  • "Thank you so much to the fine folks at Cafe Fontana. The service is exceptional! Love the menu! Wine list rocks! Close to home. This is my "Go To' place."

  • "We have been to this restaurant several times, and each time the food is delicious, the servers friendly and professional, and the dining experience is an overall winner. We try to be health-conscious, but just cannot pass up the Torta di Formaggio - it is just too Yummy!"

  • "Our favorite neighborhood restaurant for good and consistant service. We like sitting outside at the fountain when weather permits. It features creative special selections every night. The owner-Chef is very creative and accessible. The wine list is reasonably priced. We highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "A hidden gem. I took a friend to brunch for her birthday - a first for her and the third for me. The chicken and waffles were cooked to perfection and the antipasta pie was very tasty. The portions are just right for a midday meal. The server was attentive but not overly so. I will definitely eat here again."

  • "My prom date and i went there because we wanted to go somewhere new. Everyone was nice to us and said that we looked good together. Nick was a great waiter and so was the greeter. And the guy that took our picture for us after we ate. One of the best experiences of my life and the food was delicious. Gets 5 stars in my book"

  • "I have been to Cafe Fontana 3 times now and it has been wonderful on each and every trip. Fabulous food with a charming and warm ambience, and great service makes for a lovely evening; Personally, I judge an italian restaurant by its red sauce and I must say that the chef has hit it right on the mark. Looking forward to my next meal at Cafe Fontana, which is Tonight!"

  • "Requested a private setting as this was a special occasion, (Anniversary) The request was not relayed or overlooked as our seating was in the main dining room. Did not expect anything extraordinary but having our conversation out of 'earshot' of the other diners would have been great."

  • "We were very pleased to discover this place. The food was excellent, as was the wine. All in all, we had a very nice evening, and will definitely return."

  • "Love that Café Fontana is so close to home. It's a perfect spot for an intimate setting. I hate it had been a year since I last ate there, but this weekend was well worth the wait. Keep up the good work Café Fontana!"

  • "This restaurant tucked away in old Cordova has become our "go-to" restaurant for special occasions and for "girl's day out" lunches. The food has always been good, the service usually good, sometimes just OK, however we are usually not in a hurry so the ambiance of the old house with the light shining in makes up for it and everyone is always very nice there. I know we will return."

  • "My daughter and I enjoyed our dinner at Cafe Fontana. The chef was kind enough to redo a menu item to skip the pesto and use a tomato cream base instead with scallops and it turned out great. The less than large Shrimp Al Fredo was the perfect size for me. The rustic bread with dipping sauce was delectable. A super good experience. I would recommend giving it a try."

  • "This is our third trip to Cafe Fontana and the food and service have always been excellent. Especially good are the grouper fiorno, the chicken rusticca, and the shrimp and grits (way beyond any shrimp and grits you are likely to have ever had. The atmosphere is nice and cosy and the servers knowledgeable, prompt, and courteous."

  • "I brought my parents to Cafe Fontana from out of town to celebrate my Aunts birthday. We got there and were promptly seated. I had high expectations. The service went down from there. We waited an 1.5 hours to figure out that our order had never been put in and had to get another waiter to help us so we could get food. The food we finally got was very tasty but still not enough to make up for the HORRIBLE service. Not so sure I'm going to venture back...it will be a while if I do!"

  • "This place has the worst service I have ever experienced in Memphis. We were served wine and an appetizer without any problem. But after an hour I had to go find someone to take our order for dinner. Also no one sitting in the area we were in was eating. Everyone seemed frustrated. Never could find anyone to pay for the wine when we were ready to leave. These owners do not have a clue how to run a restaurant."

  • "we had a group of 10 on a week night. the food was great, a lot of us never been to the place but it very nice. Only thing our waiter took a while to serve we waited at least 30mins before bread or water. It was a great experience. Would come again."

  • "We found out about this restaurant through a "best memphis restaurant" search on google. We had reservations after 6 pm and found that is just the time when everybody else on a Friday night arrives. Service was slow in the beginning , forgetting to get my glass of wine. However , once everyone was seated , attention to my wife and my dinner experience was acceptable. So putting that aside , the food was excellent and waitstaff attentive. We had an appetizer ( rotolo di melazane ?? ) which was awesome ! I had the chicken piccata and my wife had the grouper al alforno , both were delicious. For dessert we had chocalote torta , excellent ! We will certainly go there again , reservations are a must for Friday night however !!"

  • "Cafe Fontana offers a lovely ambience and the food is delicious and well prepared......the service, or lack thereof is what makes this review so much less than it could have been. If Cafe Fontana hopes to not only stay in business but grow its' business it must and I repeat MUST address problems with service. The waiter was incredibly distracted, unorganized and virtually inattentive. I would return in a heartbeat if and only if I could be assured that I would not have the same wait staff. To further add credibility to this review this was not my first encounter with this particular waiter and I left Cafe Fontana even more exasperated than with my first experience."

