Diner Reviews
  • "We love this place. Date night on Sunday is quite possible the best deal in town. Highly recommend."
    Dined on 8/17/2014
  • "Date night for busy foodie parents....were not sure we would come back after a so-so appetizer (tuna tartare) and salad (bacon, lettuce, tomato). Both dishes looked great but tasted just okay. However, the main course is our new favorite anywhere! Out of this world. (7 oz beef tenderloin w mushrooms). Fries and dessert (chocolate profiteroles) were the same as the app and salad (okay, but no wow factor). Great service, ambiance, wine menu."

  • "I have been here several times and it never disappoints. The food is excellent!"

  • "We had Pot Roast and Sea Bass, and it was terrific. Crab cake appetizer was a bit too salty, but was good (not excellent). Very nice restaurant....definitely will return."

  • "I absolutely love, love, love Lurcat! Easily one of the best restaurants in Mpls! It's like going home! The fabulous location and ambiance is so calming and welcoming! The Sea Bass is to die for! Yum! The staff very professional! Can't say enough!"

  • "Great find! We enjoyed the food and vibe very much. Udon noodles with Chinese barbecued chicken was wonderful."
    Dined on 8/14/2014
  • "The food was okay (great roasted cauliflower), but it took forever to be served and there were only 4 of us."

  • "This was truly disappointing. I chose to try this place over the neighborhood Ruths Chris and Capital Grille as I love sea bass and got a recommendation for Cafe Lucrat instead of my staples. Sadly, I couldn't enjoy a thing due to the longest wait for all food I have ever experienced. It was absolutely horrendous. The waiter and manager apologized, but in the end only offered free dessert, which we didn't even want. I sadly will not be recommending this place nor returning ever again. Capital Grille the next day was absolutely incredible, making me wish even more I had stuck to my guns when visiting. Next time I am in town, I will know."

  • "The sea bass is undoubtedly the best fish in MPLS."

  • "Café Lurcat is a true gem in the Twin Cities area. I celebrated my bachelorette dinner there, our rehearsal dinner and have had dinners out and have NEVER EVER been disappointed, nor has anyone I went with. The food is devine. Everything is top-notch. The service is very good and go above and beyond in order to make your experience an fantastic one."

  • "After reading the reviews we expected this spot to be a flawless spot to celebrate our anniversary. Overall it was pretty good but, there were a couple of disappointments. Our main dishes of filet and sea bass were good but, one of the sides of sautéed zucchini (at $9.00!) was totally bland and boring and essentially still raw. Also the desert of triple profiterole was far too salty. Had a cocktail of passion fruit and mango that sounded great but, turned out to be just o.k. Overall, the meal didn't quite live up to the hype and high cost and the restaurant was very noisy for our liking."

  • "We wanted a romantic restaurant, price no object. We had forgotten how loud and noisy it is. Conversation is not possible. We will never go again. There are many other choices in the Twin Cities."

  • "First time dining at Cafe Lurcat. Back patio is quaint with European feel. Sea bass and halibut were outstanding. Service was perfect."

  • "Sunday Date Night at Cafe Lurcat - great food, great value (3 course+bottle of wine+tax+tip=less than $70!). However, table of 6 with reservations at 6:45pm, we left the restaurant at 9:30pm. Overall, it was wonderful and will be returning soon!"

  • "The bar was a little too noisy but the restaurant was better and the food and service were great"
    Dined on 8/2/2014
  • "As always the food at Cafe Lucrat was tasty -- but unlike previous times the staff seemed distracted, confused and not present during interactions. Even when reviewing specials and options the waiter was looking around the room and paying only partial attention to our questions. We had an initial cocktail in the bar area and it took over 20 minutes for wait staff to recognize we were there. There were several larger parties that may have added to the distraction but our experience was negatively impacted by the staff."

  • "We had eaten at a sister restaurant in Naples, Fl and enjoyed it. The Minneapolis version was excellent and we had an enjoyable time. I would recommend sitting at an outside table."

  • "Went for our anniversary. Had the greatest meal- pork chop was awesome and the pot roast is one of the best dishes in the city! Can't beat the french fries and roasted carrots. We always say after we eat there- "it doesn't get better than this!""

