Diner Reviews
  • "The food was fresh and seasoned with care. The presentation was genuinely artistic. Our server took a lot of trouble to provide excellent service."

  • "I loved this place, a real French cafe clearly influenced by it's French operators."

  • "I went to Cafe de France for my birthday and it was not a very positive experience. The ambiance and interior design was mediocre, the food was ok but what made my friends and I really uncomfortable was our waiter. Now I am not saying this to get anyone into trouble but it has to be said he kept coming back every minute, wouldn't give us any space and kept saying how he knew us. Now I get it, young guy tries to be cute with a table full of girls but come on, be a bit more professional. This is not TGI Fridays. People eating in restaurants like their space and help when they ask for it. There is room for improvement. It could be a real Park Ave gem, just needs a little interior TLC and courteous service."

  • "The place was great with very friendly and accommodating staff. While waiting for the balance of our group to arrive, we sat outside and they brought cold water to drink and inquired if we needed service. Meanwhile they got our table ready inside and asked us to just wait inside for them. I had the Rack of Lamb (daily special) which I found good, but not great which is what I would expect from a French restaurant and a daily special. I even had to add salt to it to get any flavor to come out. I did try the Coq Au Vin that someone else was having and found it wonderful. Everyone else was very satisfied with their meals. Price was reasonable and not overly expensive for a French restaurant. I would go back and try something else."

  • "One of the best french food in Florida, if not the best. Will GO back everytime i come to Orlando."

  • "Not a foodie, but the food here was amazing. Everyting was cooked to perfection. The service was attentive without being intrusive or overbearing."

  • "A group of us attending the Rollins Reunion selected Cafe de France as a special occasion dinner. The steamed mussels were exceptional, the airline chicken was outstanding, the sword fish was excellent, the Coq au vin was to die for and the Pouili Fuisse 2010 was ideal ! What a way to celebrate and reconnect with friends of 35 years ! Thanks so much Cafe de France !"

  • "Not perfectly executed but almost, and if one is willing to overlook minor gaps, it'd be a five star. Real French food and great location. We like it so much that we're grading it hard."

  • "Food is excellent overall. However, portion size on the seafood special (2/15/14) was too small (more like an appetizer) Service was a bit rushed and uneven."

  • "If you are looking for a place where you can get a taste of "La cuisine francaise" ... this is definitely the place to go ! Food was excellent (we tried the "salmon" and "pate" as apetizers + the "coq au vin" and "osso bucco" as entree). Service was great."

  • "Love coming here. The home-made Pâté is terrific, the mussels were in a creamy herb-filled wine sauce great for dipping, and we had the special -- Tile fish over haricots verts, perfectly cooked, with a plum-onion-olive relish, which sounds odd but was delightfully savory & sweet. We had the Sancerre with our meal which was also the perfect pairing."

  • "I had heard of Cafe De France from a friend and it was everything they said. I took my wife there for her Birthday and it helped make the night magical for her. It certainly helped being in the beautiful downtown area of Winter Park. I also enjoyed the fact I good order flowers to be at the table when I made my reservations But once there the food and service was excellent and I would suggest a trip there to anyone. We will be back, it is on our Fav list now!"

  • "We had a great experience. We were greeted and seated on time. The menu was explained thoroughly. We had a veal dish, beef and the fish of the day. All were prepared and presented quite well. When we are back in the area we will visit again. Our waitress was very patient with our questions. Thank you."

  • "Wonderful French cuisine withouth the heavy, overly dramatic sauces. Portions are decent, unlike other pretentious French restaurants in town. The service is always exceptional and it is always a fantastic experience."

  • "We loved the dining experience at Cafe de France. We have lived in Francr for 10 years and this restaurent rates an 8-9."

  • "The pate was delicious. My lamb shanks were good. My husband had venison which he ordered medium rare. It came well and tasted like liver. When he sent it back they were uncertain as to next steps. We asked them to try again. The second time it was cooked correctly but very tough and grisley. Owner had already left and no apologies given. Would never go back. Wine list very mediocre."

  • "I can't believe that we had never been to Cafe de France. It's a wonderful restaurant. We'll definitely go back. The food was delicious and beautifull presented. Our server was a real pro. It was just a great night."

  • "The food was prepared well. The restaurant had little ambiance and our original table was too open to foot traffic. We asked to move to a table by the wall when it became available."
    Dined on 2/22/2013
  • "My husband said he had the worst piece of fish he had ever had. Add to that the price and I don't think we will be going back."

  • "This is among my favorite restaurants in Central Florida. Good service. Good food."

  • "While we enjoyed our dinner...It was expensive !! don't know if I would go again except maybe lunch."
    Dined on 2/5/2013
  • "Surprisingly for a Saturday night there were several empty tables when we arrived and by the end of the evening I could sense why. Service was attentive but at times confused as three different staff members would ask the same question. The food was good and the presentation was fine but the restaurant just does not seem to have a comfortable feel. Given the prices, Cafe de France just does not inspire the desire for a return trip as there are too many other places that are superior."
    Dined on 2/2/2013
  • "I must admit we did arrive 30 minutes early for our reservation but walking by we saw many several open tables so we went in and asked if it was a problem. They were very gracious and sat us immediately. Then we waited a good 10 minutes before the menus showed up or water was served. Then another 10 minutes before some bread was served, though it was hot and delicious. Another 30 minutes went by before our pate came out. What I cant understand is pate is already made. Why on earth would it take 30 minutes to slice and serve pate? Once it arrived the remaining items came without delay. Was it the best french food I've ever had? No not really but it wasnt bad either. Would I go back, probably not."

  • "This Winter Park gem is always on top of it's game in every way. I go there for either a quiet dinner with friends, a romantic dinner with my partner, or for group special celebrations. You can never go wrong at Cafe' de France!"

  • "Consistent quality. CdF has a stable menu of french favorites, fresh and sometime inventive preparations for their specials (their fresh fish is always a wise choice), and above all, always delicious. Service is attentive, but not overly so (no hovering allowed), and has the perfect atmosphere for celebration dinners - not too stuffy. With a full bar, a varied wine list, and dependable (if not overly inventive) desserts, it is rock solid reliable."

  • "Overpriced for the quantity and quality of the food. We visited twice in three weeks -- disappointed both times. Better french fare available in Winter Park."

  • "It was a very enjoyable evening. We recommend it for a great meal with great service."
    Dined on 10/20/2012
  • "It wasn't great. The lamb shank was a bit stringy and we felt suffocated by the waiter, who practically stood at our table. Good servers know when to leave their guests alone to enjoy their meal. The experience was uncomfortable. We will not be returning."
    Dined on 9/29/2012
  • "The food and service were excellent. What detracts from this restaurant is the ambiance and noise. There is nothing particularly nice about the decor and the noise level was unacceptable. Both detract from the exceptional cuisine."

  • "You can definitely tell that this is a neighborhood staple. Everyone seems to know everyone else. I had the duck which was amazing as was the crepe dessert. You will feel like you're in Europe on a relaxing night out. No rush...just enjoy the food."