  • "This is a real gem in old Cordova. If you are particular, ulnar about wine, bring your own, the wine list is good, but not extensive"

  • "Having a fixed price menu on Valentines really wasn't a surprise nor a problem considering the quality of the food and the reasonable price. However,it would have been nice to have advanced warning. Overall a great experience"

  • "Terrible experience for the second time at this restaurant. The food is really good but the service we had on two occasions was horrible. This particular time: waited an enormous amount of time for our entrees, the waitress was totally clueless from start to finish, never checking on us while we waited and waited and waited for our food. Finally flagged down the hostess to check on it, which did get things rolling but then got ice cold meatballs. The owner was gracious in sending us home with desserts, but that hardly makes up for a loooong night at this restaurant. Will not go back. Ever."

  • "My husband and I wanted to have our Valentine dinner somewhere different than our go to special occasion restaurant. I saw an ad for Café Fontana in our local magazine and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was calming, just an all around pleasant experience. We will definitely be back."

  • "It was the day after Valentine's Day, so maybe they were still stretched thin, but the service was very disorganized. The food was rather bland, including the "spicy" Shrimp Diavolo."

  • "My husband and I went for a romantic Valentine's dinner. We had a salad and entree. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was exceptional. She had suggestions for us since it was our first visit. They had a nice wine list. Next time we are saving room for dessert!"

  • "We had reservations for Valentine's Day dinner. We checked the website's menu to get an idea of what we might want to order. I like to have an idea in advance, so I had already picked out an appetizer, wine bottle, and entree. However, when we arrived, as soon as we were seated, some weird appetizer was placed in front of us, and we were told our salads would be brought out shortly, followed by the entree. It was a 4-course, pre-prepared meal. We were not allowed to order from the menu. Plus, they were going to charge $75 PER PERSON! We politely walked out. They apologized, and said they thought they had called everyone with a reservation to advise about the limited menu, but we received no such call. We will not be back to Cafe Fontana."

  • "We went to Cafe Fotana for Valentine's dinner. We were told that the meal would be $75 per person. We expected the good to be off the charts. When we got there, the server as hostess were very nice. The menu on the table was almost completely in Italian. And the menu did not have any dish descriptions. The server had to describe everything to us before we could order. We got a good amount of food for the price. Each person got their own appetizer, main entree and dessert. The food was pretty good. I was hoping it would be better. The filet I got was not cooked as I ordered it. And the chef allowed no substitutions on the sides. The dessert stood out to me as it was delicious. All in all, it was a great dinner."

  • "We were the first reservation and it was 20 min before we had drinks With no apology from the waiter .in fact the table next to us told the hostess they were going to walk out because waiter hadn't been to their table either. Torte was wonderful, salmon was great, pork chop very disappointing , I have had it before and it was very moist and good ! This time it was very dry. Not a great experience for a 100$ meal!!!!"

  • "The food was great, the server was good, but the kitchen was a little slow, when the food did come it was hot and good."

  • "This dining experience left me disappointed. While the food was above average it was far from being the best I've ever had or even anywhere in that vicinity. And it was quite pricey. The waiter was attentive and the ambiance was quaint (although the chairs were wobbly and not very comfortable after an hour) but that wasn't enough to make me feel like it was money well spent."

  • "The cheese tort appetizer was terrific as usual. We had ziti and grouper and both were excellent. And our server was the best!"

  • "Ther service was great. We enjoyed the ambiance; the restaurant is divided into smaller dining rooms, which cuts down on noise and allows for a more intimate experience. I ordered the chicken piccata which was okay; my husband ordered the pasta special - chicken and pasta with a gorganzola cream sauce and it was to die for."

  • "Went on a Thursday night and I'm guessing they were having some kind of event in half of the restaurant. There wasn't a host to greet us when we arrived, they were understaffed server wise, and the manager actually walked passed a table that was expressing a concern about their dining experience to the server; might be slightly unprofessional. Wine selection was good, appetizer was good, my pasta was good, but my fiancés pasta was bland. We have eaten here before and things were much better, so i'm hoping this experience was just off due to being understaffed."

  • "I was very disappointed with Cafe Fontana. We were the first to be seated, but the last to be waited on. It took forever for us to receive our food. In fact, the two other tables were almost through with their dinner before we received ours. My friends finally received their entrees, but not me. I was told mine was being prepared. I finally received my entree about ten minutes after them. It was mediocre at best. They did take the entree off of my bill. I was grateful for that. Our waitress was nice and trying hard. I don't know what was going on in the kitchen, but they were definitely having troubles that night!"

  • "My wife and I enjoy finding restaurants that feature well-trained people serving up the not-so-typical fare inside of restored buildings in historic areas. This one fit the bill. We both ordered pretty safe bets - ziti with various meats for me and grouper with pasta for my wife. Both were very good choices that seemed to combine authentic with a bit of local flare. The only comment my wife made is the menu was not explicit about the fact the fish was served in pasta as opposed to with something else. Many of the items come in two sizes - great if you are hungry or want to take a box with you like I did. Prices are extremely reasonable - $75 for food, a couple glasses of wine and gratuity. This is $90-125 elsewhere. We will be back."

  • "Cordova is not the place that springs to mind when it's time for a special dinner. A fellow karate mom recommended this place to us, and I'm so glad she did. Right on the edge of the Towne of Cordova, this little standalone house becomes a very sweet, cozy, and intimate Italian restaurant. The seafood was all perfectly cooked, and we enjoyed the original and flavorful appetizers. The price is right, too- dressy enough to make it special, and reasonably priced enough to make more frequent special occaisions!"
