Cafe LuxembourgClassy room - consistent great foodThis is a very special NYC restaurant, always consistent and well managed. The quality of food is exceptional. Service is generally good, and depending on your server, exceptional. I have had some of the absolute best waiters ever there, and then some that are fine, but un-exceptional. Other than that uncertainty, everything else is top notch!
I like to make an event of dining at Cafe Lux, and plan to visit there many more times!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat reunionIt was great coming back to CL after moving away from the city seberal years ago. Everything stays the same - in the best possible manner. Super evening!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExtremely pleasant, good food,Extremely pleasant, good food, great service, fun place. No wonder it is still " in " after thirty years!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFor years Cafe LuxembourgFor years Cafe Luxembourg has been an Upper West Side favorite because it is excellent in every way. It has the ambience of a genuine Parisian bistro with a suitably U.S.-adapted menu. What it does not have is the sometimes indifferent -- and at other times, downright hostile -- service of a Parisian bistro. The staff seems to be specially selected for servers who are friendly, funny, and helpful. On top of that, the food is delicious without being pretentious. It is the perfect place for a late breakfast/early lunch; for pre- and post-theater (Lincoln Center is a mere five-minutes' walk away); and for everything in between. One of my favorite New York venues, although I have to travel across town to experience its many pleasures.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy! Not a huge menu but the selections offered are done well. Quite yummy!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMclassic....reliable, classic, perfect moules.... i could eat here every night.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMIt works out.C. L. provides the visitor an authentic taste of N.Y.C. It says, "We/I are/am who we/I am/are. No pretense. We put before you the best we are. Service has always been efficient, friendly and helpful, while retaining a good note of professional formality. Food is of high natural quality, imaginatively composed and presented. I particularly like the Cafe before the opera. They pair well.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMTOO CLOSE FOR COMFORTCAFE "l" HAS DELICIOUS FOOD AND DELICIOUS/FRIENDLY SERVICE BUT THE NOISE AND CLOSENESS OF THE TABLES COULD MAKE ONE CLAUSTROPHOBIC!!! AFTER BEING SQUEEZED INTO MY SPACE i DECIDED TO MOVE TO A LOCATION OPPOSITE THE BAR WHICH WAS EMPTY AT THE TIME-THAT WORKED OUT EXTREMELY WELL-COULD HEAR MY GUEST-4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a pleasure to duneAlways a pleasure to dune at Cafe Luxembourg! Although the restaurant is always busy, I never feel rushed or neglected. Looking forward to going back!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely our favorite forAbsolutely our favorite for Sunday Brunch or a casual meal at other times. Superb ambiance, great food and drink reasonably priced, and excellent service!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat. as always. The serverGreat. as always. The server was particularly adept at being present without being intrusive, a great feat considering the table was a larger than normal crowd with many cross conversations running.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe noise level is quite high...beyThe noise level is quite high...beyond "vibrant". There should be a way to enter"LOUD".4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMif neighbors are LOUD itsif neighbors are LOUD its annoying - but thankfully no music that makes it harder to enjoy the company - otherwise a very very nice experience -4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was good, the serviceThe food was good, the service was excellent. We told the restaurant we had Philharmonic tickets for 7:30. They made sure to take our orders promptly and served the food quickly, but without making us feel rushed.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is the main draw; everythingFood is the main draw; everything was delicious, with a varied menu. Appetizers are generous and can be shared. I had a crab cake
appetizer with frites and some tastes of others' appetizers and this was plenty of food! Our daughter ordered ONE oyster to be frugal, but the waiter brought six and said the other five were on the house. Desserts were very good though my taste of the Boston Cream Pie was a bit disappointing...too much vanilla-flavored cake, not enough cream. Like most other good restaurants, cocktails and wine by the glass are very expensive but not as much as ordering wine by the bottle. I find the overpricing of wine outrageous...it isn't exactly a good way to hook people on drinking good wine. The markups are 500%!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite spot on upper west sideThe food is delicious. My lunch companion and I both had the Cobb Salad, which may sound boring, but it was elegant and so "French." This restaurant has been a favorite of mine since the 1980's and is still as great.