Cafe La BohemeGreat Afternoon!Interesting Place. Decor was a little confused but very fun! Food was great! The pancakes for brunch were some of the best I ever had! We sat on the patio with the ivy covered walls, heat lamps & candle light. The ambiance was wonderful for a special occasion or romantic dinner. This year for my boy friends birthday I knew instantly where I wanted to take him. I was told that the patio was closed for a private party and we wouldn't be able to dine there this evening. Okay, disappointing I must say - However, we ended up in a very comfortable U-shaped booth. It was just the two of us and the place wasn't very crowed (as we had a late dinner) we were able to sit closely and get lost in conversation. We wanted a unique, quaint, romantic taste of L.A., and this was the perfect spot! The service was unbelievable, and the ambiance was first-class. It is very dark with lots of candlelight, chandeliers, and a roaring fireplace. It is almost a bit of a gothic-period decor, with black and red chandeliers and walls, and the privacy screens that separated each private booth were made of metal twined screen, like a fireplace screen. Very unique. It was classy and upscale, but you don't need to wear formal attire; it was pretty laid back. Try the Vanilla bean Creme Brulee for dessert. The staff is warm and welcoming and the setting inside is spectacular. In good weather the outside patio makes you think you're in the south of France. The food has always been very good here, and I believe it's even better now. They do brunch only on Mothers' Day and Easter, and everything on the menu for these special occasions looks delicious. My brunch choices have been perfect each time. They also have a very popular Happy Hour here. My "host" and I were equally impressed, but witnessing her "first timer" enjoyment of it further amplified my own delight as a semi-regular. Just a gorgeous, fool-proof choice for a night out, where even if when doesn't start out as a special occasion, it'll likely feel like one. I will admit that it has had some ups and downs over the last couple years but with some additions to the menu and cleaning up of some of the current items I have to say WOW! One of the BEST Tuna Tartar I have EVER had. Followed by a Salmon that... well it's just not something I order often but this made me happy I did this night!

The decor was spectacular with a large, central fire place and it really set the mood for a great evening. They also have an outdoor dining area, but it was a bit chilly that evening to dine outdoors. The service was very good. We both had the chef's special which was a rack of lamb, potatoes and vegetables. It was magnificent! We also had a few of their mixed drink specials which were also fantastic. We even spotted Kaley Cuoco from the CBS series the Big Bang Theory in a booth behind our table! Overall, it was a perfect evening for a Valentine's Day dinner. (Menu is blessedly short, and I tend to stick to my faves.) Host/hostess, food runner, and bartender are typically flawless.
