The food is excellent - salmon is yummy, miso seabass is exquisite, burgers are great quality, salads are very good, and the sugar snap peas and french fries are both out of this world. The wine list is excellent, as are the mixed drinks. In the summer, the patio is the place to eat. In the winter, the dining room is beautiful and has a New York vibe. Fell in love with the raw oysters They even gave my 6-yr old a custom made dish. He wanted to order shrimp but it wasn't on the menu. The waitress asked me how many would he like and how he like to eat them - Wahla!! She brought out an order of cooked shrimp just the way he liked them (garlic butter sauce). They were excellent. Whenever I'm in Minnesota, I will definitely revisit Cafe & Bar Lurcat. The service wasn't bad but it seemed like the waitress was trying to turn tables and it was a slow night for them. She asked the right questions all too often and would barely finish a sentence and be two tables down.

We were recommended to Cafe Lurcat by a local and we were so glad we decided to try it out. The waiter was great with explaining the menu, helping us choose a wine and in making suggestions when asked. Every dish we ordered was really flavorful and prepared to perfection from the appetizers and salads to steaks and an order of profiteroles for dessert. The service was fantastic without being obtrusive and we walked out saying it was the best meal any of us had enjoyed in a while. The wonderful assortment of dishes are served family style, so you are not shuttling back and forth to a buffet to fill your plate. There is a craft table set up for the kids, just in case they get squirrelly. We had 7 in our group and had a great time. Service was friendly but a little scattered, but it was really busy in there at that time. Our food was served family style at the table, and everyone enjoyed it. The restaurant was beautiful, and they had a kids' area set up with coloring and balloons - great idea! They also have valet parking, which was great for family who met us there that weren't familiar with the area. Our server mentioned that Sunday night is "date night," so we are going back to check that out. A guest in our party of six has hearing difficulties and was going to have to leave, since she couldn't participate in the conversations. The host very kindly found and set up a table for us in the blissfully quiet middle dining room (even though we had already been seated in the main dining room and service had started). It was a delightful evening for a group of out-of-towners; made me very proud of the home team. It is in an old refurbished area of an urban area in Minneapolis. The food was outstanding. The only thing a little odd was the anise flavor in the lobster ravioli. The description on the menu said "herbs" but if a chef is going to put anise into a lobster pasta I thought it should have been disclosed. My daughter hated it but I didn't think it was too bad. The Baby beets, grapefruit and chicory salad was the most unbelievably delicious salad we've ever tasted!!! The Chilean sea bass with miso was excellent as was the apple/cheese and chive salad. I ordered the hanger steak and tasted the ahi tuna and scallops. All were first rate. The service was slow. The server did provide some good info on some of the dishes offered, but seemed to lose touch with our table of 10 throughout the dinner. The restaurant acknowledged the long wait for dinner by providing unsolicited, complemenatary desserts for the table. I would recommend Cafe Lurcat for a special night out.
