Cafe Du SoleilDinner at 8Great food and excellent service. Really enjoyed the fish and seating is comfortable. Could be a tad less dark. Noise level was a little high, but manageable (not really very different from any other restaurant in NYC, unfortunately). I'll definitely go back.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe eat here regularly andWe eat here regularly and are never disappointed. Tonight we had a little bit of everything on the menu--escargot in a sharp garlic sauce, calamari--crisp and tender with a spicy tomato sauce. Butterflied sea bass and salmon were perfectly cooked as was the calves liver and, my very favorite--the poulet roti (simple roast chicken) with rosemary/garlic potatoes. Desserts included sorbet and gelato, a cheese plate and the outrageously delicious tarte tatin. Servers were helpful, glasses were always filled and the drinks were ice cold.
A little bit of Paris on Broadway............5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPre-theatre bargainPre-Theatre Menu is a bargain. Excellent mussels and garlic fries. Soupe de jour was a very good cold cucumber soup. Creme brulee was warm, not icy cold as at some places. Service was friendly, attentive and helpful. Other diners included a large group of Columbia students, and a young mother (apparently local) with a toddler and an infant who sat and ate at a sidewalk table. Good for people-watching along Broadway. Even with the group of students all talking at once plus the street noise through the open doors, the noise level was not bad. A very enjoyable early dinner.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunchA little noisy, menu could be more extensive but otherwise fine. The maitre'd, probably the owner, was a bit aloof - he became friendly and amiable when he found French diners he could talk to but was otherwise formal and unsmiling.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, Cafe Du SoleilAs always, Cafe Du Soleil was an enjoyable evening!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the prix-fixe pre-theaterWe had the prix-fixe pre-theater dinner. The price was right, the food was terrific. I had coq au vin and my colleague had pasta pomodoro. Both had delicious asparagus soup and good chocolate mousse. We had to compete with a loud party of 35, but the extra wait was minimal.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were delighted to findWe were delighted to find a special Sunday pre-fixe menu, which included very reasonably priced wines by the glass. Many choices, especially of appetizers.
