  • "Small menu, even smaller wine list. Perhaps they think Ann Arbor doesn't know how good a real Bistro can be."

  • "There has been a lot of positive buzz about the changes at Cafe Felix recently, so I wanted to check it out. A friend and I went on a Friday night. We were not disappointed. The menu had lots of interesting options from small plates to "artisan" pizza. We ordered a few of the small plates and the smoked salmon pizza. Everything was delicious (Mani is still the place to go for true wood-fired pizza). The service was very good. The atmosphere was pleasant, if a tad loud (a couple arrived to talk to another couple seated next to us. They proceeded to have a long stand-up conversation at the table, where one of women's bottom was almost literally in our faces...obliviousness). Regardless, we will be going back."

  • "Limited menu, good food. Noisey atmosphere which suited me fine because I got to sit next to, as opposed to across the table from, a beautiful dinner guest."

  • "The food was amazing. The roasted pork shoulder with braised red cabbage and apples is a must. Also they have a wonderful French wine selection and the lemon dessert was to die for. The warm olives are seasoned quite well too!"

  • "Food was excellent; portions could have been larger."

  • "Our first time during brunch was a delightful experience. I do not usually like a buffet set up but found it charming with varied choices, all delicious. My adult daughter has proclaimed it her new favorite restaurant and my husband, who has very specific food tastes, was impressed and found it to be completely enjoyable experience."

  • "I like Cafe Felix but i wouldn't say the food is outstanding........my kobe beefburger was pretty good but my friend's mussels were just so- so........way too much garlic and not a very great broth which should have had more wine and less butter and garlic........the french bread was great! it feels like a typical french bistro.......too bad the food isn't more french tasting!"

  • "We had a bit of an early dinner (5pm), so it was really quiet when we got there, but the food was amazing and our server was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and personable! :)"

  • "The Bistro Burger and the Scallops were awesome. Very good food and really attractive interior of the restaurant. Feels upscale and like you're somewhere other than Ann Arbor (in a good way)."

  • "My husband and I dined here with a reservation. The hostess refused to seat us in an area of the restaurant that was less crowded and we were sandwiched on a two-top between many other diners, when there were many other small tables available (they remained available the whole time we dined). We started with the mushroom crostini, which had good flavor. I ordered the scallops were very over-done, rubbery, and over salted. It came with kale and parsnip puree. Both of these items were served in amounts that would not feed a baby. There was about 1 tablespoon kale and a scant teaspoon of parsnip puree. My husband had the chicken which he said was tender. The women's bathroom had a dirty toilet and a very odd order."

  • "Very good food - I got the Brussel sprouts as a starter and duck for my main meal. We made a reservation for 8pm, but it took a while for us to be seated, and were offered free champagne as we waited, which was very nice! Our waiter was pleasant, but not very fast with taking our order or extremely attentive to our table as there was a large dinner party seated right next to us that he was attending to as well, which would be my only complaint! However... Would definitely go back!"

  • "Although I've always loved Cafe Felix and always gone there in the past, I find myself going there less and less. The food is outstanding, but the overall dinning experience is starting to go down hill. Previously, you always got bread and dipping oil and now it's like pulling teeth to get the bread and you only get it if you ask for it. Also, they have taken a ton of the amazing dessert options off the menu as well as off of the entree items. Also, on Monday nights, it's always $5 martinis, which was fantastic because they let you choose from almost any martini on the drink menu. However, now, you only get a select few to choose from and they are half the size. Lastly, the menus are all stained, which isn't appealing while picking my food."

  • "Cafe Felix is like going to the bistro on the streets of Paris. The new menu is interesting and well executed. We felt welcomed and cared for. Thumbs up!"

  • "Ate a Saturday breakfast/brunch here. Prompt friendly waiter, delicious salmon crepes and a ,great wine list. Walked in the door and hardly anyone was there at 1000 am on a Saturday. Nice bar with TV screens silently running baseball game, Glad that there are tables for two not that farmhouse table nonsense fad. Perfect location in Ann Arbor downtown to make a morning of it shopping at bookstores and other local shops . City bus service during the day and early evening but if you drive there are street meters for $1.50/hour."

  • "Cafe Felix has a convenient location and the food has its highlights and its disappointments. So we have learned to order carefully (which is not too hard to do since there menu is limited). The dishes to share are uniformly delicious, BUT why do they have share dishes with an odd number of pieces. Sharing 3 jumbo shrimp with 2 people is plain silly! Same for their Crostini - why 3 slices of bread instead of 4? They have a good selection of wines by the bottle, BUT the wine by the glass the list is very limited, overpriced and not many good quality choices. The service here is erratic - you have to ask for bread it doesn't come automatically. Once you are served it is sometimes impossible to find your waiter if you need anything else."

  • "Last Friday was the first time i had dined at Cafe Felix. Food was excellent, atmosphere was great and it was not real busy which made it romantic and a very enjoyable experience. Waiter seemed to slightly rush us in the very beginning, but that was a very minor complaint. I would DEFINITELY go back to cafe felix anytime!"

  • "We came to Cafe Felix for Valentine's Day and had an absolutely superb experience! The Cafe Martini's were great to start out with and then we moved onto the 5 course meal. The food was spectacular! I would recommend this place to any couple looking for a nice place to have a date night!"

