For a time I found the menu rather ordinary but in the last year it has certainly improved. The food was always good, but at times the service was inconsistent which is part of what we pay for. I have dined there three times in the past 35 days, and my server Dylan is excellent. I trust his opinion on the specials and he always checks to see if I need something. This, combined with the ambiance and excellent quality of the menu makes for a special dinner. I just wished the stocked Lagavulin in their bar. Well done. Went on a Saturday night around 9pm and it was pretty empty. a few tables were taken. It was really quiet and calm, which was a nice change in pace. We sat on the patio with the ivy covered walls, heat lamps & candle light. The ambiance was wonderful for a special occasion or romantic dinner. This year for my boy friends birthday I knew instantly where I wanted to take him. I was told that the patio was closed for a private party and we wouldn't be able to dine there this evening. Okay, disappointing I must say - However, we ended up in a very comfortable U-shaped booth. It was just the two of us and the place wasn't very crowed (as we had a late dinner) we were able to sit closely and get lost in conversation. The service is "family style" - all members of the staff help every table.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a WeHo destinationThis is a WeHo destination spot: the setting is very romantic, with soaring beamed ceiling, big fireplace and lots of chandeliers; the booths are also private, and they're well-spaced. The waitstaff is welcoming and polished, obviously trained by someone who knows service. The food is well-prepared, beautifully presented, and delicious. Our one quibble is with the kitchen, which seems to be easily overwhelmed. Our first course salads were served promptly, but we waited nearly half an hour between the clearing of the first course and service of our entrées. Especially when the kitchen is viewable and kitchen staff appear idle, this should not occur. We wanted a unique, quaint, romantic taste of L.A., and this was the perfect spot! The service was unbelievable, and the ambiance was first-class. It is very dark with lots of candlelight, chandeliers, and a roaring fireplace. It is almost a bit of a gothic-period decor, with black and red chandeliers and walls, and the privacy screens that separated each private booth were made of metal twined screen, like a fireplace screen. Very unique. It was classy and upscale, but you don't need to wear formal attire; it was pretty laid back. Try the Vanilla bean Creme Brulee for dessert. The staff is warm and welcoming and the setting inside is spectacular. In good weather the outside patio makes you think you're in the south of France. The food has always been very good here, and I believe it's even better now. They do brunch only on Mothers' Day and Easter, and everything on the menu for these special occasions looks delicious. My brunch choices have been perfect each time. They also have a very popular Happy Hour here. My "host" and I were equally impressed, but witnessing her "first timer" enjoyment of it further amplified my own delight as a semi-regular. Just a gorgeous, fool-proof choice for a night out, where even if when doesn't start out as a special occasion, it'll likely feel like one. I will admit that it has had some ups and downs over the last couple years but with some additions to the menu and cleaning up of some of the current items I have to say WOW! One of the BEST Tuna Tartar I have EVER had. Followed by a Salmon that... well it's just not something I order often but this made me happy I did this night!

The decor was spectacular with a large, central fire place and it really set the mood for a great evening. They also have an outdoor dining area, but it was a bit chilly that evening to dine outdoors. The service was very good. We both had the chef's special which was a rack of lamb, potatoes and vegetables. It was magnificent! We also had a few of their mixed drink specials which were also fantastic. We even spotted Kaley Cuoco from the CBS series the Big Bang Theory in a booth behind our table! Overall, it was a perfect evening for a Valentine's Day dinner.