  • "We had a customer meeting here and it was a great place. The service was top notch! From the Valet to Kristy our server! Food was very creative and great tasting. I had the Apple salad, which is awesome a salad with no lettuce! Sea Bass that they are known for which met very high expectations and the the cauliflower, which I have never seen served anywhere else but it was very good. Minneapolis is a downtown that is easily accessible but Cafe Lurcat has got to the easiest restaurant in Minneapolis to get in and out of."

  • "Cafe Lurcat is always excellent. The patio is calming, service always good, food interesting and tasty(but not too weird which seems like a trend lately, making food that doesn't really seem like food)."

  • "We scoured the Minneapolis area restaurants to find one that would have the upscale metro-vibe for a 21st birthday dinner and drinks. Lurcat was a brilliant choice. The food is always great, the space and service are both excellent. It rivaled many of the places we've eaten in NYC. Lurcat also has a "Date Night" menu for $50/person on Sunday nights - a nice surprise and delicious. We highly recommend Lurcat."

  • "Very disappointed in the dining experience. We tried this restaurant for restaurant week, not knowing that this "deal" was not worth the money. The appetizer was only 3 bites, small bites, and was not very good. The entree was low quality and undercooked. The entrees listed online were not on the menu. The dessert was fantastic. On the wine menu, there are 2 prices - a tasting and a full glass. When I ordered a glass on Pinot, they asked if I want the smaller glass or the larger glass. I said the larger - not knowing I was being tricked in to purchasing a double order. My glass of wine was $24 and was the size of a regular pour at any other restaurant."

  • "After hearing about this restaurant we had high expectations and were blown away as these expectations were exceeded. The food and the exemplary service at Cafe Lurcat is worth a trip. It is a great date night dining option and it also has a beautiful outdoor dining option. Very European in atmosphere."

  • "Had a great experience here during restaurant week. The apple and chive salad is to die for. They even brought my boyfriend an extra dessert for free (we already ordered two through restaurant week menu) because it was his birthday."

  • "It's hard to rate this experience fair because the food was excellent, our server was excellent but there was one glitch. We ordered an appetizer & after 20 minutes of waiting we asked the server if our appetizer was on its way. She went back, checked & came back to tell us the appetizer is on its way. About 5 minutes later our appetizer came, I'm assuming the order didn't get put in or the kitchen didn't cook it. This was not a huge deal but then our food came 2 minutes after our appetizer came. So now we each had two plates in front of us while we ate our appetizer, our main dish was getting cold. The server was very nice but we brought people here because we wanted to show them the restaurant scene--this wasn't a great impression."

  • "We sat on the patio, situated between 2 buildings. It reminded us of our visit to Italy. With the exposed brick walls. Very quiet patio. Wonderful experience."

  • "Last minute reservation with recommendations from two local MSP friends. Food did not disappoint. Took advantage of restaurant week menu and everything was tasty. Wine reasonably priced. Crab cake from appetizer menu was tasty, but you do just get one."

  • "Location and patio were excellent, had a nice European feel. Food was tasty but overpriced. Glad we dined during restaurant week to keep costs down."

  • "We started out with cocktails and appetizers at a Lowry Hill area restaurant to get our celebration night started. I wanted an upscale romantic dinner destination with excellent food, great service to celebrate our 25th. Lurcat delivered!"

  • "Been to Cafe Lucrat once before and really enjoyed it. So when I saw they were part of restaurant week, I snipped up a reservation. The dining area was clean and organized and made me feel like I was in a sophisticated place. Servers are competent of the menu and energetic, but aren't pushy and don't try to constantly upsell. The sea bass is the bomb - great flavor, flakey, sweet and salty sauce. Love it. If you have a chance to get the fries, they're awesome as well. If you think you're party of 4 is going to get out of there for less than $200, you're mistaken. With one drink, dinner and tip, you're looking at right around $50 per person. Is if worth it if you want good food? In my opinion - hell yeah! Jeans and a nice shirt will do."

  • "We went for restaurant week . I love restaurant week because it's a great way to try out these higher end restaurants and know you'll love the food before spending the full amount. The menu was fantastic! Some restaurants put out smaller dishes when they do these 3 course prix-fix menu, but I've got to tell you, Lurcat had a gigantic dessert I wasn't sure I could finish. I loved everything and the service was pretty awesome as well. Our waiter was just the perfect combination of friendly and attentive without being annoying. Can't wait to go back!"