  • "My husband and I had a leisurely Valentines Day dinner at Cafe Felix. Only suggestion to the restaurant would have been to inform diners on the open table website that there was a tasting menu for that evening. Because my husband is a particular eater, he had scoped out the menu online to determine what dishes he could eat. When we arrived at the restaurant we were informed that there was only the tasting menu being offered that night, or a couple of items from the regular menu when asked. That put my husband off at the beginning but he worked his way through the tasting menu to find dishes he could eat with minimal adjustments. Other than that we had great service from Jason, and wonderful ambiance from the French bistro and jazz music."

  • "Arrived early for 7:30 reservation. Daughter ordered scallops and already ran out. Ordered same appetizer as another table who ordered after us. Theirs delivered 10 minutes prior to ours. Other Service issues and martini tasted watered down. Food was just ok and experience was disappointing. Hope it was just an off night. Will not return."

  • "The French bistro ambiance is hard to beat. We were seated in an open alcove up front where the noise level isn't overwhelming. Our waiter was inexperieced but enthusiastic which makes up for lots of faux pas (as does a good bar which this place has). However, the wait staff had to contend with a very slow kitchen on a night when the place was one-third full. The food was fair. I just hope this was an off night because I would like this place to succeed."

  • "The food was pretty good, but the portions were really small. I ordered the duck, and was given a very disappointingly small portion for the $26 I paid. The restaurant was dark, but there were TVs on with basketball games playing. I was disappointed with the atmosphere because I was expecting something more up-scale."

  • "Really enjoyed the atmosphere, the service was excellent and the food was wonderful. We appreciated that we could take our time and didn't feel rushed by wait staff, which is usually the case when a buffet is involved. Highly recommend the bloody Mary bar, omelets and pastries!"

  • "We were looking for a simple dinner before going to a show at the Michigan Theatre. What we got was an outstanding dinner before a show. Our server was friendly and knowledgable, attentive without being overbearing and very efficient. And the food, oh, the food. We live over an hour away and would happily drive back just for dinner. Thank you for a delightful evening!."

  • "Our family LOVES eating at this place and we've eaten here several times. Food is consistently EXCELLENT. Service is always TOP NOTCH. Bar's wine list is good-sized - you will find something. I don't drink beer or martinis/cocktails, but those lists look good, too. This past visit was for a family celebration. Our dishes from appetizers (which we rarely order anywhere else, but these are amazing) to the soups/salads (the best French Onion Soup!!) to the main dishes (steak frites a family favorite!!). Menu also has cheeses/fruit selections that a true French meal would include between soups and main course. If I ordered that, too, I'd burst. Go hungry! Is a bit on the expensive side, but mostly only if you have drinks."

  • "Underrated charming spot on Main Street. Food was delicious with interesting and well priced wine list. Many restaurants with far less interesting food are undeservedly favored and Cafe Felix is better than most."

  • "It was hard to hear our dining partners due to music volume and lack of sound absorptive textiles/objects. Service was efficient but we were forgotten after we paid; no one came to check to see if we wanted water/more beverages. Food was well prepared. Restaurant week portion size was small; my husband got a steak entree that was smaller than what he is used to. Gnocchi were very good & flavorful, as was the ratatouille and chocolate dessert. Liquor selection would benefit from a facelift - Cocchi or Aperol or other interesting aperitifs would draw people in vs. bartender who says, "What's that??" which gave the sense that no one is leading the beverage program/trying to draw people in. Overall it was a good dining experience for A2."

  • "Attentive service even though it was extra-busy during Restaurant Week. Food was good, but portions were small. The mousse au chocolat was delicious; the tiramisu was still partly frozen when it came to the table, so was obviously either prepared elsewhere or ahead of time and frozen."

  • "It was the 2nd time we went to Felix. The best eating experience we have had in Ann Arbor, twice. In 12 years of visits. Nice menu, good wait staff, GOOD bar tender, great food. They had the Vesper Martini on the menu and I tried one. It was an experience, but I will stick with my James Bond martini's."

  • "Had a 7 o'clock reservation on New Year's Eve and felt very rushed by the server as soon as we arrived. We had to tell the server that we really wanted to take our time and enjoy the evening. There were still numerous visits back to our table. My entree arrived before I was even half-way through my salad (big pet peeve!). Two different managers came to our table to ask if everything was ok. I find this intrusive as well. I expected more from Cafe Felix, a place I've enjoyed numerous times and have recommended to friends. I should mention our dinner lasted about an hour and 20 minutes. We never intended to become "squatters" at the restaurant and keep the table occupied on NYE, we just wanted something that felt relaxed and not rushed."

  • "Cafe Felix is a versatile space good for a romantic dinner, friendly lunch or group celebration. On this visit the service could not have been better. We had lots of attention without it interfering; were served with thoughtful timing. I rated the food very good rather than excellent because one item was too mildly flavored for me. I'm told I am too fussy. We are not frequent diners-out, but over the years have tried many restaurants in Ann Arbor. Cafe Felix remains, by far, the restaurant we have returned to more often than any other--it is the most frequent choice of this picky person."

  • "Thank you Cafe Felix for a delicious, relaxed evening. We were drawn to you for the connections with local farms and food makers; we stayed and will be back because the food was delicious. We had two excellent rum cocktails -- Jules Verne and the Dark and Stormy -- and a great bordeaux; French onion soup; crab cakes; lamb shank; tiramisu and a sweet crepe. The unassuming vibe belied the truly excellent food."
