Diner Reviews
  • "I really don't understand the bad reviews. I have eaten here before and it's always been excellent. This place wouldn't be a neighborhood institution if the food wasn't great. Service was good, although the entrees came out a bit later than I would have liked, especially considering we were there early and the place was almost empty. But it wasn't a reason not to recommend the place."

  • "Good place for a nice dinner. Portions were smaller than average. Roasted garlic, relish and warm bread served before the meal was a nice touch. Layout of the restaurant and decor was awkward and tired, but maybe that is part of the ambience of the place."

  • "Normally when we go to Café Lucci for dinner, the service is great, but we never felt rushed. This time, we sped right through drinks and our meal. We were in and out in 45 minutes. When going out with friends, one of the reasons we choose Café Lucci is to be able to enjoy our meal and conversation and spend a little time conversing."

  • "Our waiter didn't rush us and always appeared at the perfect moment. The three of us all enjoyed our dinners - a swordfish special, a sea bass special and the awesome FETTUCCINE BASILICO!"

  • "We had a party of four at lunch. Two of us ordered veal scampi, one Sea Bass and one chicken Vesuvio. The food was great and cooked to taste. The owner, Bobby, not only greets all customers but periodically checks to see if patrons are pleased with their food and service. All in all, it's a wonderful dining experience."

  • "Dinner at Café Lucci is always a wonderful experience. Great service. Delicious food. We always feel welcomed, like visiting with old friends. Variety of specials offer great selections, all perfectly done. Café Lucci is our go-to place to celebrate special dates and holidays, and share wonderful food and drink with friends and family."

  • "My husband and I tried Cafe Lucci about 25 years ago and didn't particiularly like it...but thought we'd give it a go again. It was unfortunately about the same experience we had 25 years ago. Though it had been remodeled, the decor was still dated, the food was just okay (I had a veal dish and my husband had pasta with a meat sauce & meat balls). There are so many more good restaurant choices, we will not return for a third chance."

  • "There are many restaurants in the Chicago area. So why have I been going to Cafe Lucci for years? Simple, it is worth going again and again. Love their newer restaurant , Bobby's, in Deerfield too."

  • "always one of our favorites for Italian in the burbs!!!"

  • "The owner is the main reason to go to this restaurant. He is loved and adored. Sadly the food is mediocre at best with sauces clearly from canned tomatoes, corn starch based , and without flavor. Bad hotel buffet food at best. The bread is well baked and the minestrone are the best options available."

  • "Absolutely wonderful. many items to choose so we let Eddie do the owrk for some of us and his choices were GREAT. A good time was had by all and like the swallows in Capistano we will return."

  • "My husband and I started dining at Cafe Lucci once in a while since 2011 and we both enjoyed the food and environment of the restaurant very much. From the garlic sauce before the meal to their Italian sausage, from the appetizer of escargot to entrees such as veal, steak and salmon, every time we are never unsatisfied. We are not typical wine drinkers so couldn't give too much comment on wine. But it could be told from the restaurant's ambience, menu and own style that they also feature very good wine. Highly recommended to someone who would like to have a fine dining experience of Italian food."

  • "The food is exceptional and if you have a taste for something not on the extensive menu or a special they will prepare it for you. The best crab cakes EVER"

  • "I'd heard about Cafe Lucci for years but this was my first visit. The large menu contained many staples of American-style Italian dining (e.g., veal Marsala, chicken Parmesan) but the daily specials list contained some more adventuresome twists. The dishes were generally simple but tasty, with fresh ingredients and careful preparation leading to excellent results. My favorite bite of the night was the sausage and peppers appetizer: the sausage was high quality meat perfectly charred, and the peppers full of flavor and served al dente, not cooked to a flavorless mush like so many other places. Use some of the crusty bread to sop up the olive oil and herbs surrounding the sausage and peppers, delicious! Only complaint = dining room loud."

  • "My family and I love this place! We try to come in as often as possible because the food and service are always spot on! I've been to very few restaurants as consistent as this. The waitstaff also make great recommendations, I haven't been disappointed yet!"

  • "We have dined at Lucci's often and it is always excellent. We had a party of seven this time and everyone had a delicious dinner.. from the veal chops, lobster ravioli, to the other fish meat and pasta dishes they offer. Appetizers and dessert were also scrumptious. The server was outstanding and very accommodating to special requests from people in our party. they have a notable wine list for those who enjoy a good wine selection. We would definitely recommend Lucci's to others looking for great Italian cuisine and we will continue to frequent this restaurant."

  • "Great meal, but we were really squished in - not surprising do to VALENTIES DAY CRUSH. however FOOD s excellent as always, and service very prompt. Wish they had checked us in properly so I wasn't told I was a no show by open table!!"

  • "Cafe Lucci is one of our very favorite dining destinations. EVERYTHING about the dining experience here is first class. Our only complaint from this last visit is that we'd parked in their small lot without the valet service (mainly because we were dining on the early side) and found ourselves double and triple parked in when we needed to leave to catch a train. The valets then largely ignored us and our predicament and, frankly, it wasn't a nice ending to an otherwise terrific experience."

  • "Food was very good and our server was very attentive and helpful. The restaurant is crowded and I really don't enjoy those little two-top tables where you are practically sitting with the people next to you."

  • "Cafe Lucci has been around a long time and for good reason. The food is excellent, the wine selection is excellent and the owner is always walking around greeting his guests. There is always a different list of five or six specials that change constantly, so you are not always limited to choosing form the printed menu. They were a little late honoring our open table reservation, but the veal oscar made up for that. We are not necessarily regulars, but the owner always seems to recognize us and greet us."

  • "We are new to glenview and have been looking for great Italian, found it!!!"

  • "Generally, this is one of our favorite restaurants. However, on New Year's Eve, although I had reserved a table in their back room, our party of 8 was led upstairs to their banquet area which is very loud. There is also a large service bar in the room and several other patrons were standing around it really "celebrating" which wouldn't have happened downstairs where there is a separate bar area. Our food was very good and our poor waiter did the best he could with one other busboy helping him. I believe they were the only two servers for the entire room. Our food was served in a timely manner, but it took almost 45 minutes to us to get our check. We'll definitely go to Café Lucci again but will never agree to sit upstairs."
