  • "Just the pretty view you would expect from a dock-side restaurant. Although the bartender on duty was totally overwhelmed when we got there Sunday afternoon (the place should have gotten her some help) once we got to our table the service was crisp and the food was excellent. The portions were somewhat small but filling none-the-less. I had the restaurants version of Paella with cous-cous instead of rice (I like rice better) and it was delicious. My wife had the fish special and it was done well also. Worth a repeat visit for sure."

  • "Cafe Del Rey is a great. All of the tables in the dinning room over look the marina. The food is fantastic. The wine list and menu creative and reasonably priced."

  • "I perfect place for a business dinner with good food and wine, and not to big a place. Noise level on the higher end of the scale, but nice view when you have a window table."

  • "What a beautiful ambience at Cafe del Rey! We thought the Salmon on the Dine LA menu was superb and the service was fantastic. It sits next to the Yacht Club and has such a gorgeous view of the boats on the water!"

  • "Been dining at Cafe Del Rey for 20 years, a great setting. I was disappointed by the food experience this past time. The fish seemed "old" and not "right off the boat" Same view by my guest. Maybe an off night."

  • "The fish is always very fresh here and well prepared. They have some non fish items for those in the party that don't care for fish, but we always get fish. On this visit, the service was very good. The service is normally good, though when it is busy the service sometimes slips a bit. The wine list is good with some acceptably priced wines by the bottle. The wines by the glass are a better deal than they appear as they usually poor generously. The restaurant's wall that faces the marina is all glass, ask for a window table so that you can see the boats in the marina. The downside of the window tables it that if the restaurant is busy, the noise reflected off the wall of glass can rather drown out the conversation at the table."

  • "We have been coming here to celebrate special occasions. Mary at the bar is one of the main reasons. Always makes us feel special and we really appreciate her level of service."

  • "The food and the service was truly excellent A bit more noise dampening and opening up the window side with floor to ceiling glass would up the place from good to great. Dont miss their line caught Swordfish. Its perfect. So kitchen is excellent, service is nice and good, environment also."

  • "The staff here is delightful! Very friendly, feels like a "local hangout". We came for a birthday dinner. They sat us at a table with an amazing view of the harbor. There was even a custom printed menu that said "happy birthday". The meal was delicious, we loved everything, especially the key lime pie dessert. The final nice touch was the gift box of cookies the valet placed in our car. I was thrilled with this restaurant! We will be back!"

  • "When we arrived at the restaurant, we noticed a sulfer-like odor as soon as we entered and it remained during our meal. We mentioned it to the server but nothing was done about it as far as we knew. We would have left the restaurant but we did not have time to go elsewhere. The ambiance is only fair and the place seemed dated. The food was acutally very good but the portions were very small. Specifically, the beet salad and tomato soup were excellent. However, given the overall experience, I would not return to this restaurant."

  • "It's always a pleasure to dine here. The staff listens to our needs, not only in making the reservation, but in the dining experience."

  • "Very pleasant experience, staff friendly, but I think you need to offer a few nice salads, ladies like those for lunch instead of heavy main courses!"

  • "The waitress was pleasant and attentive to just right degree. The food was outstanding. The ambience was pleasant and relaxing. Overall, my recent dinner at Cafe Del Rey with old friends that I hadn't seen for a few years couldn't have been more perfect."

  • "Great service, food was yummy! Perfect dining experience. The waiter made me feel extra special with a wine flight to start and a desert with candle to end the evening@"

  • "My wife and I had dinner out without the kids. We had great food. However, there was a large corporate group in the bar, which is immediately adjacent to the dining room so when we were seated far away from the bar, I was relieved. However, 30 minutes later, the entire group entered their "private" room which was located just feet from our table. The door was left open for a long time after their event started and every time the door would open it was super loud. So, looking for what we thought would be a quiet dinner did not turn out that way. We decided not to stay for desert/after dinner drinks - went to another local spot. The food is great, just be wary of a loud bar scene and possible party groups right next to your dinner table."

  • "Whenever I want to invite my guests to the finest restaurant in Marina del Rey, I take them to Café del Rey. The food, service and ambience are great. And yes, they have the finest truffle pizza (an appetizer) that I have eaten anywhere!"

  • "I have been to Cafe del Rey many times. As always, great service and excellent seafood. Watching the sun set on the marina is a special treat. I hope to return there soon."

  • "Just loved it. We had an appetizer to share (miso fritto) and two different main dishes (bento box and the barramundi). One great red wine by the glass and a beer. The dessert was the home made sorbet. Will come back for dinner next time."

  • "WE chose Cafe Del Rey for convenience as much as food. We were very pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality and great flavors. Our server, Nicole, from Australia, was absolutely great! She did a very professional job suggesting dishes and making sure that everything was perfect for us."

  • "I have been going to Cafe Del Rey for years for the Sunday Brunch. Unfortunately the food has been very disappointing my last few visits. Even the little muffins were dry and tasteless. Maybe they are just getting them from Ralphs down the street. The service and the ambience is still great, but I don't think I will be going back anytime soon."

  • "I had friends coming in from Australia and New Zealand and wanted to pick somewhere special. Cafe Del Rey was the perfect choice. They even assigned an Aussie waitress to our table from a different section! We closed the restaurant down :)"

  • "We enjoyed our lunch at Cafe del Rey. The food was well prepared and yummy. The service was attentive. I did find it a bit noisy for quiet conversation. I will definitely go back as it is a very pleasant restaurant."

  • "The location is very good; the decor is nice; the lighting is excellent. This was not our first time, but after a couple of years we thought things might have improved, because we like the location. Things are the same: poor, inattentive service: the seemed to have forgotten us, in a half empty room, not unlike last time. The food in my opinion is no more than third rated. This is a place where I would not visit more often than every few years. Too bad, because with the location, this has the potential of being a dynamite restaurant."

  • "Great place to catch up with "old" classmates. Hadn't talked with another classmate since graduating high school (43 years ago) in Indiana. We had a 2.5 hour lunch and were not rushed by waitress or waiter, who said just flag us when you are ready. Lunch was wonderful, the salmon so fresh. Love this place for its food, but the experience of not being rushed was a huge plus. Every time I've been to Cafe Del Rey over the last 20+ years, it is consistently wonderful. Also valet parking is easy."
