Cafe des Artistesa wonderful experience! We have dined here twice now - and are so impressed. Located in the Arts District, this spot is becoming popular with the downtown Dallas crowd, as well as the theater-goers. The restaurant is a tune to performance times, and will get you out the door in plants of time for your show.
The menu is excellent, and the wait staff truly wants to serve. There is a a nice wine list and a wonderful cocktail menu, and the night we were the tee, there was a delightful jazz band, performing without overwhelming.
We will return.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLombardi with a French accentWhether discussing business at lunch, enjoying drinks and dinner with a date, or sharing late-night dessert and snacks after a show in the Dallas Arts District, Cafe des Artistes aims to please. Service is incredible — friendly, helpful and accommodating without being pushy, and absolutely no pressure to turn your table quickly. Dining room decor includes show posters, highlighting the restaurant's proximity to the Dallas City Performance Hall, Wyly Theater and Winspear Opera House. Crafty mixologists behind the bar can create off-menu specialty drinks (including non-alcoholic refreshments) upon request. Outdoor seating offers a view of other restaurants and a water feature in the center of One Arts Plaza's valet parking circular driveway.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat LunchEnjoyed great food and service. Manny our waiter has it together. Made excellent recommendations. Preston the manager was most cordial and attentive.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner reviewSteak and Pom frittes were excellent. Sancerre... Bon! Service was good. Check it out!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall very enjoyableThe food was very tasting and appetizing. The prices were reasonable. The waitstaff were friendly. People watching was fun. The decor is in good taste. The only weakness on this occasion for us was the long wait we had for our dessert to arrive. But I must say, the restaurant had gotten very busy by the time we ordered dessert, so I guess that had something to do with it. Overall, our experience was positive and we would be inclined to return. And, I would recommend it to friends.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great! So was theFood was great! So was the service. A little noisey and hard to hear because of the live jazz band. Didnt realize when I made reservations a band would be playing or I would have picked a different night. I like to be able to hear the people at my table talking.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific Food, Very Friendly StaffThe food was delicious, the staff, especially the host staff and management was very friendly, and our waiter was very attentive. The piano player/singer was wonderful and it was overall a very enjoyable meal.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMa great addition to One Arts PlazaMy husband and I dined here recently and found the experience to be a complete package of excellence.
Nothing disappointed. We loved our server, Tommy. He made great recommendations and took good care of us.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBefore the show...Cafe des Artistes is a great destination for events in the various Dallas Arts District venues. We arrived at 6:30, had a leisurely dinner and cocktails and were in our seats at the Winspear by 8 PM.
Live music was a nice additon.
The One Arts Plaza valet parking offers an "event option" to park for $15 plus tip. If you dine at any of the restaurants, including Cafe des Artistes, and have your parking ticket validated, you may park for $5 plus tip.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place! This was only our second time to go, and our experience was way better than the last - - thanks to our server! We are sad to learn the escargot is going by the wayside, but we hope they're planning an equally French replacement!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food and service.Wonderful food and service. Great place for dinner before heading to a show or concert. Staff are attentive and sensitive to show start time. We'll be back!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMArrived for dinner and informedArrived for dinner and informed the waiter that we had opera tickets. They were most accomodating. The scallops de la plancha were delicious as was the butternut squash soup. Perfect evening to sit outside and people watch. Waiter was very good and pleasant.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent for Pre-Show Dinner! As big fans of the other Lombardi's concepts, we've been wanting to try CdA for a while. We weren't disappointed. We sat outside (bring your sunglasses, there isn't much shade even with umbrellas). Our server was excellent and had great menu advice. Food was very good. The menu is not for meat and potatoes types so come prepared. The Caesar salad was excellent (deep fried anchovies, butter lettuce instead of romaine-nice touch). The pasta dishes were delicious and the trout special excellent. We split the gelato/espresso dessert and while it was a mess to eat, it tasted great. One tip: the dessert menu has additional drink options (vodka drinks, etc.) that aren't on the regular drink menu so ask for that menu too.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMToo noisy added to by loudToo noisy added to by loud music. It was difficult to converse with the diners at the same table. The server was responsible for too many table to be attentive.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for Family BrunchWe chose Cafe des Artistes for Easter brunch. The brunchtime ambiance was lively and the food delicious. The beignets were a treat to start our meal. EverythingVernon was terrific! Everything delicious! Thank you.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMTie off a great date hereExceptional wine list. The Chauteneuf du Pape was tempting at that price, but I went for the Malbec by the glass. Exceptional wine selections. Braised ribs were excellent. Rasberry creme brulee was creative/inventive. Chocolate merainge was one of the best desserts my wife and I ever had.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the menu choices andLoved the menu choices and food. Great Moules Frites and Tuna Nicoise and a terrific pasta special. BUT, the piano player was much too loud during dinner. Maybe a barrier wall between the dining room and bar would help? Maybe playing soft dinner music until 9 or 10 pm would be better?3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMPalate Before ArtsMy wife and I dined at Cafe des Artistes for brunch before heading over to the Dallas Theater Center for a matinee performance of Red. This was our first time to visit the restaurant and we found it to be not only a perfect location for our purposes, but also an excellent place to start the day. We warmed in the comfortable, not-too-fancy elegance of Euro/Parisian ambiance. We both enjoyed a perfectly cooked and seasoned short rib hash and a subtly spicy Bloody Mary eye-opener, followed by (a shared) dessert, which is not our usual MO (a Mozart - layers of hazelnut meringue, Chantilly crème & chocolate ganache and chocolate sauce). Service was spot on and friendly. ...a very nice beginning to an overall especially enjoyable day.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter, Manuel, was fantastic! Our waiter, Manuel, was fantastic! The food was lovely. The atmosphere was fun.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGo for the food, not the service.Yes, it was crowded, but it took forever for us to get waited on. After we ordered and got our food, it was a rarity that we laid eyes on our waiter. Actually, it looked like they were understaffed. We loved everything we ate - - from apps to entrees to dessert!2/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed the turn of theWe enjoyed the turn of the century French look. The wait staff was outstanding. We sampled the delicious butternut squash soup, Caesar salad, house salad (the dressing was outstanding), moules & frittes, and a lobster ragout. We enjoyed it and would definitely go back. The mussel sauce was sweet and tasty. I just realized my daughter did not ask me to taste her lobster which can only mean it was so delicious that she did not want to lose a bite. However, she had no qualms about tasting my dishes!1/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
