I love this restaurant but still haven't forgiven them for replacing the tune in their nicoise with salmon. Please bring it back!

Cafe Deluxe is a go to for a family-friendly but quality dining experience. The service is always very attentive. The food is high quality, yummy and well prepared. While the menu is a list of standards that encompasses a wide array of cuisines (steak frites, meatloaf, pasta, mussels, chicken pot pie, fish tacos, grilled fish, salads, etc.) and nothing is innovative, or cutting edge, everything is always solid and done right. This is not the place for a romantic dinner for two or for impressing your foodie friends. It is the place a for a very good meal with friends and family at a reasonable price (for Bethesda/DC area) where everyone can find something they can enjoy.

I had a great brunch at cafe deluxe. the waiter was great and they had a reservation for 8 ppl less then 24 hours before we wanted to eat there. the food was really good until my friend found a long hair that seemed to be baked into his french toast. it still didn't ruin our bruch, but he should have complained about it.

My husband and I are frequent diners at Cafe Deluxe in Bethesda. I'm happy they now take reservations! The food and service are usually good and its a great neighborhood spot. My biggest complaint is that they took the best dish off the menu! The crabcake with the sweet corn sauce. It was fantastic. Now their crabcake dish is just like anyother place. Bring back the old crabcake dish!

We always enjoy the food at Cafe Deluxe. The burgers are especially delicious. The restaurant is usually crowded and noisy, so it's hard for older folks to hear what's going on at their table. This particular night, our food order got pretty mixed up. The service is usually better than that. The manager tried to make amends, which was the right thing to do.

My wife and I normally go to the Cafe Deluxe on Wisconsin across from the Cathedral, this week we wanted to meet a friend out in Bethesda. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. The place was mobbed for Sunday Brunch, but we had a reservation thru OpenTable and were seated immediately. We had the French Toast, an omelet dish, and the scrambled eggs w/salmon. Coffee and Mimosa all around.

Have eaten here several times and always is very dependable. Food was good at this visit. Had the meatloaf and was enjoyable. Beer list is okay, they were out of the first bottle beer I selected and they only have four beers on draft. Wait staff was very attentive.

  • Going downhill

I've noticed the quality of the food and drinks going downhill over the past year or so. My salad was wilted and the lettuce was BROWN. the ahi tuna pieces were very small and pretty much lacked any flavor. I had to return my drink twice - and I never return food or drinks because I don't like being "one of those" kind of diners. I am tired of getting sub-par food at these so-called "really great restaurants", so I have crossed Cafe Deluxe off my list and will not be returning. We were there on a Thursday night - which in Bethesda is a very busy night. The restaurant was 80% empty. maybe I'm not the only one who's noticed that the food sucks.

I've never had a bad experience at Cafe Deluxe. Indoors noise is a bit too high, however, this is one of my favorite spots to eat in Bethesda.

Celebrating a Birthday lunch with co-workers. The service was very slow. And the waiter brought one entree 15 minutes before bringing the others. We sent it back because it was cold by the time everyone else's meal arrived.

I've been to Cafe Deluxe for lunch and dinner many times and consider it a solid restaurant - good service, good ambience, nice outdoor option and solid to good food. This was my first time eating breakfast here and it was awful. Omelet with a bunch of ingredients just thrown inside a thick and stiffly formed outside with no cohesion, and breakfast potatoes that were cold and dried out. Same for a friend who ordered the same thing. Possible that it was just an off day particularly as it was in stark contrast to what I usually experience here food-wise. For now, I'll be limiting my visits here to lunch or dinner.

This is not fine dining, but rather good, solid American fare. Burgers are quite good and the special fish dish was very tasty. Can be loud due to number of children dining.
