A restaurant that lives up to expectations! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Cafe La Cave with oysters rockefeller, rack of lamb, and creme brulee. The food and service were both outstanding. Our waiter told us that he had been at the restaurant 34 years, so either the owners treat their staff extremely well or the waiter is part owner. The waiter and maitre'd' singing happy anniversary, a scoop of ice cream with a candle, the ability to converse and actually hear each other, the quiet and candlelit ambience - all made for a truly satisfying experience. Mind you the prices aren't cheap, but for the quality and quantity of the food, everything was very fairly priced. My Steak au Poivre was cooked perfectly and was quite tasty. My wife's Salmon was a bit on the salty side, as was the bed of spinach on which it was served. It has always been my special place to eat. Every time I dine there, I alway order the beef stroganoff,which is off the menu, but if you request it, they will make it. We both had fabulous food and wine, and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We recommended to some friends from the Chicago area, and they already knew about it and were delighted that it was a good experience just like it had been for them.

Having dined here in excess of 20 times in the last several years, I've sampled just about everything the menu has to offer. Each time the meal is classy, elegant, and delicious. My "go to items" are Escargot and French Onion soup to start,a cool and crisp Caesar salad after that, and then it's Steak au Poivre is my most frequent choices. The fillet is often fork tender and always cooked to perfection. All of the sides are equally fresh and tasty.
What else can I say about Cafe Le Cave other than it's a romantic and timeless location for any occasion.
