  • "My husband and I used to love this restaurant. We were very disappointed with the new menu and the fact that they offer no fish dishes unless you order from the new price fix menu. We were not permitted to pick and choose from either menu even after offering to pay an up charge. My husband's favorite dish, the delmonico has been taken off the menu. My favorite was the grilled caesar salad which was also taken off. The menu was getting stagnate, but these changes don’t make this restaurant a fine dining experience anymore. The chef & staff have plenty of talent so I’m not sure who made this decision or why."

  • "We dined during South Jersey Hot Chefs Restaurant Week. Their four course price fix menu is wonderful. Their seafood bisque is always great. The mussels were very good. My salmon was cooked to perfection. Desserts were delicious. The are now offering a regular price fix menu. We certainly will be back to try it."

  • "The food was delicious and we enjoyed the live piano player. It was a little noisy, but that was because it was so crowded, which was fine, but toward the end, our service diminished a bit, probably because it got so busy. Overall, a great experience."

  • "The perfect storm; Date night with my wife, restaurant week and The Madison. After being promptly seated we were happy to see Leo was our waiter again. Needless to say the service was impeccable. Now to the four course menu. We always share because we cannot not decide on which item we want the most. We started with the shrimp risotto and Thai Mussels, both spectacular. The salad was elegant with grapes, nuts and a very savory dressing. Out of character my wife ordered the filetmignon and I had the sword fish. We shared a little bit but I couldn't stop eating the swordfish (capers & tomatoes). After a glass of Petite Syrah and finishing with one peanut butter bombe and the other to take home we were very content. Thank you again Madison!"

  • "We enjoyed our appetizers, salads and then encountered a problem with one of the entrees. I had dorade cotto and looked up the word. I do not eat pork or meat so was surprised to find small diced pieces of something I suspected to be meat or ham. I asked the server clearing and she went to check. Another individual returned to say it was pork and that's what cotto meant. No apology and we left feeling let down. The beans did not taste or smell like they had this added. She didn't seem to get that this was upsetting to me. Desserts disappointing and after I made the comment about the unwelcome ingredient service changed. VERY DARK. Used cellphone flash for food."

Turned out to be outstanding. . . the food was excellent and the four-course meal for $35 was plenty for each of us, and we both arrived hungry. The staff, from hostess to waitress to busboys, were personable and accommodating. Just an incredibly pleasant experience. We WILL be back."

  • "Our waiter was so slow and unattentive during the whole meal. Had to wait an extra 15 mins just for our check. This is the first time I've ever given a tip below 15%. I don't think we'll be back for a long time which is sad because the food is excellent."

  • "Beautiful decor; menu was great--best dishes were mushroom ravioli (heaven!), salmon, peanut butter pie. Crustless cheesecake was too light for our taste. Creme brûlée was excellent. Salads with candied walnut and craisins were quite good. Although perfectly cooked, the rack of lamb and the filet were unremarkable and could have used additional seasoning and/or sauce. We were surprised by the pretentiousness of not having salt or pepper on any of the tables. However, our fabulous waiter, Scott, was quick to bring some to the table. Service was among the best we've ever had, and friendly. Despite the minor issues with the meats, we would definitely eat here again. Overall, this was very good."

  • "Beautiful, dramatic restaurant in Riverside?. More like NYC. The dining room took our breath away. My wife ordered from the ala-carte menu. & I choose the 4 course menu ($35.!). The manager suggested the perfect wine. The apps were incredible. .Ahi Tuna for my 4 course dinner. Colossal shrimp & crab cocktail from the ala care side for my wife. The optional tableside prepared Caesar Salad was spectacular in taste & impression. For my entree I choose petit filet which was beyond delicious .It was incredible as was my wife's 16 oz. lobster tail. The dinner dessert was too good to not finish. I choose Peanut Butter Pie. The ala carte wife a triple layer chocolate cake with ice cold milk shots. WE ARE COMING BACK AND BRINGING FRIENDS!"

