  • "3 tries to get the right bottle of wine: wondering how difficult it is to match up a title on the menu with a title on the bottle ordered garlic soup was served white bean soup asked 3 times for a spoon offered bread - never got it pork belly - skin not crispy... waiter didn't check in to see how it was going... i always had to call him over to ask for assistance"

  • "My husband and I are always amazed that we do not need a reservation and can always get into this wonderful restaurant. So we have come to think of it as the best kept secret in DC. Chef David Fritsche really knows how to cook. The menu is always fresh, imaginative and well designed. The food is absolutely superb, much better than what you would get at one of those very trendy restaurants in DC, and with a much more reasonable price tag. We enjoy the ambiance that the friendly service and good management provide and we love the decor with its floor to ceiling glass windows that make you feel as if you were dining outside even when enjoying the air conditioning inside."

  • "The food was fair. Our waitress was a bit indignant when one person in the group ordered a house salad and asked what type of dressings were available. The waitress stated that only one dressing was available for the salad and that the others were "specifically crafted" for the other types of salads. People should have options."

  • "Had brunch inside as it was too cool outside and they have no outside heaters. Service was slow. Food was fair. You have much better alternatives."

  • "Incredible location, incredible food, and an incredible hotel. I had the pleasure of staying there Friday and Saturday night and eating both brunch and dinner (and fourth meal) at Cafe Dupont and Bar Dupont. An enjoyable experience at every turn."

  • "Went there for dessert after dinner elsewhere. It was amazing and the staff was nice."

  • "You can beat the location of the restaurant. They are located in the heart of DuPont Circle. You can beat that at all. The food is OUTSTANDING. The update the menu quarterly. That's what we keep coming back. The service is unbelievable. I mean to add 3 components, 1. The location 2. Awesome menu and 3. Great service, what's else do you want more?"

  • "The food and wine pairings were phenomenal! Pricey meal but expected that going in, so no surprise there. One of my favorite places to take a date. Service was fantastic and informative. Ambiance was great too with flower pedals at the table and the menus were in envelopes with my name on them. Second time bringing my girlfriend to Cafe DuPont and was a 10/10 both times! Definitely will return."

  • "This is one of my favorite places in D.C. A trendy, high quality and romantic dining experience, Cafe Dupont truly is one of my favorite places for drinks or dinner in D.C. I brought my girlfriend on Valentines Day and Cafe Dupont made the evening very special. The food was flawless and outstanding and the service and atmosphere was sublime. I can't recommend this place more highly. For the quality and service of the experience, Cafe Dupont is also an extremely well-prices establishment in which to dine."

  • "Healthy and diverse menu for breakfast. Never know who will be sitting at the next table over either."

  • "I love Cafe Dupont - the menu, the cappuccino, the ambiance. Always lots of sun in the restaurant because of all of their surrounding windows. I'd recommend this place to anyone and commonly take folks from out of town here."

  • "We went for the DC Restaurant week special. However, none of the three choices sounded very appealing! Stick to the bar...they have a great happy hour with great drinks!"

  • "This place never ceases to amaze. Great breakfast menu that doesn't burst the bank including fantastic smoothies. You also never know what former Cabinet Secretaries might be the next table over."

  • "OK, a steakhouse would have been better to satisfy my craving for steak as the temperature on the meat was not right (got medium well, had ordered medium rare), but this was nonetheless a good cut of steak (rib eye), excellent sides, and wonderful happy hour pricing for the drinks & appetizers. I'll be back!"

  • "Went to Cafe DuPont for my girlfriend's birthday, they had everything set up the way I had explain in my reservation preferences. The waitress even greeted us by name - GF loved the attention to detail! Unfortunately, the waitress did notice that our table was too small to handle the cheese plate, oysters, serving of bread , bottle of wine, and our place setting. However, she didn't do anything about it and just continued to overload the table - we made the best of it. The the food was great, entrees were duck and pork. I would recommend Cafe DuPont for a quiet evening or suggest apps and wine for a larger group. Portions are a bit small but that could just be me. Definitely a neighborhood must - based on location, atmosphere, and food!"

  • "We were looking for a place to dine on Christmas afternoon and were led to believe that Cafe Dupont would offer a dinner menu and white table cloths according to the picture and other information provided. What we got was a crowded, noisy dining experience, no table cloths and, of all things, a brunch menu. More than a disappointment!"

  • "We love French cafés (le diplomate and cafe deluxe) and hadn't tried this place until Christmas. It is great for both a drink and eating and we will definitely be heading back! Brunch was fantastic and they had $5 mimosas and bloody Mary's."

  • "This place is usually my reliable choice for my neighborhood so I was disappointed by this meal. My duck was overcooked and the panna cotta was bland. The place was deserted on this Sunday night so the staff was attentive. Service was good and the recommended wine options were nice, too."

  • "Food was good, but the friendly and efficient staff made our dining experience very pleasant. Breakfast potatoes were barely edible. Eggs Benedict was delicious and the sauce was superb. My partner had scrambled eggs and said they were good also."

  • "Because I work in DuPont I'm always eager to run away when I leave the office. I had a friend in town for a conference staying at the Hilton up the block so a group of us met for dinner. Our waiter David was GREAT and patient with out table of 4 silly chatty hungry women. Per usual, all our meals were excellent as was the service!"

  • "We met friends there that we hadn't seen in a very long time. The menu is of a sensible size, not too big to be overwhelming but very interesting. The portions are sensible too. Wine and cocktails lists were extensive. The wait staff were very helpful. All in all a very good evening"

  • "One of the best places for breakfast anywhere. Great choices for everyone."

  • "Very good and reliable place for breakfast, brunch and lunch. (We haven't eaten dinner there). Coffee is excellent (YEA!) and the poached eggs are properly prepared on the Eggs Benedict variations. The quality of food is good, fruit that has been freshly prepared, bacon cooked properly. The ambience is great---clean, morning-fresh and lively without being obnoxious. Service is professional and friendly, not overbearing. If we lived in the neighborhood, we'd probably be here every weekend!"

  • "Service was fine, but my wife ordered ala carte and it took three tries for the kitchen to get it right. Duck confit was dry and salty. Wife's salmon was not cooked as she requested. Kitchen staff delivered food and did not understand English...latin cooks in a French restaurant did not help us pretend we were getting authentic French cooking. Food was average at best. Probably won't go back."
