The menu is creative and expertly prepared by Jose Luis. He utilizes organic ingredients, primarily locally grown and raised, and creates dishes that honor their cultural origins, yet showcase his unique vision and artistry. The seasonal menu may feature dishes from France, Spain, Turkey, Italy, Macedonia, Greece and any of the countries of North Africa. Check out our website for current menus featuring the bounty of our local farms and ranches and the fresh bounty of the sea. • "I had seen it on check please and was really excited to go. However, the entre - chicken medallions over couscous was bland and a little dry. My friend got the lamb dish, it was better than mine, but not exceptional .The appetizer and desserts were good. I had hoped for more"

  • "Great Restaurant. We all had the Crab Benedict for brunch and noticed that unlike other Benedict dishes, it did not need to sit on an English Muffin. The crab was slightly fried (not oily) and was perfectly seasoned. I do want to get back there for a dinner. The restaurant offers a variety of interesting dishes and includes many vegan choices. There is a nice ocean view from the restaurant. The only thing I would recommend is a more comfortable seat at the table. The chairs get to be a little hard for the body.....so I recommend booth seating."

  • "Wonderful combination of authentic Mediterranean overdoing the food fusion they are creating. Very fresh seafood and service."

  • "We used to go to Cafe Gibraltar frequently. Backed when it got its Michelin star both the food and service quality seemed to go downhill. We stopped going for awhile, but decided to try it one more time. Although the food was very good (though not quite what it once was, even still), the service was terrible. We had a 6:15 pm reservation, but we were not served dinner until at close to 8 pm. The restaurant appeared to be under-staffed for the number of people being served. The wait staff while aware of the long wait, did not seem terribly concerned about it."

  • "We just had a wonderful saturday evening meal at Cafe Gibraltar. We have lived just up the coast for the last 5 years but have always gone into the city for special dining. What a mistake! This is a San Francisco quality restaurant in a quaint neighborhood on the coast. The open kitchen gives a feel of transparency to preparation, and the quality of the dishes was very high. The best part is the price. We had a bottle of sparkling wine, 2 apps, 2 entrees with 2 glasses of wine, and shared a desert for $134! That would have been a $300 meal in the city and the quality would have most likely not been as high. I would highly recommend!"

  • "This was our second visit to Cafe Gibralta and the first on a Saturday. We will definitely go back to the restaurant on a different night of the week. The small restaurant was packed and so noisy that conversation was next to impossible. A party of three seated behind us was so loud I politely asked them to tone it down. Because of the noise and the crowded feeling our dining experience was not what we had hoped it would be. The food, as always, was excellent."

  • "We relocated coast side about 5 months ago Have been trying various restaurants since then and have found some excellent options. Cafe Gibralter is easily the best meal we have had since we have been here. Great food, very good service and delightful ambience."

  • "Accommodated our party that grew from 6 to 12 graciously and we all had a delicious dinner"

  • "This was our second visit to Gibraltar and our expectations may have been too high.. Our salads were excellent, a pear based salad for me and a beet based salad for my wife. The rabbit starter was good, well cooked and sauced, but the entrees were just OK. I had the rabbit which was flat in flavor and served with the wrong pasta; my wife had the pheasant, which was overcooked with a sauce that was a confusion of flavors . Nothing was actually bad, but I don’t think that is good enough for a restaurant with Gibraltar’s reputation."

  • "Second visit , a year apart. Each visit to Cafe Gibraltar has resulted in a marvelous dining experience. The Restaurant is mainly Morrocan and the menu honors its ethnicity, but broadly, so there is an interesting selection of appetizers and entrees. I particularly recommend the Tian, whose main ingredient is eggplant, baked with goat cheese (lots of it!). The polenta preparation was also marvelous. My entree this time was African Pheasant, prepared stuffed with a delicious combination of sage, chorizo and other Mediterranean spices and a sauce to die for! Absolutely delicious! My partner had a tenderloin of pork prepared also with an exotic sauce (not spicy). Unbelievably moist and tasty! Our compliments to the chef!"

  • "Great service, and Ricardo our waiter picked a wine that was delicious and perfect. We had the calimari dish over mashed potatoes that is unforgettable. My crab bisque was delicious too. I wasn't as crazy about my entree (the beef) but that could be that I was just so full of great food by that point that my judgment was impaired. All in all a great night with my husband and I will definitely go back."

  • "Everything was memorable and enjoyable from the time we entered the restaurant until we left. The atmosphere was inviting, the waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable, the food was beyond enjoyable, the wine was delicious, the experience was very relaxing, and the chef was very accommodating and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the view of the ocean in front of us. We left with a beautiful memory that will last forever."

  • "Service was excellent and attentive. We had three different entrees. The best was their "special" consisting of a Hawaiian fish. Very well cooked and presented. The lamb dish was seasoned nicely, but served tepid. The seafood soup was uninspired. Bread pudding for dessert was not up to the rest of the meal's quality."

  • "My wife and I went to Cafe Gibraltar for her birthday. We started off with the polenta and mushroom appetizer--very tasty! Ordered a nice bottle of Spanish red to go along with our entrees: she had the Moroccan lamb and I had the steak. Both were cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful! Flourless chocolate cake for dessert (on the house because it was my wife's birthday) topped off the evening! Our waitress was very attentive without being a pest and the whole evening could not have gone any better! I will definitely be back!"

