  • "This was my second time at Cafe Gibraltar and it did not disappoint! Our server was Shannon (at least I think that was her name) and she was awesome. Great osso bucco ravioli appetizer, wonderful steak and shrimp entrees and the churros for dessert were fantastic! Can't wait to visit again!"

  • "A sort of Mediterranean fusion with some really unique and amazing flavors. We loved everything we ordered...and wished we had enough appetite to order a half dozen other great-sounding things on the menu."

  • "Remarkably poor food and experience. From the oily tuna cruda with costco truffle oil, to the "local artichoke" plate that was mostly potatoes in oily coconut curry, this place was honestly one of my worst restaurant experiences in recent memory. And the staff truly couldn't have cared less. Stay away."

  • "Jose is a Great Chef very inter-active with request from quest. I took my wife to his and his wifes cafe for our 30th year anniversary because of the food, the drive and how he spoke to me on the phone. We did not know what to expect, it being our first time, but as soon as I came in the door Jose and I waved at each other. Savannah was our waitress who made my wife and I feel comfortable right away and that is important to us since we are from different ethnic groups. Jose even took time to talk with me. Jose served my bread hot the way I like it, my wife enjoyed the pheasant and had delicious lamb. For desert Jose made us a special anniversary bread pudding, with ice cream, carmel and rasberry topping that was from paradise to come."

  • "This place turned my husband and I away on our 10 year wedding anniversary celebration dinner. The chef flat out told us "no" after we were only a few minutes late to our reservation. The staff are rude and a bunch of liars. The server who initially came up to us said she couldn't find our reservation and said the restaurant was closed. The chef apparently claims he called me but my phone records do not show a call from him. On top of this, the owner who is married to the chef sent me a facebook message lying saying that we arrived 15-20 minutes late for our reservation. Sorry but your lies do not justify your rude and abhorrent behavior. Stay away from this place!"

  • "This restaurant knows how to serve guests well, and the chef makes GREAT salad dressings, sauces and broths for the seven different items we chose for dinner. We will definitely return to this restaurant!"

  • "Cafe Gibraltar was a great experience in every aspect. I had been there previously but this meal surpassed them all. The tasting menu gives a great overall perspective to the talent in the kitchen."

  • "We chose Cafe Gibraltar because of all the rave reviews. We will never go back. I ordered the Hamal Ma Harissa, a lamb entree described in the menu as served with 7 vegetables. I was served a plateful of meat with no veggies save for garbanzo beans in the brown gravy. My husband ordered the Khoresh, which was a vegetable stew so overcooked that it was an unappetizing mush. He could not finish it. Thank goodness for the bread. Both of us really appreciate fine food. Our experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. We always tip 20-25%, but coughing up 15% for this food was tough."

  • "Cafe Gibraltar never falters.Fresh ingredients and unusual combinations of flavors produce outstanding dishes time and again. The setting is intimate and friendly and the service always great. Last night we had rabbit, boar and pheasant dishes and were sorry to miss the scallops and fresh fish. We are already looking forward to our next visit."

  • "Took my nephew here for his first time, and he loved it. He kept saying that every course was like dessert! Then he has dessert and was astounded with how great this place is. Everything on the menu is new, nothing that one could find any other place."

  • "We went expecting a quality meal and ended up getting what looked like it came from a cafeteria or a state fair. I was SHOCKED that Yelp reviewers have rated this place so high when some of our meal wasn't even edible! Everything seemed to be deepfried beyond recognition and the presentation was dismal. To make matters worse, when a server asked us how it was and we expressed disappointment, she did NOTHING."

  • "This delightful restaurant is a surprise, given its odd location near the Princeton harbor. We enjoyed a special occasion brunch with excellent food and friendly service. The menu has some creative and interesting items on it."

  • "We drove here from Oakland thinking because it's a Zagat-rated restaurant it would be off-the-charts. We ordered the crab benedict and french toast. The benedict was good, but it didn't have an english muffin so it was just rich with nothing to soak up the yolk. The french toast was superb, but a very small portion. The coffee was excellent and the service was perfect, but those aren't things I'd drive back for. If you're passing through, it's worth stopping in. Maybe it's better for dinner."

