Diner Reviews
  • "Cafe Lurcat is always excellent. The patio is calming, service always good, food interesting and tasty(but not too weird which seems like a trend lately, making food that doesn't really seem like food)."

  • "The food is fantastic and the service is impeccable. I honestly can't recall the last time I've had such high quality customer service, reason enough to come back again and again."

  • "I'm not sure how long it's been here but I gave been in MSP for 32 years and this was my first visit. Absolutely amazing!!! It was funky and cool! The food and service were amazing. I highly recommend. We will be back."

  • "THIS TALENTED STAFF HAS SUCCESSFULLY AND OUTSTANDINGLY DELIVERED THE ULTIMATE IN A DINING EXPERIENCE. DETAILS, TALENT, IMAGINATION, SKILL AND ARTFULL DELIVERENCE OF QUALITY. THE EXECUTIVE CHEF HERE SHOULD BE WRITING HIS OWN TICKET.......... ONLY CIA MASTERS COULD COMPETE WITH THE PRODUCT AT CAFE LURCAT."

  • "Very disappointed in the dining experience. We tried this restaurant for restaurant week, not knowing that this "deal" was not worth the money. The appetizer was only 3 bites, small bites, and was not very good. The entree was low quality and undercooked. The entrees listed online were not on the menu. The dessert was fantastic. On the wine menu, there are 2 prices - a tasting and a full glass. When I ordered a glass on Pinot, they asked if I want the smaller glass or the larger glass. I said the larger - not knowing I was being tricked in to purchasing a double order. My glass of wine was $24 and was the size of a regular pour at any other restaurant."

  • "After hearing about this restaurant we had high expectations and were blown away as these expectations were exceeded. The food and the exemplary service at Cafe Lurcat is worth a trip. It is a great date night dining option and it also has a beautiful outdoor dining option. Very European in atmosphere."

  • "It's hard to rate this experience fair because the food was excellent, our server was excellent but there was one glitch. We ordered an appetizer & after 20 minutes of waiting we asked the server if our appetizer was on its way. She went back, checked & came back to tell us the appetizer is on its way. About 5 minutes later our appetizer came, I'm assuming the order didn't get put in or the kitchen didn't cook it. This was not a huge deal but then our food came 2 minutes after our appetizer came. So now we each had two plates in front of us while we ate our appetizer, our main dish was getting cold. The server was very nice but we brought people here because we wanted to show them the restaurant scene--this wasn't a great impression."

  • "We sat on the patio, situated between 2 buildings. It reminded us of our visit to Italy. With the exposed brick walls. Very quiet patio. Wonderful experience."

  • "Last minute reservation with recommendations from two local MSP friends. Food did not disappoint. Took advantage of restaurant week menu and everything was tasty. Wine reasonably priced. Crab cake from appetizer menu was tasty, but you do just get one."

  • "Location and patio were excellent, had a nice European feel. Food was tasty but overpriced. Glad we dined during restaurant week to keep costs down."

  • "We started out with cocktails and appetizers at a Lowry Hill area restaurant to get our celebration night started. I wanted an upscale romantic dinner destination with excellent food, great service to celebrate our 25th. Lurcat delivered!"

  • "We went for restaurant week . I love restaurant week because it's a great way to try out these higher end restaurants and know you'll love the food before spending the full amount. The menu was fantastic! Some restaurants put out smaller dishes when they do these 3 course prix-fix menu, but I've got to tell you, Lurcat had a gigantic dessert I wasn't sure I could finish. I loved everything and the service was pretty awesome as well. Our waiter was just the perfect combination of friendly and attentive without being annoying. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We went to Cafe Lurcat for a nice dinner on a Sunday night. The restaurant looked to be about 50% full at most, yet it took around 2 hours to complete our meal. None of the orders (drinks, appetizers, main course, dessert) came promptly; We waited close to 30 minutes for appetizers and another 30 minutes after we were done eating them just to be served a luke warm steak. Mind you, the steak was good, but it seemed like it had been sitting out waiting for us at least half of the time we were waiting for it. I've had good experiences there before but this was not one of them. Service needs to improve, especially considering the bill..."

  • "What a great restaurant week menu! Amazing. I had been there several times with work groups but my husband had not. We had a great Sunday night.. loved it. The special chocolate dessert made for rest week was DELICIOUS!"

  • "Yes, there are all sort of "foodie" places in the warehouse district but this downtown/Loring Park restaurant is one of the best serving wonderfully creative but still fairly traditional fare. If you're tired of being served up cheap cuts of offal, etc. Cafe Lurcat is for you. Also duly noted: noise level is fairly quiet. What is with these trendy and fairly expensive venues with the pounding music and diners practically yelling to talk with their table mates? Older people-the ones with money to dine out frequently- are turned off and seek restos with an atmosphere suitable for fine dining."

