb, and even with a reduced menu, there were several wonderful choices to please everyone. The price fix menu had many full size appetizers to choose from, including crab risotto, calamari, and lobster bisque. Then we each got a salad and choice of 7 entrees, including peppered sirloin, pork, Bronzino fish, swordfish and rosemary chicken. We took my mother and father and our two children 12 and 14. I would not recommend this place for small children or picky eaters. We had great service and I liked that we never felt rushed. The atmosphere there is very sophisticated but not stuffy. The grilled Romaine salad was very tasty and a nice change from the normal dinner salads. The Chilean Sea Bass was superb. Their new Spring Menu has some interesting steak and seafood choices. The service was great from the moment we walked in the door. I have eaten here about a half dozen times and have never been disappointed. A little pricy but well worth it. The Wine Cellar was the perfect spot for my BIG birthday gathering. The Café bar is the place to sit and enjoy great piano music while sipping on the bar's latest concoction. I order the lamb each visit and it is perfect every time. The wait staff is attentive without being overbearing.

I even saw the chef chatting with one table.
I always wish/look/hope for CRAFT beer to go with a steak, and since I asked, the staff was more than happy to go into the adjoining bar and accommodate my request for an IPA.
Overall, this is a the place to go when leaving the kids home for the night. When taking older folks out to eat, too much background noise is more than distracting - it makes the entire meal less enjoyable because you have to struggle to hear and concentrate. To my way of thinking, the piano music could have been even lower in volume and still been effective. Service was impeccable in a day and age when so many servers reach across customers or expect them to pass plates. Our server went out of her way, often around several tables to get from one side of our table to the other. She saw to our every need and ensured that we had a wonderful experience. Live piano music was the icing on the cake. Dinner was beyond our expectations - we were there for Restaurant Week and there were many good choices from appetizers to dessert. Service was impeccable by Joe our server. The lamb shank was delicious. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Chef Jack even took the time to suggest a proper wine for the lamb.
My only complaint is that we were seated right in front of the fireplace and the heat was uncomfortable. Usually during restaurant week the food is mass produced at some other restaurants, but we felt the food was delicious and inventive. Although I only live 20 min away, I never knew the town existed. I have been there 3 times now and have enjoyed it all 3 times. The food is delicious and the service was great!
