Grilled Caesar, eggplant parm, the chef's special (salmon) and the bolognese sauce were all hits with our guests...an impressive variety, to say the least. Atmosphere is lively, occasionally loud, but it creates a convivial vibe, not an annoyance.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBig hit in Little ItalyWhile not as old or well-known by "typical Batimoreans" as some of the other Little Italy restaurants, Gia Ristorante beats them all with the quality of the food and the attention to detail of the servers. Family owned and run, Gia's turns out delicious "home-made" pastas and sauces as well as the old favorites, like chicken parmesean and shrimp scampi. The grilled calamari appetizer is not to be missed! The vibrant hand-painted murals brighten up the intimate setting. There is now seating on the second floor and a lovely patio for warm Summer nights. Comfort food all the way with a rich smooth sauce, and lots of cheese. The bruschetta was the best we have tried. Sauces were delicious and the dessert save us a trip to Vacarro's. Our waitress was excellent. We were meeting friends we had not seen in awhile to catch up. We explained that to her and she was very patient and helpful and gave us plenty of time without being intrusive or impatient. Wish we had gotten her name. We sat in the heated balcony and it was perfect.
