Friends recommended this restaurant and boy were we thrilled. It was as good as we'd heard. Wonderful food, terrific service. Great choices and wine list. Small, cozy tables -- if you don't like talking to people, don't go. We enjoyed checking out the meals by our neighbors who were all having a great meal. It was just a great night all around.

Cafe La Haye is a jewel of a restaurant. The food was outstanding-- try the pork stuffed with cherries!-- the space was lovely (beautiful art work in the restuarant and even in the ladies room), the staff was professional and courteous and the vibe was peaceful and friendly. I couldn't have asked for a better setting in which to celebrate my 40th birthday.

Cafe La Haye has been one of our favorite Sonoma restaurant over the past ten years. However, in our last visit there were several problems. First, the quality of the food and the choices available on the menu seemed to have slipped since the departure of John McReynolds. On this occasion, however, by far the most serious problem was the fact that they had made an error in our check. It was particularly embarassing as we were entertaining friends visiting from Seattle. Check errors are not unheard of, and I am sure that many small errors go undetected. But this was an error of more than $120 on a chack total of about $220. We caught it, the restaurant aknowledged the error and canceled the original bill, but it left a bad taste.

Arrived 15 minutes early and was seated promptly. I just mentioned our reservation time and didn't even have to give my name. However, after ordering, the front desk thought we were another couple. We got to keep our seats, but I felt a little bad for the other couple. I thought the service was great... it seemed like there was only one main server for the entire dining room, and I thought she pulled it off wonderfully. It seemed like the rest of the staff, including the man running the front desk, pitched in at all the right moments, making the overall service seem effortless. The food was fantastic as well, and served quickly. Overall, a great experience and a restaurant that I'd recommend HIGHLY to friends and co-workers.

The service was amateurish and unprofessional. Bright smiles and friendliness don't make up for leaving us waiting too long to be seated and served. Our food came out before our wine, which was served way too warm. This wouldn't be a big deal anywhere else in the country, but this is Sonoma, of all places -- I would expect the wine service to be impeccable. This is clearly a place that is riding on its undeserved reputation. The food was very good, but there's good food everywhere. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The best restaurant in Sonoma hands down. We had a 9pm reservation and were seated by 9:15pm. The host comped us 2 champagne cocktails and an endive salad for our "trouble". The food was outstanding, the wine list was extensive, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel special. In fact I felt like they may have had us confused for a celebrity couple. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any visitor of Sonoma.

The first courses and the 2 fish, pork and chicken main courses were excellent. The local vegetables were fresh, bright and full of flavor. The main courses were cooked to perfection. The food rating would have garnered an "Outstanding" however the desserts fell a bit short. The warm almond cake was decent but the accompanying apricot puree/sauce too bitter. We had another dessert but somehow can't recall it.

Our meals at Cafe la Haye were all fantastic and the prices were a pleasant surprise for such a good restaurant. While our server was a bit harried and distracted, she was friendly and helpful. The appetizer salads were delicious as were our main courses. Three of us had a roasted chicken dish with an amazing mustard sauce. The cauliflower gratin was so good, it almost made us forget it was cauliflower. The arctic char dish was beautifully prepared and delicious. This is a great, intimate little restaurant that is worthy of the hype it's received over the last few years. We'd definitely recommend it and will go back when we're in Sonoma next.

The relaxed atmosphere, appealing menu and knowledgeable waitress were a great first impression. This was only exceeded by the quality of the produce and the excellently balanced dishes. The food is sophisticated without being fussy. We ordered stuffed calimari and oysters from the Sonoma coast to start followed by local organic Chicken and Quail (their signature dish). We both tasted all dishes and agreed that it was superb that all the lovely organic produce could be savoured without anything overpowering the flavour. So hard to find sometimes! It was our last night of our vacation but this will be first on my list for future visits to Sonoma.

This Gem was recomended to me by Chef John Ash. And if he suggests something it's for good reason. Cafe La Haye lived up to its hype. The fresh ingredients combined with creative innovation from the Chef was a real treat. The server was very attentive and kind. Although small and limited, the wine list matched the restaurant well with local purveyors and California's favorites including a favorite of mine, Radio Coteau. Very excellent dinning experience.
