Cafe GiovanniLovely eveningWe had a very enjoyable evening. The food was tasty and we had big portions. The singers in the restaurant added to the overall experience. The plates are a bit pricey the but quality of the food was very good. A Great place to treat yourself to.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMthe restaurant is a greatthe restaurant is a great place to go enjoy a special occasion staff very friendly ,I will be back to dine.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBecoming a yearly experience. Was here a year ago so we decided to try it again. Started with a Caesar salad, and oysters Giovanni. Oysters were great but it was the Caesar salad that we raved about. The dressing was perfect and the croutons were fried eggplant squares. My husband had the stuffed chicken breast, really good but my pescue Venetian was excellent. Too full for dessert. We definitely will comeback next year!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat serviceFantastic service, very friendly staff and great food. Reasonable prices. a wonderful experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Nice MealWe all truly enjoyed the meal we had at Giovanni's. I had 4 people for a business dinner and everyone enjoyed the food. A very nice experience was had by all.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood change of paceAfter a week in NOLA we were looking for something a little different compared to the typical local cuisine. We decided to try Italian for a change of pace and really liked this place. Restaurant was well decorated and a bit romantic. There was live piano and live singing which was nice and not overbearing. Service here was the best we had in New Orleans (love the city but in general service is slow). Starters were good, salad was good, entree was good, dessert was good, servings were well portioned. Overall a good experience and would go back5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA Happy Anniversary Indeed! My wife and I went to this fine establishment while on a trip to celebrate our first anniversary in the great city of New Orleans. The food wasn't extraordinary by any stretch, but both my lamb and her spaghetti were quite tasty. Where they really shined was the service. I requested a special table and they were happy to accommodate. Then, at the end of dinner, we were personally serenaded. It really was a lovely meal and a memorable way to start our next year of marriage. Thanks again!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMHorrendousReally awful. Good terrible. Service terrible. And staff made us so uncomfortable.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLast Minute Decision Was A Good OneIn NOLA for a few days. Tired from the days travel. Look on Open Table what had an opening close by. Found Giovanni. Loved it. Reasonably priced. Good service. Good wine. Good food. We had a 6:30 reservation. Seated promptly on arrival. Restaurant was a little slow at first. But definitely picked up. By the end of the evening it was full and bustling. Including piano player and roaming opera singer. I used to live in Nola so I know how competive the restaurant business is. This place delivers. It's not the cutting edge new restaurant by any means. But it's good. Traditional Italian. And it had a fun atmosphere.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMHits all the right notesThe food was inventive and augmented by 2 wonderful sopranos and a pianist who played thru our entire meal without a break. A wonderful dining experience.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you can come on a nightIf you can come on a night that the waiters perform, it is very entertaining. The Oysters Giovanni, Asparagus Tuscany and Voodoo Shrimp are our favorites, but we have never had a bad meal here. If you have the time, the tasting menu is awesome too.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMBountiful...Romance & FlavorsA six-course meal with the wine pairing was incredible! Add to that Kat's delightfully energetic service and you've found a perfect, romantic evening. However, if you're lucky enough to score that outstanding duo (and you've picked the right night) watch out for an additional bonus of romantic, upbeat, classic piano music and opra singing; trifecta! BRAVO!!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGotta try the tasting menu! The chef does a tasting menu that is not only outstanding in taste and presentation but the portion sizes are great as well. Well worth the money so go hungry. Nice touch is the opera singers singing Italian. They weren't intrusive. Only negative is that the room is loud. Sit along the edges and you'll be fine. But the food is worth it.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice atmosphere. TheVery nice atmosphere. The food, overall, was good, though my dish (Veal lo Cicero) was not impressive... at all. It tasted like cafeteria food. Maybe that's how it was supposed to be. Everyone else's dish was good, so I don't want to judge the entire place on that. Our appetizer and chopped salad were both very good and flavorful. Mine was just the one big miss. Our service was good, though I found the host to be slightly superior acting. I will probably go back though, because overall, our group had a good time and enjoyed the food.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat date restaurantFood and service was great. Great place to take a date.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMfunfood was ok

Excellent Italian cuisine.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good italian food inVery good italian food in the Quarter. The pesce Venetian was incredible. The chicken roll ups were very good. The antipasto has a nice assortment of local meats and cheeses. We had an exceptional meal.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWill be back soon!My first trip in many years, my girlfriends first visit. Service was great. The food was remarkable, oysters Giovanni app was a great flavor, Caesar salad was best she ever had, I enjoyed and really liked the eggplant croutons; unusual but great. She had the sheepshead and I had veal, both of which were exceptional.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely restaurant - greatLovely restaurant - great service and food. That's Amore'!!!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Italian restaurantAmazing Italian restaurant in a city that doesn't stop amazing me. We walked into the sound of beautiful voices, turns out they had two opera singers along with a pianist playing. This set an unbelievable ambiance as they were having so much fun walking around the room and singing their hearts out. I sampled their signature cocktail; a twist on the Long Island Ice Tea, it was quite good! My girlfriend loved the wine selection and the staff were very knowledgeable about their products. We started off with Chef Dukes Cheesy garlic Bread, it was wonderful, big thick pieces of bread with lots of cheese. The main courses were both very good as well, I had veal and she had chicken. Large quantities but not lacking in taste!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite placesOne of my favorite places to go when I'm downtown.. New Orleans. Easy walk from most hotels near canal street.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe music was a treat. GreatThe music was a treat. Great piano with accompanied vocals. Great ambiance! Great food!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMItalian American Marching ParadeI am a transplant to New Orleans, for almost a year, but never dined at Café Giovanni. No better time than during the Italian American Marching Club-Parade.
This night was my first time to utilize OpenTable. I thought, slim chance of getting a reservation at an Italian restaurant with all the Italians in NOLA. I chose to dine prior to the 6 p.m. parade. I was able to reserve a table for 2. But I am sure I would have been "unlucky" eating at Café Giovanni AFTER the parade. Food was great. Thank you for being on OpenTable!!!
The wait staff is amazing. Food was good. Manager noticed my Italian beads.:-) The manager allowed me to come BACK and use to powder room. Thank you.

Cafe Giovanni has has been one of my favorites for years. The food is consistently outstanding and the service could not be better. The singers add so much to the ambiance that it makes for a perfect dining experience. If I'm entertaining out-of-town guests, Cafe Giovanni is always my first stop, and they love it. If you haven't dined there, you're missing an important part of life.1/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
