  • "The menu selections and the specials were so tempting it was difficult to make choices. I had the rabbit and my husband had the salmon. Both were cooked to perfection - gently and tenderly. The salad of the day (my choice) combined unique seasonings, morsels of duck and tender arugula and herbs. Bob chose the soup special, a seafood chowder that was beautifully and uniquely seasoned - not too thick. Our desserts also exceeded our expectations - a dark chocolate pudding-style cake with a side of homemade gelato. Bob's dessert consisted of homemade assorted fruit sorbets. Service was also outstanding. Water glasses were regularly refilled and check-ins were regular but not at all intrusive."

The food seemed to lack its usual inspiration, our server appeared bored, and we were seated next to a table for four that was joined by a fifth person. It was not the pleasant experience we were expecting for our anniversary."

  • "Planned our anniversary dinner months in advance, looking forward to experiencing chef Holly Smith's brilliant cooking. We'd been there before several times and always had wonderful food and memorable experiences. This was not the case this past weekend. Every single dish was over-salted. In fact, I had to send one appetizer back because it was so salty that it was inedible. Even my lamb chops were visibly covered in large chunks of salt. Very disappointing overall - and the meal was finished with terrible coffee. I don't know what happened. I'm still feeling the disappointment. The sommelier was great, though, and we did have a nice wine. The wine doesn't make up for lousy food, but it's at least one thing that was positive."

The restaurant is comfortably elegant; the staff is friendly and professional; the food is outstanding. We always order the octopus salad. All their pastas are excellent. When it's on the menu, Holly cooks a wonderful version of branzino. Finally, the wine selections are extensive and well thought out, and sommelier is knowledgable and helpful."

  • "Holly continues to be a great chef and outstanding in her field. Her food is classic and innovative at the same time. She just returned from a trip to Italy and found some new sources for great products and wines, which she has brought to the restaurant. The sommelier is extremely knowledgable and friendly and doesn't try to push expensive wines-unless you want them, of course! My rack of lamb was of excellent quality and cooked perfectly. My only complaint about the evening is that I thought the portion was a bit small; there were three chops all small. A fourth would have made a big difference. Two diners had duck and another the scallops which were the special-they were quite large and seared perfectly."

  • "It is wonderful to go to a restaurant and experience great service, knowledgeable servers, relaxing ambience, wonderful food and no rush -- all in the same place. The menu had so many great sounding dishes that we asked our server for suggestions, telling him what sounded good from the various sections. He came up with excellent sequence suggestions and matched them with wines. He was superb with all suggestions. My wife and I had a wonderful, relaxed, memorable dinner for her birthday."

  • "It was our first visit to Cafe Juanita. The menu was creative, and the food was excellent. Ordered duck breast dish and daily seafood of scallops. Presentations were perfect; portions enough to satisfy hunger (a plus!); taste combinations of ingredients were excellent! More waitstaff than usually found in restaurants, thus the patrons were seamlessly attended to. Very nice! Looking forward to a return visit."

We have been to Cafe Juanita many times over 15 years, and it has always been perfect or nearly so. The food is simply outstanding, from first course to dessert. And the service! We are always treated like welcome guests by the most professional and warmest wait staff in the area. It's actually hard for me to describe how Cafe Juanita makes me feel - happy, at home, like everyone there is so glad we are dining with them. And we can relax completely when we're there because we know the timing, the food, the attention will be just right. We love the fact that our children, now teens, have always been treated with the same respect and care as adults"

Both were outstanding! Pork cheeks and salmon were also bit hits at our table, as well as the steak lettuce salad. And the service was truly exceptional. Definitely my top choice for a special occasion celebration."

  • "I have been to Cafe Juanita for dinner 5 times now, and all but one of them was a spectacular success. I felt one of the times, the pork cheeks I ordered were over salted. The other 4 times, everything was perfect. From the appetizer to the desert, the food had a deep rich flavor, without the use of excessive amount of oil or butter. On initial appearance it seems a bit pricey, but when you taste the food, you realize that you would be willing to pay double."