  • "I surprised my hubby with a special dinner for his 50th birthday at Cafe Lurcat. Our meals were both delish and the BLT salad was to die for as well as our desserts. It's such a pretty place to dine at. Ask for a window table and you can watch the people enjoying the park and the fancy cars coming to the valet. ;-)"

  • "Cafe Lurcat is one of the best restaurant in Minneapolis. The food is better than great, I love what chef and his team are able to accomplish. Fresh local product with a great execution. Everything is very tempting on Cafe Lurcat menu but I will definitively recommend the goat cheese salad. You can not pass on the Sea bass their specialty and go for the Lobster linguini with the squid ink, mouth watering...Cuisine was great but service was excellent. Our server Kristi was wonderful from the begin to the end of our experience. Very professional and not intrusive at all. Kristi did anticipated all our needs with a big smile. We will definitively come back. Thank you to all the Cafe Lurcat team for a wonderful evening."

  • "From the minute you walk into the restaurant, you are greeting warmly by every person that you come into contact with. That attention to service carries on throughout the meal. The food presents beautifully, and is so flavorful. We are never disappointed when we order new dishes, that reflect seasonal items. Love this restaurant."

  • "We had a fantastic window seat. Our service was outstanding - loved our waitress - Kristi! She was very willing to explain all the dishes, had a great personality, and best of all -there was no pressure to order, hurry, etc. The food was excellent!"

  • "Café Lurcat never disappoints! When a restaurant packs people in on a Thursday evening, you know it's good. This place is a classy without being stuffy. Our server Kristi remembered us from our last visit, and even remembered that we sat one table back on that visit. We booked early seating and chose a table close to the kitchen so I can watch the action. My husband and I split the apple/Manchego cheese salad per usual. Combined with the fabulous bread, it's a must have on every visit. Our main course was Hanger Steak, potato puree and sautéed asparagus... my go-to menu staples. From the first to last bite, everything, including food presentation, was perfect. Can't wait for our next visit."

  • "As usual Cafe Lurcat exceeds expectations. Amazing food and the Sunday Date Night deal is just an absurd value considering the quality of food you get in return"

  • "We have been to Lurcat several times and have never had a less than ideal experience. We were 30 minutes late for our reservation time, called ahead to let them know we were running behind and Micheal said it would not be an issue. Justin our server was great with his suggestions and service and the food again was outstanding. I would highly recommend."

  • "We took some friends to this restaurant that were visiting from out of town. We were asked if we wanted to be seated in the back patio area. We had never dined on their back patio, and were presently surprised. If we would not have known it, we would have thought we were at a street café in Italy. The brick walled area was quite secluded and was very quiet, which was great so we could catch up with news from our friends. The food and service were excellent. It was one of the more enjoyable dining experiences we have had in this area. We could not have asked for more."

  • "I always enjoy this restaurant although my wife thinks it is a bit noisy. Elegant, all white interior. Expansive view overlooking Loring Park. Food is beautifully prepared and perfectly presented. Halibut was extraordinary. Service is perfect. Everyone is served simultaneously. They don't bother you with unnecessary questions like, "How were the first few bites?" Or, my favorite, when looking at an empty plate: "Are you finished?" My Opentable request to seat us by the windows was honored."

  • "After the two scallops fiasco last time, Lurcat redeemed themselves. Without going into great detail, there was a problem with our meal. Both the waiter AND the manager immediately took action to remedy the problem and instead of ruining our evening, it still made it a pleasurable time. Most outfits might have barely rescued themselves from the problem, but how they went above and beyond ensures we'll continue to visit Lurcat, especially on their Date Night."

  • "We had never been there before. Just so happened to pick Sunday when they had the Date Night special. Great stuff. Would highly recommend. The Sunday Date deal is a good deal, portions are a bit smaller but not ridiculously small by any means. We left happy :)"

  • "Café Lurcat is our 2nd favorite fine dining experience in the Twin Cities. However, it was only OK last week. Our salads took an hour to arrive, but they did comp. these and apologize. The lamb shoulder pappardelle was very good and my wife's tuna as well. The deserts were just OK. The spice cake had a nice flavor but the huckleberry ice cream was bland. My wife's Chocolate was OK, but I can compare it to a milk chocolate Hershey's bar versus a rich Ghiardelli dark chocolate bar. We go to Corner Table often as our favorite restaurant in town. Maybe we have become spoiled? Unfortunately they weren't open last week due to staff vacation. Really unfortunate. We'll probably give Lurcat another try in the future before writing it off."

  • "Had a fantastic date night here. The food was really, really good all the way around. I'm not normally a crab cake person, but they had a Dijon sauce that was awesome. I love Dijon so that helps, but it was great anyway. We split the roast beef entree and also a salad with bacon and blue cheese. Also split the mini donut desert. Awesome as well - especially with espresso. Even loved the fresh bread and whipped butter. Ordered a second. Service was great. Andrew was our server. Parking after 6 on a Saturday - FREE. Had a great night."

  • "Husband and I tried out Lurcat for a much needed date night out without the kids. The cafe is very fancy, and romantic. The wine list is lengthy, but we decided to order cocktails. Both were very good. We decided to split an appetizer, side and the beef tenderloin. The portions are huge, mother than the $14 crab cake that came to us burnt. After quietly saying something, our server immediate (seriously, we were weirded out by how fast it happened) brought us a replacement that was delicious. The tenderloin was to die for, but I probably wouldn't spend the money on it again. Overall Lurcat was good, but for the money, we will probably be going elsewhere on special occasions."
