Our wine & beverage program from Wine Director Sarah Knoefler highlight grape varietals from the Loire Valley, a selection of French-focused aperitif drinks, and international and locally made beers.

Designed to feel as if the restaurant has been nestled in its location for decades, the intimate surroundings evoke old world French glamour and gentlemen’s club-chic. Drenched in vibrant nostalgic flair, the restaurant’s coquettish space proudly boast antiqued tin ceilings, burgundy flocked wallpaper, dark wood wainscoting and shimmering vintage chandeliers sourced from France.

  • "I dine out at least 4 time a week and largely enjoyed Cafe Claude, downtown for several years. Happy to know that they were bringing this French Style Bistro to the Marina. Been there three times and I'm calling it a strike-out. The wait staff couldn't be better but the food preparation is abysmal. Who is managing the kitchen, no one! Certainly no one from downtown."

  • "While the waitress was friendly and knowledgable, we found the food to be average and the wine pricey. Small wine glasses with small pours. The setting was pleasant and clean. Music was upbeat and matched the decor. The bar felt like one you might find in New Orleans. We liked the setting very much but won't be back due to the small, overpriced glasses of wine."

  • "Meet a friend here for dinner on a raining night. It wasn't crowded at all and we had excellent service and follow up. Great French restaurant added to the neighborhood. i had the Steake Frites and it was delish! The frites were just as I like them crunchy. Steak was cooked just right and was flavorful. The coq au vin was good as well. I would definitely come back."

  • "The Boyfriend and I celebrated my Birthday at Cafe Claude in the Marina Saturday night. We've loved the downtown location over the years, and wanted to give this new one a try. We really enjoyed every bit of it! The decor is lovely, dimly lit and romantic. Our server was an absolute delight! The food was spot on, mac and cheese and beet salad to start, the special beef bourguignon for him and the petole sole for me. Delish! We also had a side of the carrot-cardamom puree which was to die for. We finished with Moelleux au Chocolat. YUM!"

  • "C'est magnifique! This restaurant really did have the feel of a café in Paris as it's small (but not too small) and intimate. The cuisine consists of the traditional French food that we prefer: Coq au Vin and Beef Bourguignon. Other excellent preparations include the Petrale Sole, and the Charcuterie. This was our first visit but we want to return to get our French Food Fix - absolutely DELICIOUS! The only drawback, the wine pours are definitely skimpy!"

  • "We were looking for a romantic spot for valentine's day. The ambiance of the place is very nice, pleasant decor. Service was generally quite good. The menu was a fixe prix, with two appetizers, main courses, and desserts. I had the crab appetizer, which was tasty but not spectacular. The lobster flan was a bit odd, served in an chicken egg shell. I had scallops for the main course, which were great, and my wife had a filet mignon, which was also very nice (although very rare, rather than medium rare). The desserts were also nice- a deconstructed chocolate eclair for my wife, and a lavender infused creme brulee (I think plain vanilla would have been fine). In all, a pleasant meal and a place we could talk and enjoy our time together."

  • "Overall it was good, not incredible. We shared mussels and pomme fritte to start. The mussels and sauce were good, but not hot enough and I would have expected little forks to eat them with, not spoons. I had the petrale sole - pretty good, but a bit mushy and not very flavorful. Other people had coq au vin and beef bourguinon, which were both good, although I only had tiny bites so I'm not certain. The chocolate mousse tasted more like pudding, but was still tasty. Even though we weren't drinking alcohol, the waitress never asked if we wanted drinks. Even so, service was good and we weren't rushed out of there. A big plus was that it was definitely quiet enough to talk. The restaurant is also very pretty."

  • "Cafe Claude is not as French as it's outpost on Claude Lane, but it does offer some very good French style dishes on it's menu. But for a neighborhood place, the prices are a little high-daily specials are $28. Smartly, I think, it concentrates on a smaller size menu. Lighting is dark, tables are close. Worth a visit but check prices before you go."

