The lamb sandwich has so much grease or gravy, it thoroughly soaked the bread, so I ended up eating just the lamb and the measly layer of spinach. My companion had a salad with salmon, and had to ask twice for bread to accompany it. I asked for sweet potato fries to substitute for french fries, but they brought the regular fries. They exchanged the dish, but it meant a longer wait.

The waiter was nice but messed up 3 of 6 people's orders. For one person, the waiter brought out an entirely wrong dish- he decided to eat the different entree rather than wait for them to remake his dish. Most of the food was pretty good, but the salted caramel sundae was worthless. There was no heath bar or any form of crunch and hardly any caramel- it was essentially an overpriced bowl of plain vanilla ice cream. If I were the waiter, I would have offered some discount or free dessert for the multiple errors with the entrees, but we weren't offered anything. I'd go back, but not in a rush.

Our family of five (3 pre-teen girls) had dinner here the night we arrived in D.C. We were STARVING, but did not want to go to a restaurant that was just like the restaurants back home in L.A. Club Deluxe was the perfect touch. They seated us right away (6:30pm on a Friday) and the service was excellent. Their clam chowder was very good, as were the other meals we ordered. Good wine, great ambiance. Definitely recommend!!

I've been to the original up on Wisconsin, but this is the first time I had eaten at the downtown store. The menu is the same -- burgers, meatloaf, shepherd's pie, etc. Good ingredients, well prepared, and efficient service. Not the place to go for a special occasion but perfect for lunch or a casual meal.

Smiling staff when we walked in, and a super helpful and nice waitress. We loved the arancini to start and the mussels. Weekend evening was not crowded but there were enough people so that there was atmosphere. We enjoyed our meal and will go back. It is just a tad pricey for what you get, but it's a good place and the staff are pleasant.

First time at this location, the room, greeting and service was on point. Had the Ahi tuna rare which could have used more sear and served a bit warmer. The brussels on the side were too aciditic and undercooked. Overall good meal, not great. I would go back for another try.

Table of four. Food was mediocre and the use of canned corn is unacceptable with the fish special. Crab cakes soggy and the salad that accompanied the tuna was salty and inedible. Waiter kept saying to everything we orderd good choice one of my favorites - not!

Very disappointing! I've been a Café Deluxe fan for quite some time and just love their mussels so I was very excited when they opened around the corner from my office. I had a lunch meeting there and the mussels were very undercooked. Since it was a work related meeting, I wasn't very comfortable sending them back so I ate a few of them and just ate the bread.

I remember Cafe Deluxe being amazing when I used to go to the Wisconsin Ave location. The ambiance and location are good on M street but the food was just ok. Not anything I would look to go back for. However we went with our two young children and they were happy and the restaurant was very accommodating.

We have been here several times. It usually seems that one person likes the food that day, and the other finds it okay, but nothing special. The best all around luck with the food has been at brunch rather than lunch or dinner. However, the service is so good and pleasant that the overall experience ends up being positive. I think in the future(and we do plan to come back often because of the convenience), we might comment on the food specifically while we are there in order to effect a change with specific meals.

Overall really enjoyed Cafe Deluxe. We were there for brunch (breakfast and lunch menus). Our party of 6 ordered from both sides and all items were inventive, tasty, and reasonably priced. Wait staff was friendly and efficient. Bloody Mary was quite good, clearly not made from a mix (or if you guys are you do an amazing job) if a little pricey. Would definitely visit if in the area again.

I went here with a friend I hadn't seen in awhile so we were in no rush to eat because we were talking. However our server kept coming over asking if we were ready when clearly hadn't even looked at the menu. The was the only downside though. I got a flatbread and it was absolutely delicious and my friend also liked the salad she got. Overall a great restaurant and would definitely go back.

Having had only brunch here before, which was very good, I was really looking forward to what looked like a fantastic dinner menu. Had great time with two friends, very friendly and cheerful wait staff, but the food was not as good as expected. Appetizer of deviled eggs with crab meat was a disappointment and overpriced for what we got. We all got the meatloaf as good comfort food, as the waiter said some of the other entrees were not very plentiful. Would appreciate decaffeinated cappuccino and the caffeine free diet coke as advertised in the online menu, but not available in the restaurant. Will try Cafe Deluxe again for dinner to see if overall the food choices are better.

Nice place for after work, but we were ignored for 10 minutes, then 4 different servers approached to take our order, all within the next 10 minutes. And each one interrupted the conversation !!! They're very enthusiastic but need a bit of professionalism to go with the ambience. The 4-veggie sampling platter was very nice - spinach, brussels sprouts, sweet potato fries and ??? (forgot the last one) -- but the menu should specify there is bacon in the brussel sprouts! Overall, I liked it!

This is about the 5th time at this location and Im happy to see it doing a great job consistantly. I wanted to make sure to sornd enough time here before posting. There were a few growing pains early but the food has improved and the service team is energetic and focused. Very happy to have a polished restaurant in the area that is not pretentious or over priced. Ernest and Un on the manager team are very natural at hospitality and genuine. The healthy deluxe, french toast for brunch and the flatbreads and salads for lunch are always delicious. It is also great to see a happy hour for a great value that is in such a nice setting. Ask for a window seat and people watch!!

We had a group of 28 people on a tight schedule for lunch, coming from a conference at the Park Hyatt/Fairmont. We gave our group members printouts of the lunch menus ahead of time, so we all knew what we wanted when we got there. We were seated right away at 12:20, and the waiters took our orders immediately. We got bread and water within a few minutes, and our food came out all together about 10-15 min. later. We all had time to eat and talk and pay (separate checks, which the waiters handled well) and get back to the conference for the next session! We would highly recommend this place for a lunch crowd with a time crunch (know what you want when you get there). There is a wide selection on the menu to accommodate every taste and budget.

My husband and I were staying at the Hilton adjoining this restaurant. We had dinner here the evening we arrived, and we liked it so much we had breakfast here the following morning. Both meals were very good ... the breakfast was especially nice. It consisted of scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, and the most delicious house-made biscuit with strawberry preserves and butter. In fact, it was so good that we didn't need lunch! One unique feature is the option for open-air dining. There are floor-to-ceiling windows surrounding the restaurant, and they can be opened or closed according to the weather or the diner's preference. We enjoyed them open for an alfresco experience, and we would certainly recommend the Cafe Deluxe to everyone!

The West End location of Cafe Deluxe is just what this neighborhood needs and has an expansive "something for everyone" menu. The food is solidly and consistently good as is the service. Think of it as an upscale diner with restaurant prices. Ate there over the weekend twice and both the salmon and the "plate of 4 sides" were good, however sometimes the veggies can be too salty. My companion seemed pleased with the wine list as well. The restaurant is large and has a nice atmosphere of lots of large window-walls that open up to the sidewalk. I've heard it's good for brunch but have yet to try it. Given pricier options, (Ris, Rasika & the restaurant at Ritz Carlton for starters) this outlet is well situated in a tony neighborhood.

First time at this restaurant and I was very happy with the food, the service, everything. A very professional, nice place at all levels. I don't eat meat so I really appreciate a good piece fish and the roasted snapper daily special was perfectly cooked. It was a very generous portion of fish, cooked with the skin on- crispy as it should be. Served on top of asparagus risotto. The bread is very good, too. I appreciated the gracious welcome at the door and the smooth service throughout. I will definitely return. I also am glad they are on Open Table.