  • "Cafe Junita sits in an unassuming building, but don't let the exterior fool you... The food is not inexpensive, but is divine. The foie gras might be the best morsel I've ever put in my mouth, and the rabbit was pure bliss... Gnocchi, sable fish, wow, wow, wow... Betz makes a red wine just for them, and was incredible! The tables are a bit too close for my liking, but we did enjoy some friendly banter with those near us. If you can make room in the budget, Cafe Juanita will not disappoint"

  • "I've had the pleasure of dining at Cafe Juanita twice now. Both experiences were outstanding. The menu offers a tempting variety and the service is perfect. Having made our reservation months earlier, I somehow got the time wrong -- we had a 6:15 reservation but I thought it was for 7:00. Someone from Cafe Juanita called us at 6:45 to find out if we were coming for our reservation which we were now 30 minutes late for, but we thought we still had 15 minutes before we were due there. I felt horrible about it but they couldn't have been nicer. I'm fortunate to live within walking distance of this restaurant but I would happily drive from surrounding areas for the experience of fabulous food, beautifully served."

Was even more surprised that hostess was in jeans and winter boots, not very professional looking. Not worth all the hype and cost. "

  • "We went there for our anniversary and upon making reservations, they asked about dietary restrictions My wife does not eat dairy and when we were seated, much to our surprise, she was presented three menus, one vegan, one dairy-free, and one vegetarian. My menu was the original menu. The food she chose off of the vegan and dairy free menus were superb. And, the two sorbets (strawberry and rhubarb) she had for dessert, was the best she has ever had. The salads, sable fish appetizer, the duck and chicken dishes were all wonderful. We hadn't been there in a number of years and the food is still as outstanding as it ever was. We'll be back again, but I think sooner next time!"

  • "Last week my friend and I took a road trip up the NW coast and specifically came to the Seattle area (instead of stopping only as far north as Portland) so that we could go to Cafe Juanita together and enjoy an amazing meal after we have both raved about our individual experiences here. Result:another impeccable experience. Starter: risotto with a balsamic that the owners just brought back from France that was out of this world. Entrees: duck breast- perfectly seasoned; lamb: one of the best meals from Seattle-NYC-France. I had a couple of glasses of the Sauternes with my meal and was thrilled to hear that the sorbet was strawberry sauternes, crisp and refreshing. The chocolate tart was also a perfect ending to the meal. Service: exemplary"

  • "It had been decades since I had been to Cafe Juanita, long since under new ownership, and it did not disappoint. The decor has changed since I was last there, but the food remains outstanding. It was a fantastic experience from beginning to end and every bite was pure joy. The service was great, although my only complaint (if I had to make one) is that they are a little over zealous with refilling water glasses every couple sips - just a little overkill. Still, better that than neglecting an empty water glass for too long."

Great service, amazing food ... we have eaten at many of the "best restaurants" in Seattle, and Cafe Juanita is clearly our favorite. I had the risotto made with cuttlefish ink and prawns, and my wife had the fish of the day. Both were awesome, along with the cauliflower side dish that we shared. Top that off with two incredible aperitivi to start and a delicious dessert (that we shared) ... wonderful!"

  • "I have followed the reviews of this restaurant for years. My hobby is cooking, so I like to try a variety of restaurants. This did not disappoint. We tried to order things we would not make at home, like the octopus and rabbit. My husband had the sable fish appetizer - if I went back I would order this again as well as the rabbit. The textures and sauces were executed with skill. Make sure you swipe your food across your plate or you may miss an ingredient. It was not until I was almost done with my beet salad that I realized there was some type of peanut sauce underneath. We asked for a wine recommendation and we heard a variety of prices (because there are some pricey wines on the list.) We ended up with a delightful choice."
