  • "We tried café josie a few months back after a long hiatus and were pleasantly surprised. Its a different restauraunt than the café josie we once knew and has quickly become a favorite. We've been back now a few more times and plan on keeping it in the rotation - a clarksville gem!"

  • "Menu was a little limited, and the wine a little pricey by the glass, but our order was excellent. The food, service and ambiance made the evening a special one with my wife of 26 years. I would most definitely recommend Cafe Josie to my friends. My compliments to the chef! Excellent night out."

  • "Don't miss it, either. A rare treat. The rest of the dinner was OK. Portions small and prices high, but go elsewhere for happy hour and come hear to graze on goat."

  • "First time at Café Josie. Attentive service, excellent choices and menu, very well prepared. Duck was substantial and perfectly cooked, as was the specialty swordfish. And the pickles on the appetizer menu are both unusual and a bit whimsical. Love them!"

  • "We found the food was excellent and left full and satisfied. The service was superb, but it was a very slow night and the waiter had lots of time to attend to us and others. He did a wonderful job checking on us and pampering us with service and good advice. A very enjoyable evening!"

  • "Service was excellent! Had Quail - small portion, but tasted very good. Wine - 1/2 bottle $40 …very expensive. My wife loved everything about it. Acoustics not good…was very loud…."

  • "I had been wanting to try Cafe Josie since they changed their menu several months ago, and I was not disappointed. The food was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. There were four of us and we each had a different entree - three fish dishes and the vegetarian choice. All were excellent. The Brussels sprouts as an appetizer is amazing. My only complaint - and it's a minor one - is that we were seated at a picnic table outdoors. The surroundings were lovely and the weather very pleasant, but not having a chair to lean back on during a 2+ hour meal was a little tiring. I will definitely go back but will opt for indoor seating or one of the non-picnic tables outside. Overall, a wonderful experience. "

  • "Wife and I took 2 friends for a special "thank-you" dinner. All thought the two "small plates" -- brussels sprouts and rabbit confit-- were a touch above the "large plates" -- three of us had the curry goat ribs, one the quail. All were tasty and reasonably priced for Austin. The wine was excellent but the list is a bit pricey (very little below $40 per bottle). The service was excellent and the overall experience quite favorable. This was our second visit, and we will no doubt go again."

  • "The first thing that we noticed and that stuck with us throughout the meal is the excellent service. Roger, our server, was superb. While the food was good, it was a bit overpriced. And parking at lunch can be a bit of a challenge."

  • "Café Josie has a good location and nice design which provides a comfortable dining experience. The service was outstanding, with our server making good recommendations on wine and food. The only downside was the quality of the fried oyster appetizer; maybe it's just too late in the season."

  • "We had a wonderful evening dining outside on the patio. Cafe Josie serves gourmet quality food and well priced wines by the bottle or glass as well as offering a choice of more than a dozen beers to compliment the dinner. Service was attentive and pleasant. Try the small plates - the crispy oysters are lightly breaded and perfectly prepared, the duck confit is a large portion of moist shredded duck nicely seasoned and served with freshly baked & toasted bread and the fried Brussel Sprouts are the incredible. We both enjoyed the red snapper entree and followed it with the house prepared chocolate mousse for dessert. Highly recommended for an enjoyable evening out in Austin"

  • "The food was creative & delicious. The chef paired ingredients together that were incredibly unique & delicious. The cherry/rum soaked Brussels sprouts were amazing, as was the beet salad, & the striped sea bass special of the evening we also had the special soup of the day which was served cold and was very wonderful for a hot day. 10 out of 10 on these items. The almond torte dessert served with tarragon ice cream and a carrot purée was out of this world. 10 out 10. Fried oyster appetizer was average nothing really special or unique but good. Our server Roger was so knowledgeable and passionate about the menu it was really a welcome change. My experience when I travel for work is one of below average restaurants. Wonderful and amazing!"

  • "We chose Cafe Josie to celebrate our anniversary. The food was creative and delicious. The waitress (Lucy) was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the menu and the wine list. She made some great recommendations, and we were very happy with the food and the service."

