Just what is going on here?.........how do they manage to produce such high quality food from a kitchen so small? Very high quality and interesting food and very reasonable prices make this a "must".

This neighborhood gem is modest in decor and size but has outstanding dishes worthy of a much fancier restaurant. My husband and I had the brie and honey appetizer and it was delicious! I had a wonderful scallop meal. I would recommend Cafe Condesa to anyone interested in a yummy Mexican style meal.

Phone line was broken. Credit card machine broken. Our very friendly waitress was running on her feet all night. The other unfriendly "waiter" must've been an owner. After being there for 4+ hours, he seemed to want us out. Having been told about the great food, I was a bit disappointed by the scallops I ordered. But the chocolate cremé brulee... wow that was some really amazingly good stuff.

  • Went there for dinner on Sunday

Went there for dinner on Sunday night with a close friend. We were seated at a table closest to the window which was great for people watching, but the table on the other side of us was extremely close and I felt as though the couple was listening to our entire conversation. It was difficult for the wait staff to reach us to even take our order without shouting over the couple sitting next to us. The food was good but nothing spectacular. I wouldn't make the decision myself to go back, but if a group of friends were going I'd probably joing.

The service was excellent and the ambience was very good. Three cheese, portobello salad was excellent. Shrimp and pasta dish could have been better. Pasta and sauce were very good, but shrimp had no taste at all. Ravioli dish was okay, but nothing special.

My friend was late and I was annoyed. The server joked with me and plied me with wine (offering tastes so I could choose) while I waited. He was lovely and adorable. We ended up eating at the bar once my friend arrived (by choice; we were offered a table). Food was presented beautifully and was delicious. We started with a yummy ceviche, then shared two entries-the scallops (I highly recommend them) and the salmon (also quite good). This is a fun go-to in the West Village. It's also very reasonably priced.

I like this place a Li. I usually have the fish Veracruz, but opted or the pan sautéed salmon and it was terrific. The 3 cheese portobello salad is also a favorite and was as good as ever.

Cafe Condessa is the perfect little place for great food and conversation in a comfortable, intimate setting. On a Friday night, I met a friend who I hadn't seen in months. We'd made a reservation for 7:30. I was seated as soon as I arrived, even though my friend was a few minutes late. The servers were happy to let us spend 3 hours at our table, without rushing us at all. The food was delicious. I had the scallops with cauliflower and she had the seafood pasta. It was my second time there, and I'll be sure to be back.

Really unimpressed. Service was below average; when we asked the waitress for her recommendations, she seemed put out and simply said, "Everything's good." The small space was only half-full, so there was more than enough time to go through a few suggestions. The whole experience just felt really standard - there's absolutely nothing special about this place; it will - and should - remain lost among all the other great places in the WV.

We were all very happy with our experience with Cafe Condesa. Close to the Village Vanguard, we had chosen it for its lcation and price point. The cafe is small, dominated by windows looking out obti the street and the kitcen area behind the counter. The atmsphere is casual and pleasant. The one waitress very accommodating and nice. The food s very good with a latin flair. Some of us had the lamb which came with a delicious creamy corn salsa. We also enjoyed the desserts, all made on premses.

I went to Cafe Condesa with two other people. I got the Striped Bass in a tomato based gravy over rice and loved the flavors - lightness of the fish with the boldness of the tomatoes. My friends did not have much luck with their food though - the lamb chops were flavorless and the pollo enchiladas were dry (nothing worse that dry chicken). What made the evening worthwhile though was the good service and cozy ambiance.

Nothing special about this place. Relatively cheap with good food, but nothing to write home about. Seems to be a popular spot for the younger crowd (20-somethings) because its fairly priced. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but I wouldn't go out of my way not to eat here again either. A perfectly average place for a casual meal.

Had an amazing dinner with friends at Cafe Condesa. We could all hear each other even though the place is smaller. Two of the 4 sides have big windows which makes it feel spacious and best of all the dishes are really special - it was hard to pick what to get and the prices were really affordable. As my friend who had the lamb said, "I can't get over the value you get when you come here. Great food, great price."

I ordered pork, they brought out lamb. When I informed them of their mistake they offered me 1 free drink, which did not compensate for me having to watch the rest of my table enjoy their dinner. My food eventually arrived 15 minutes later. The waitress then forgot to bring our check for approximately 35 minutes, at which point we saw that they did not even get the free drink part correct.