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal, good service,Great meal, good service, did have to send my entree (Arctic Char) back as it was too rare but otherwise we all were very pleased.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMsitting in the back is alwayssitting in the back is always very noisy.........particularly with a screaming child screaming behind you and no one suggesting she be taken out of the restaurant until she has suitable indoor behavior4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was outstanding. The service was outstanding. I loved my pasta with lobster. The lobster was not really very flavorful but overall the pasta and sauce were great!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCafe Luxembourg is still aCafe Luxembourg is still a West Side gem, and one of the few excellent restaurants between Lincoln Center and W. 72nd Street. It's been around since the early 80s but still feels pleasantly trendy without being snooty. The staff is professional, friendly, helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable about the wine list and of course the menu itself. Oysters on the half shell is one of the best reasons to go, and we were not disappointed in the Belons we ordered, although they are pricy at $24 for a half dozen. The frites are hot, crispy, and salty. Traditional duck a l'orange is very good also. I love the sophisticated but casual ambiance, even the tightly-packed-together tables.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAn authentic French bistroAn authentic French bistro on the UWS, but more civilized than its Parisian counterparts.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is consistentlyThe food here is consistently good and the ambience is very French, like an old-style bistro. It's a bit pricey, though, otherwise, a warm and satisfying experience. On Friday nights, very crowded, had to wait for a table even with a reservation. On Sunday night, less crowded, more inviting.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent cuisine, professionallyExcellent cuisine, professionally served, great atmosphere, reasonable prices.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWill be back!Top notch service and the food was wonderful! The French onion soup was my favorite part of my meal but the duck and bouillabaisse was also spectacular! Just remember to get a postcard of their famous advertisement of three bare bottom ladies at the lunch counter!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot!Took clients here two days in a row. A great spot. Very vibrant, bustling, noisy, bistro atmosphere. Terrific.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and withinExcellent food and within easy walking distance of our hotel (Lucerne).3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNora Ephron would still be proudGood food, good service. Fun UWS place, great for people watching including an occasional lunch time parade of hipper, older movie stars who inhabit the area and are happily left to their own privacy and buzzing conversation with their colleagues and friends. Many gathered here after Nora Ephron's Memorial Service [I happened to be there by accident] and it seems many all had the same "surprising" idea to lunch there that afternoon in honor of the late screen-writer.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service.Excellent food and service. The only drawbacks are that the tables are very close to each other and the noise level tends to rise to quite a din when the place if fully occupied.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFor the past 20+ years NEVERFor the past 20+ years NEVER DISAPPOINTED!!!! A true bistro with food you' want to make at home but you don't have to.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Upper West Side fixture,An Upper West Side fixture, the food is good; service OK and the ambiance is priceless. Food is excellent French bistro fare with seafood and meat selections, all prepared with wonderful flavors. Masala mussels had a nice kick and tasty broth. Fish and chips were very crunchy and not oily, mediterranean sea bass was moist and well seasoned. Perfiterols for dessert were delicious, with your choice of ice cream inside. The wait staff is very attentive, accommodating and friendly.12/12/2012 12:00:00 AMAlways satisfyingExcellent service, and the food never disappoints. This is also a very good location if you're trying to make a curtain at Lincoln Center.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWent with our cousins fromWent with our cousins from San Francisco, very well travelled gourmands. We all had a great time. Finding a brunch spot during Passover when we weren't going to miss all the bread, pancakes, muffins, etc.was going to be challenge. Some of us are also following Weight Watchers. There was no deprivation at our table as we enjoyed salads, omelettes, tuna and chicken paillaird, indulged in the potatoes, and enjoyed our wine and coffees.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was wonderful aboutEverything was wonderful about the dinner, but waitstaff particularly attentive!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
