This hit the spot! We went on a Tuesday, so the crowds were non-existent. We were one of two groups dining in the cafe. Despite the slow look of the place, the wait staff was fantastic and the food really took it up quite a few levels.
Service was great, food looked and tasted delicious, and it felt intimate, without the stuffiness.

Now it is a regular stop for us, before theatre, or downtown for any reason. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable about menu ad wine options, and the food is always delicious and fresh! Waiter was excellent and helpful. Orders were taken with questions answered. Appetizers were awesome. All orders were delivered within minutes of each other so we could eat together and enjoy. Everyone seemed pleased with their food.
Waiter made sure everyone had enough to drink and eat and when we left, we were thanked for coming. Felt like the place I used to go when I lived in the midwest. The place is rather small, but not crowded, so it's not hard to get a table even without a reservation. The attentiveness of our server and the owner (who stopped by more than once) helped to make our experience even more memorable. As diners know, a restaurant's food can be very good, but it is how you are treated which really makes you want to return. The owner has rebuilt the patio so we plan to dine there again when the weather is warm. We sat by the window and watched the activity of Larimer's Square and Writer's Square...fun and lively, even on a Sunday evening.
