Excellent service and food. Wine pairings were good although we are not rosé fans. We were given a choice of dessert wines. Not perhaps the best place for an intimate dinner, but it was quiet on a Sunday evening so it worked out very well. The ambiance is upscale bistro. Our waitress Jen was possibly the best waitress I have ever had and we go to restaurants very frequently. He's a budding foodie, and this was his idea of a good birthday present. We had a great evening. We decided to sit in the chairs that gave us a perfect view of the kitchen--kind of an exhibition kitchen set-up. We had fun watching the two cooks prepare orders and chatted briefly with one cook as he worked. The cooks weren't chatty, but were very happy to answer questions when we asked them.
We ordered the 3-course tasting menu, and enjoyed everything we ordered. Our favorites were the corn pudding and an order of mussels that we added to our order. We were there this past Saturday with 2 other couples and had a very enjoyable time. While there is a limited menu, there is something for everyone. Our server and all the wait staff were very attentive, but not annoying. We brought our wine and they had a reasonable corkage fee. We all enjoyed our meals. The onion soup is out of this world!! Others had the mussels and pea soup, which they loved. For our entrees, we had the halibut, short ribs and Levain burger. Again very good. We were too full for dessert. My father was celebrating his birthday, so I figured it's time to visit.
He had the ribeye and ordered it well-done. I shook my head but he loved the steak and the little fondue cheese it comes with. He was quite impressed with the presentation.
My mother and I ordered the chicken, which came atop kale, cucumbers and polenta. It was absurdly good. The chicken was moist and the flavor combination was a perfect mix and temperature.
My wife ordered the bucatini, being an italian food fan. It was spiced exceptionally well.

The atmosphere & smells eating behind the bakery were comforting. The food was exceptional only negative comment main course was slightly salty, the liver pate' was perfect. We had a seafood dish & baked chicken both were a bit salty. But overall the quality & presentation were exceptional, just cut back on the salt. The dining room is small and intimate, but not crowded or noisy. We immediately felt like we had discovered a neighborhood gem. The French onion soup has been noted by the local media, and I can't imagine how it could get any better than their version. Everyone was delighted by their entrees. I had the best experience of the group because I had been anticipating the pork porterhouse after previewing their menu online. The pork not on the menu, but our server asked the kitchen and they had one left. It was amazing. Our server was warm, polite and attentive.
