We had our bookclub meeting there in the private space in the back, and it was perfect. The menu had great choices and the chef honored my request for peach cobbler (delicious)!! They were very accommodating to our group and our waitress was very attentive without being overbearing. She was friendly and accessible. We will definitely come back for our next meeting if they can accommodate us.

Nice place for after work, but we were ignored for 10 minutes, then 4 different servers approached to take our order, all within the next 10 minutes. And each one interrupted the conversation !!! They're very enthusiastic but need a bit of professionalism to go with the ambience. The 4-veggie sampling platter was very nice - spinach, brussels sprouts, sweet potato fries and ??? (forgot the last one) -- but the menu should specify there is bacon in the brussel sprouts! Overall, I liked it!

I have had lunch here maybe 10 times over the past few months and have never had a bad experience. The restaurant is extremely well-run, clean, inviting, and the food is always excellent. Everyone I have taken there has fallen in live with Café Deluxe. It is so nice to dine in a restaurant that has actually trained the wait staff!

This is about the 5th time at this location and Im happy to see it doing a great job consistantly. I wanted to make sure to sornd enough time here before posting. There were a few growing pains early but the food has improved and the service team is energetic and focused. Very happy to have a polished restaurant in the area that is not pretentious or over priced. Ernest and Un on the manager team are very natural at hospitality and genuine. The healthy deluxe, french toast for brunch and the flatbreads and salads for lunch are always delicious. It is also great to see a happy hour for a great value that is in such a nice setting. Ask for a window seat and people watch!!

We were pleasantly surprised, very nice with lovely decor. Quiet atmosphere in the restaurant, prices were great. The food was excellent with large servings, nice change from all the tapas. Our server, Terry, was excellent. The clam chowder had the most clams I've ever seen in a chowder. We will definitely return and would recommend Cafe Deluxe.

My girlfriend and I have been to Cafe Deluxe in West End a few times since it has opened, and we always enjoy it. The ambiance is comfortable, the staff is casual yet formal at the same time, every dish seems to have its own touch and great flavor, and we always leave satisfied. We haven't had a full dinner, but have gone in for several breakfast and lunch visits as well as a late-night stop after a movie at the cinema around the corner.

We had a group of 28 people on a tight schedule for lunch, coming from a conference at the Park Hyatt/Fairmont. We gave our group members printouts of the lunch menus ahead of time, so we all knew what we wanted when we got there. We were seated right away at 12:20, and the waiters took our orders immediately. We got bread and water within a few minutes, and our food came out all together about 10-15 min. later. We all had time to eat and talk and pay (separate checks, which the waiters handled well) and get back to the conference for the next session! We would highly recommend this place for a lunch crowd with a time crunch (know what you want when you get there). There is a wide selection on the menu to accommodate every taste and budget.

My girlfriend and I dropped into Café Deluxe after a play at the Kennedy Center when it popped up on OpenTable as a West End location open on Labor Day. We were glad we did. She got the Chicken Spring Rolls and Lamb Shanks while I had the Beet Salad and Flatbread du Jour. Everything was tasty. Service from Damien H was very attentive and informed. Café Deluxe is much better than most hotel restaurants.

My husband and I were staying at the Hilton adjoining this restaurant. We had dinner here the evening we arrived, and we liked it so much we had breakfast here the following morning. Both meals were very good ... the breakfast was especially nice. It consisted of scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, and the most delicious house-made biscuit with strawberry preserves and butter. In fact, it was so good that we didn't need lunch! One unique feature is the option for open-air dining. There are floor-to-ceiling windows surrounding the restaurant, and they can be opened or closed according to the weather or the diner's preference. We enjoyed them open for an alfresco experience, and we would certainly recommend the Cafe Deluxe to everyone!

The West End location of Cafe Deluxe is just what this neighborhood needs and has an expansive "something for everyone" menu. The food is solidly and consistently good as is the service. Think of it as an upscale diner with restaurant prices. Ate there over the weekend twice and both the salmon and the "plate of 4 sides" were good, however sometimes the veggies can be too salty. My companion seemed pleased with the wine list as well. The restaurant is large and has a nice atmosphere of lots of large window-walls that open up to the sidewalk. I've heard it's good for brunch but have yet to try it. Given pricier options, (Ris, Rasika & the restaurant at Ritz Carlton for starters) this outlet is well situated in a tony neighborhood.