The new outpost is amazing, great design, awesome food (I am a huge fan of moule frites and they were great), and very professional and engaged service. Went during the evening and the weather was not right for out side but small patio would be great on a nice day. Great wine list and delicious desserts, can't wait to get back and have the steak frites another one of my favorites."

  • "We spent a day at Crissy field with the dogs then to Cafe Claude's Marina outpost. We were warmly greeted and then led to a cozy banquette in a very French room. Melissa provided expert, informed, relaxed service with a smile. Starting with a duo of roses- sparkling from Limoux and a pink still from Provence we settled in. Beignets au chevre and celeriac soup to start followed by steak frites and mussels with a side of Brussels sprouts. The food was on point from start to finish- someone is cooking with love and care. The menu is classic and the wines had a nice balance between France and California producers ( a Gamay from high Sierra foothills in El Doraddo Co from Edmonds St. John was delicious.) A very nice meal from start to finish."

  • "We were a group of five celebrating a special occasion. I had been to Cafe Claude downtown and enjoyed it very much. So we thought we would give the recently opened Cafe Claude in the Marina a try. What a terrific experience!! We were seated immediately on a Friday night with reservations made two days before. The decor of the restaurant is intimate, romantic, warm, and inviting. We were seated at a very private semi-enclosed booth which was perfect. Even though it was a Friday night, and the restaurant was relatively busy, we could easily hear each other talk. Our server, Melissa, was superb. She was friendly, informative, sweet, and very attentive. We will be dining again soon at Cafe Claude in the Marina! HIghly recommended!!"

  • "Went here for a date and it was a great spot. A little pricey for 4 glasses of wine and two entrees but the food was very very very good. We both had the short ribs and it definitely was worth it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice date spot or a place for a special occasion. The atmosphere was very nice while the service was good, but not great. Food was the highlight."

  • "We had a group of 6 people for dinner and the restaurant was not busy, so how could they completely overcook 3 steaks?! The steaks had to be sent back, the rest of the group had to start eating or our meals would have been cold while the other 3 had to wait for their steaks to be re-done. Also, it was a ribeye but the thinnest steak ribeyes we've ever seen and very fatty to boot. Horrible and frustrating. And to then not even comp us on a couple of the meals or a bottle of wine for the major screw up? So dissapointing."

  • "This feel more like an Irish bar than a French restaurant - no white table cloths (or any), crowd was dressed down, bar is focal point. Also - it was cold. My wife wore a dress an cold air blew at her legs from under the bench and when we asked for some heat, they moved us across the room. People were wearing coats, shawls, sweaters, but the staff seem to keep the temperature where they want it as they are moving around. We had: Warmed camembert with fig (very good) Escargot with pastry top (very good) Beet and chevre salad (meh) Duck confit (excellent) Seared tuna (covered in sauce - not so good) Chocolate cake (excellent)"

  • "The food, ambiance and service were all very good, but the wine list was "too California/USA. This is a French restaurant/bistro with very good French food and service, but the limited number of French wines offered by the glass/half bottle smacked of the restaurant's surrendering to a mind set that California wines need to offered. There are any number of other restaurants nearby that offer a wide selection of California/American vintages, Café Claude should stand by its heritage as a French restaurant that services great French food and great French wines. Also, my espresso was served luke warm, which was a disappointing end to an otherwise great meal."

  • "Good wine selection with correct pricing. Highlight was the beef tartare, prepared in front of you to your taste. On the minus side one cheese was a bit too age for my expectation (as a French dude, I am picky about cheese). Probably not lucky with that. Other cheeses were good as well as bread. The place has a small size with an elegant decoration. Good atmosphere and good service."

  • "The food was good, and the server was pleasant and tried, however he could stand some training; for example, my cocktail glass was served without a napkin (I had to ask for ) and it needed it because the glass wasn't cleaned/wiped before serving, so as I lifted the glass to drink it was pretty sticky and sloppy. The other problem: due to the extreme cold this week and apparent lack of heating in the restaurant, it was not comfortable. That should have been anticipated and taken care of by the manager. The decor is nice however. Not sure I will be recommending this restaurant."