  • "Went to this restaurant while attending conference in Austin. The place was great, and the service was impeccable. The food was excellent - we decided to do tapas, and everything we ordered was outstanding. The brussel sprout dish was especially wonderful, with crispy sprouts, dried cherries, and toasted pecans. Also had oyster dish and cheese tray - also excellent. There were 2 of us that needed to meet someplace quiet & away from conference crowds, and this fit the bill. We had to take a cab to get there, but worth the trip. We did eat rather early, and this may be reason for the quiet, but I would still strongly recommend."

  • "A friend of mine and I have visited Café Josie 5 times now. Each time we have dined there very late, near 930-10 pm, and once at a more "normal" hour. Not once have we been displeased with any of our dining experiences. The wait staff is amazing, the food is WONDERFUL and this has become our spot. I look forward to many many more dinners at Café Josie. "

  • "Went there for the first time this past weekend and enjoyed the food and service very much. The ambience is great as well. Our server was very knowledgeable of the wine list and recommended a great bottle that paired well with the Snapper Udon and Scallops that we had. Reasonably priced and portions were perfect to fill."

  • "I had lunch twice and dinner once in the same week. For lunch, two of the best soups I've ever eaten (I'm not young - I've eaten a lot of soup!) and very good salads. My dinner was also exceptional- a slow-cooked pork dish. My partner had the Udon with Redfish. The fish was cooked to perfection, although the broth overwhelmed it a bit. (He DID eat every bite.) We felt both welcomed and at home in the restaurant. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly without being intrusive. One of the happiest discoveries at Café Josie was that we could hear each other speaking!"

  • "We had the fried oysters w/ horseradish aioli & Srirachi aioli, w/ sweet potato fris: perfect! We also had: grilled octopus w/ crispy potato which was really tasty and could have been great save for the octopus being overcooked and tough. We told the waiter who told the chef who also agreed that the octopus was tough. We had the soup of the day: scallop tom kha, a twist on the traditional Thai soup. It was very well executed and very good. We had one large plate: butternut squash curry. It was flavorful and I liked it, but my companion did not, thinking it a bit too light and dainty in taste."

  • "Love this place. Nice for a romantic evening or great for a group couples night out. Each aspect of the food served here has been well thought out and is well executed. Not sure how they acieved the depth of flavor in the beet salad, or how they got to the perfect crispiness on the tender juicy pork entree or how they nailed the delicate udon snapper dish. But am looking forward to going back for my next mouthwatering experience here!"

  • "I haven' been to Josie' since they opened but was pleased that the ambience was still quiet and quaint. the food menu and wine menu was very limited; the house salads lacked originality. It a longer than expected wait time just for 2 salads. The wine list was not very extensive but for a small cafe was acceptable; not so great was the less than half cup of wine served. Can't say I'll be back anytime soon."

  • "We came in for dinner on a Monday at 745. Promptly greated and seated at a great table. Our server was in training and did a fantastic job. She was very polite and friendly, around just enough without being around to much. The food was all fantastic we had the beet salad grilled octopus soup of the day the trout and the short rib. Every dish was great and our standout was the short rib. We will be back for sure and would recommend this place to everyone."

  • "My sisters and I had the chance to dine at Josie's twice in the past week (visiting from NYC and California). I'm a NY snob/foodie, and was really blown away. The thought and care given to the locally-sourced menu was really impressive. The service was warm and friendly; I was struggling with the by-the-glass wine selection, and the waiter offered to let me taste several before I settled on a choice. The Brussels's Sprouts were perfect and so unusual. And the dessert of fois gras a remarkable thing of beauty. Also loved the short ribs and the beet salad; every dish was delicious! We highly recommend it and will definitely return whenever in Austin!"

  • "romantic, classy but simple setting; great personal service and knowledgeable staff - just the right amount of attention. menu was a nice eclectic offering of vegetarian, elegant "comfort food", and epicurean. vegetables were all local farm to table and tasted fresh. All our meals were spectacular - butternut squash curry, braised short ribs and an entrée special of grilled duck breast."

  • "Great ambiance with brick floors, high wood ceilings and generally charming. Nice for a special occasion, which happened to be a birthday for us. Server was great and food delicious. Portions were smaller but I happen to like smaller portions which are excellently prepared and presented. They have happy hour each day from 3-6 (not on weekends, just weekdays) so we were able to buy a bottle of wine for half. Only wine and beer though, but that was fine for us. I think it's a good place but a little hard to find and parking can be tricky. We did fine though."