First time at this restaurant and I was very happy with the food, the service, everything. A very professional, nice place at all levels. I don't eat meat so I really appreciate a good piece fish and the roasted snapper daily special was perfectly cooked. It was a very generous portion of fish, cooked with the skin on- crispy as it should be. Served on top of asparagus risotto. The bread is very good, too. I appreciated the gracious welcome at the door and the smooth service throughout. I will definitely return. I also am glad they are on Open Table.

First time at Cafe Deluxe. Went for Sunday brunch. Offered both brunch and lunch menu. Hard to decide between the two because both offered delicious variety. Will definitely go back to try lunch. Had wonderful make your own omelet with very fresh ingredients. Decided to splurge and have creme brulee for dessert, our favorite dessert. Unfortunately, this was a disappointment, creme part was runny and brulee coating was too thick and crunchy, more like peanut brittle. Pleasant service. Lots of kids, so pretty noisy.

We hosted a brunch here on Sunday morning the day after our wedding for 30 people. The food took over an hour. And they only had one server for our 30 people and so of course he couldn't handle all the orders, drinks and food. We had to complain several times before they started bringing things out. And it was just breakfast food...eggs and bacon...it really shouldn't take that long to make that stuff. And then on top of it, after i paid for the food, I must have left my credit card there either with the employee or someone else stole the credit card, but someone took it and went on a shopping spree. Luckily I found out right away and called so the cc company is taking care of the charges, but I will definitely not be returning.

Café Deluxe is nice enough. I am not sure why someone builds a new restaurant with so little thought to noise control. It was absolutely deafening. The waiter, Jesty, was very nice. But either he or the bar tender needs some training in drink orders. My dining companion ordered a Vodka Collins ( which is a Tom Collins made with Vodka). The waiter brought a martini of some sort. She ended up with a tall glass of some lemony concoction. But a little class in classic drinks would be good. I guess more people are ordering contemporary drinks so bartenders are not learning the classics.

I read reviews and some not so positive We were staying nearby and gave it a try. My initial impressions were not positive. We were seated promptly, but no one approached our table for 10-15 minutes, although staff and management were right there and looking at us. Finally, a manger approached us and asked if we were OK. I told him we had been there for some time and no one had served us. He asked if we wanted water/drinks and said the server would be right over. A server arrived quickly, we received water/drinks, and the manager personally brought us a complimentary Hummus Platter and apologized for the delay in service. Restaurant is new, good location, nice design and hopefully they will get some kinks worked out soon.

Cafe Deluxe does not disappoint! The food is excellent and the service is very good. The massive windows open onto the intersection of M and 23rd Street providing a never ending source of people watching and motion. Even during the hot and sticky summer days in DC with the windows open, you still manage to stay air-conditioned cool somehow, making your window on the world that much more enjoyable. This is a local chain restaurant, but I was expecting better. The food was totally average, and the service was friendly and attentive but special requests (i.e. bacon on a burger) were not actualized. The restaurant wasn't busy so this wasn't the reason for the lack of attention to detail nor the dullness of the food. It's overpriced for the quality of the food. I wouldn't return.

Menu offered a wide variety at reasonable prices. Three of the four enjoyed our meals. Server started clearing while one of the party was still eating (a pet peeve of mine) and then started talking about desserts. We told him to wait until all had finished. It took a very long time before he returned with dessert menus. Coffee was tepid and tasted stale. We couldn't find our waiter so asked another to contact him about the coffee. Another very long wait to give him our request and then finally to get fresh coffee.

I've frequented the original location of Cafe Deluxe many times over the years. It is a decent, mid-priced restaurant with enough options on the menu to suit everyone. not mind-blowing food but perfectly fine. only negative at this new location for this meal: bitter (perhaps burnt beans) cappuccino and the bar area is very loud so if you want to talk to your dining companions get a table towards the back of the restaurant.