  • "We had an early Sunday dinner (birthday celebration) at Café Gibralatar. We have been there a couple times over the past years but never have sat at one of their low tables so this time, we reserved one to have that experience. Certainly fun even if the middle age folks in the party had to change their sitting styles a few times over the course of the meal to avoid leg cramps etc. As always, the service and food were excellent and we were able to sit and enjoy instead of the feeling of being rushed. The live guitar music was lovely as background music. We love the local, organic but also food selections that " you don't get at home". The pork tenderloin was so tender and flavorful. We also loved the Mezza platter appetizer and beet salad."

  • "Very disappointed!! The restaurant has the best menu I have every seen but the food was very disappointing!! We were 11 people and I tasted almost all the plates. Nothing impressed me and I am not a picky eater. Not a good birthday for me :("

  • "If you love great food at a reasonable price, come to Cafe Gibraltar! Our experience was so wonderful, we immediately started planning a return visit. Our server had perfect timing, the environment was friendly and casual, and the view at sunset is amazing. It is a small restaurant so large parties might be difficult. I don't think they have a kid menu. It's not really a kid place. But it makes for a great date night!"

  • "We had their lamb signature dish. It was fine - for a STEW! And @$25, frankly, a rip off. The description on the menu leads one to believe you're going to get a piece of meat with quince glaze. Nope. Shredded meat, perhaps glazed originally, served rather commonly over a bit of rice. That said, the octopus/squid salad was terrific, and the service, especially from the hard working water carriers, was impeccable. For this kind of money, go to Pasta Moon: they bat 1000."

  • "We took advantage of their 5:00-6:00pm mid week dining special for $25.00 which included three courses. Only two dinner entrees were exempt and included salad or soup, and choice of two deserts. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The wine list is extensive but we brought a bottle paying the $15.00 corkage. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant, and it was very evident they were paying attention to us as we ate and drank promptly taking care of our needs. They've evolved in so many ways that if you're local or visiting the coast take advantage and dine with them. There are also numerous tables where you can sit on pillows, take you're shoes off if you wish and lounge while dining. Sounds fun if your with others."

  • "We have had many exemplary dinners at Cafe Gibraltar over the years. It never disappoints. We've taken our friends for their special occasions, our out of town guests on visits, and just the two of us for a great meal out. Always satisfying, never disappointing, and always executed to perfection. The Mediterranean based menu is incredible."

  • "Such a special place for a gathering of friends or just the right place to share with that special someone. Be sure and ask for one of the 4 booths where you recline amongst an array of pillows. With those of us with knee or hip issues, know that you can stretch out your legs for comfort. And then there is the Food! You will be very pleased with all you have! :) Enjoy! Aloha"

  • "Behind the traffic and weekend travelers along highway 1 is Cafe Gibraltar. A charming cafe settled within the neighborhood of El Granada. I must confess that I had only heard of Cafe Gibraltar once from someone who passionately suggested this location. Now that I have made my visit, I can certainly understand the perception. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We tried the lamb entree, Kuzu Ve Ayva Yhanisi, and the rabbit entree, Coniglio Con Funghi, which were generous portions. Dare I say it? I wanted to lick the plate. Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. We will certainly return."

  • "If you are looking for a restaurant that has a delicious and varied selection of food in a fun and lovely atmosphere, this is a gem. I had the crab benedict, flavorful, perfectly cooked. The crabcakes were moist and yummy, the eggs perfectly done. The avocado was ripe to perfection. My mother enjoyed their mouth watering Brioche French Toast with a reduced apple topping. I admit to stealing more than a couple bites from her dish. They also have dishes with mediterranean influences and of course California Mexican influences. The most difficult part of eating here is making up your mind on which dish to try."

  • "Cafe Gibraltar has been around for some time, there is a reason. The service, ambiance and food create a wonderful trio to make the dinning experience a real treasure. Your palate is in for a real treat, be sure to sample the small plates but leave room for dinner. And share desert. The lemon tart with lemon sorbet is a lemon lovers delight."

  • "We went there for Valentine's dinner and the experience was very good. Excellent food, service, atmosphere and price. I'd only wish they'd had curtains in their windows facing the street. I understand the view must be awesome during the day but at night, the lights of the cars are too distracting at night and they destroy the ambiance. We just move to the San Mateo cost from Marin and we don't have that many good options in the area, so we'll definite be coming back to explore their menu more comprehensively."

  • "Don't be afraid of the appetizers - they are good size and superb. An appetizer and salad make a great meal. Wonderful, wonderful food from all around the mediterranean. Expand your palate with comfort at a moderate price."

  • "This place is my fav place to go out for a special dinner etc. I had the brunch a whole back when started it and I couldn't believe how great it was. Service superb. Only criticisms: the coffee on Sunday was like Midwest watered down coffee. It was way too weak and I was surprised about this. Fix the coffee. The brioche was a little too wet and dense. It wasn't as light and crisp as the first time I had it. I still luv this place hands down. Will always go back."

  • "We went to Cafe Gibralta for a special outing/meal prior to my having surgery. It was all that we had hoped it would be and so much more. The food was outstanding, the service attentive. We left feeling as though we had been to a friend's home for dinner. Found out about the restaurant on Check Please Bay Area. We are looking forward to going again."