  • "Great flavors, and a variety of dishes that can satisfy a family with a wide range of ages. Both appetizers and main courses were well-balanced and precisely executed. The service was very welcoming and yet highly professional. Nice wine list, but Cafe Gibraltar would benefit from a full bar with good cocktails. They need an espresso machine too!"

  • "Food (cassola, pheasant) was satisfyingly flavorful, however served at room temperature. Reminded us of pre-cooked re-warmed dishes. which I am sure they do not do yet the thought of it leaves a bad aftertaste in your moth. Dessert (bread pudding) was nothing special. However, environment was fantastic. Romantic and quiet, but also accommodates groups up to 5. Try to secure a booth seat if you can - that singlehandedly makes the experience. Good selection of wines and fairly priced."

  • "A HINT of cumin in watermelon salad. light curry and complimentary flavor notes to make vegen/veg option exceptional even for meat lovers. A rich wagyu beef ravioli appetizer that was a meal in itself. And reasonable prices for a 28 zagat rated restaurant, including wine by the glass that is delicious, paired and under $10 per. In nearly 10 years of dining here, NEVER a misstep or hickup with the food. Can't wait to return again and again."

  • "Made us wait 30 minutes past our reservation. Did not offer a free drink or appetizer for our wait. Spoke to the manager who was very aggressive and argued with me. Horrible horrible customer service. The food was pretty sub-par. Definitely has gone downhill over the past year."

  • "The food was great. The service on the other hand not so much. We made the reservation online, got there waited a while for someone to even come over to give us water, asked for an appetizer, it never came. "

  • "My husband and I found this great restaurant while staying at a local B&B. The owner of the B&B recommended it. Back then it was a tiny place and we were told to go early because it gets packed! Cafe Gibraltar instantly became one of our most favorite places to dine. So delicious every time! Always wonderful service as well. Try it out and you'll be back again and again. I recommend the booths in the back."

  • "Our second dinner at Cafe Gibralter. Food was as good if not better than the last time. Just wish it wasn't such a long drive over the hills, but it is worth it for us. Service was friendly and helpful. The wine our server recommended went perfectly with our meal. "

  • "I went to Gibraltar with my aunt for mother's day brunch and was somewhat disappointed. Now I've dined there before and always had a wonderful experience. I always really liked their food and service, but both were not up to par this time around. The food was alright, nothing in comparison to what I remembered, and the service, well, our server was disinterested at best; no follow up, no attention really paid to us at all; she seemed to be somewhat not quite there. I would still recommend this restaurant, just based on all my previous experiences, and hope that I will have a better dining experience next time, but I would probably not come back for brunch, since that doesn't seem to be their strength."

  • "The experience was outstanding. When having great food not everything can be to our fancy. I would recommend taking the PINTADA CON MEMBRILLO off the menu. It was too greasy. Not expecting something fried here. So much for the negative. We told our waitress that we were disappointed with this dish. She offered to bring another entree. We were not charged for that dish. Can I ask for better service than that? *CRUDO DI GIORNO - outstanding. The octapus appetizer that I don't see on the on line menu - outstanding. The special of the day salmon - outstanding. By having only one entree rather than two my date and I had remaining appetite to enjoy desert. GREEK FLOAT - outstanding. BRIOCHE BREAD PUDDING - outstanding. "

  • "Four of us dined there and all of us were disappointed. Several items on the menu were not available and we started dining at 6:00 on a Friday evening. The food was disappointing, over cooked and in appealing. One person didn't eat much at all: had ordered the grilled octopus and calamari. Two ordered the special, Halibut, not very tasty and overlooked and bland. I ordered the lamb and it was overlooked and the vegetable, lamb and potatoes all looked the same color and had the same taste. All in all none of us could see why this restaurant was given a Zagat rating."