We had six for dinner, all ordered from the Prix Fixe menu and there was nothing but ohhs and ahhs when the food arrived. I'm sorry there are only 5 stars to rate this place. It was phenomenal and I can wait to return. Kudos to the Chef!!!! Great entrainment as well by vocalist Lou Dottoli"

  • "Didn't realize at the time reservations were made for Valentines day that the menu selections would be reduced significantly. Didn't like my crab cakes and my husband's filet was inferior (chewy). Music was so loud, we were unable to carry on a conversation without shouting at one another."

  • "First time we've eaten here. Waiter took FOREVER. We were half-way thru our meal when we noticed other people had bread at their table w/ olive oil dipping herbs. Never once did they bring to our table, but didn't notice everyone else had until our meal was almost over. Just a small detail, but we love bread, so that was disappointing. Seen our waiter maybe once throughout our entire meal to check on us. Brought us the check and then after waiting half an hour for him to come and get it, I had to get up and go find him. Won't ever go back."

  • "I live in the area and did not expect such a fine dining experience like I usually get in Philadelphia. The food was excellent, steaks cooked to our liking, the lobster was succulent, and the crab cakes were delicious. We ordered off the prix fixe and the regular menu, and we were graciously accommodated. The waiter was extremely attentive and never had to wait for anything. I will definitely go again."

  • "As always, the food and wine at Cafe Madison were very good. The ambience ended up being unspectacular as we were seated in the nondescript banquet room instead of in the more spectacular regular dining room. They opened up the banquet room to handle their large Valentine's Day crowd. It took 20 minutes for a server to pay attention to us and even then we had to flag one down. However, after this initial delay, the service was very good. They also had a very good dance band that made for an enjoyable evening. A rose and heart-shaped box of chocolates delivered by the maitre d' to each of the ladies added a nice touch."

  • "My wife and I went for our Valentine dinner. Food was great. Service was horrible. Regretfully, we were not the only ones. We had to ask for water (twice) and could not get a refill. Food was brought out not as requested. Even a simple thing like bringing silverware for dessert and coffee was a problem. If it wasn't for the quality of the food, we would never go back!"

  • "We have been to Madison Cafe many times and during many seasons and have always had the best food and the best service. The restaurant is beautiful and they have great live music. There is a piano player in the bar area and then live music to dance. It is sort of a place like no other. Where can people in their 30's, 40's and older go to enjoy a great dinner and dancing. If a guy is looking for a great place for a date, look no further. We just went for Valentine's Day and they really did it well. The set menu offered many options, we got a complimentary glass of champagne, every woman got a rose and a box of chocolates. And we all danced. It was just great. They outdoor area with a fireplace is great for all seasons."

  • "We haven't written a review previously regarding The Madison because we wanted to keep it a secret. Hadn't been there in a while, the place is still beautiful, the people who work there are still friendly; but the new menu appears to be their best to date. We are used to paying $40-$50 for a top-end steak at other places; or pay less and get horse meat elsewhere. We were surprised to see "the good steaks" on the menu all for less than $40. WE WILL BE BACK!"

  • "We wanted to see Don't Call me Francis and we went for dinner first. We liked the new menu, although it does have limited selections. I went with the Lobster Tail and a salad from the ala carte menu. My husband had the new 4 course meal. He choose the chicken which he would never really order out. He usually chooses a meat, veal, fish,pork. Nothing else really was for him. He likes his steak well done and it was recommended to order it medium to rare. He wouldn't order meat for this reason. He did enjoy his calamari and brought home his dessert for later. It was very noisy because of a party of about 10 ladies who were quite loud. We were in the front by the window and they were closer to the kitchen but they disturbed us."

The bottle of Merlot they suggested was perfect. We will be back soon to try the a la carte lobster tail and prime steaks!"

  • "Menu looked great! I Ordered the 16 oz. Rock Lobster tail but it did not taste good. Had a strange taste to it. Waiter said they had no other complaints about it but the tail I received had a "frozen too long" taste or something was just off. I love lobster and lobster tails and order them all the time so I know a good one when I get it. However, they did replace it with the 10 oz. Prime Cut Filet Mignon which I asked them to prepare medium rare and it was overcooked and the favor was no big deal. My partner however loved his price fix meal which was Twin 3 oz. Filet mignons, salad and escargots and chocolate cake for desert. They were very busy that night so they get a pass on my meal. I would like to give it a second chance."
