The baguette with butter and jam that we ordered for our table of four arrived with no butter or jam and was only enough for one. Other than that, the classic breakfast favorites such as Croque Madame were a hit, and the house-made sausage was outstanding."

  • "I saw Yelp reviews on their poached egg over garlic crouton with foie gras sauce - I had to try it. I wasn't disappointed. The order came with fries (pomme frites), which was served in a wire basket covered with napkin like restaurants would with warm bread, but I thought that created steam and made the fries less crispy. My boyfriend ordered the omelette, which was fluffy and delicious. We debated if we should have ordered the roasted sole, and regretted not ordering it when we saw the table next to us ordered it, and it looked (and they said it was) amazing. Service was prompt and very friendly. We were seated at a table by the entrance; the tables were very close to each other. It felt cozy, but expect no intimate conversations there."

  • "over 10 years later and it's just as good! Their signature dish of poached eggs on garlic toast with a foie gras red wine reduction sauce is last meal request worthy. Just delicious!! Waitress recommended a wonderful rose champagne that complimented the rich meal so well. Kitchen took 30 mins to get food out, which damped an otherwise wonderful experience. Hopefully will return sooner this time."

The service was very slow and the waiter was not very knowledgeable about the food and wine. Cafe Campagne has a good reputation but we were very disappointed. My hangar steak was over cooked as I asked for dare and I got well done. Tough too. It took very long to get our food. And we weren't the only people having a problem. Would not go back."

  • "The only reason we chose this restaurant for brunch was because it was convenient to the ferry terminal. What a great surprise we had! We had made reservations ahead of time so there was no wait for a busy weekend morning. The service was prompt, friendly and courteous. The food was amazing; everything from the latte, to the croissant to the egg dishes we ordered. It was a bit noisey, but not unbearable. We will definitely return."

  • "You'd think that Cafe Campagne's location, sunk slightly below grade, would make it boring for people watching, but with a lot of foot traffic on both the street and the alley, we had a good time. My husband had his classic French restaurant request - roast chicken - and said it was perfect. Crispy skin, moist inside, and flavourful. I had trout amandine that was also delicious. The trout was covered with a light toasting of almonds which in turn had a surprising lemon flavour. My only complaint was that too much olive oil was transferred from the pan to the plate, so both the trout and the accompanying potatoes were covered. Dessert was great, the wine less comprehensive (we splurged on a $60 bottle), and the bill was about $150."

  • "We were a group of seven, we start with a flatbread, beef tartare and cheese plate. The flat bread was ok nothing special, i did't try the cheese plate, but the ribeye was the best part of the meal, well seasoned nice portion, the crostinis were a little too thicker to my taste and super crunchy. My salad was asparragus and grilled bacon, they were blanched but no seassoning the bacon tasted really good and the vinaigrette was ok. My main was the duck confit, again , no seassing, nice and crispy but no flavor. My wife try the hanger steak and it came undercook and the fries were soaked in grease. Service was attentive but slow, we were several minutes w/o drinks. Overall experince i will give another chance but it wont be in my to go list."

  • "The menu here is not at all inventive or innovative and sometimes that can be a good thing. The basics are done well, the steak frites with the meat done perfectly rare(hard to do,) the sole prepared very nicely. The entrees(appetizers in English) marvelous, an salade d'asperge which was spot on and calamari very citrus-y. Also, a "vrai" Tarte Tatin. One concern for me are the wine prices by the glass, which seem to be in the 5 times retail rather than a more friendly 3 times- a glass of a cremant for $10 from a bottle that may have cost the restaurant $10. That being said, the list has wines from less familiar places- Bourgueil, for example, from a well-regarded producer."

  • "We started out with a reservation for 3 people and over the course of two days (including on arrival) it grew to 8. Cafe Campagne was super accommodating and helped us make it work (we had to squeeze, but it was great). All of our food was lovely, and we ordered from all over the brunch menu. Items were French-inspired, with a great Seattle flair. Great coffee - french press, American drip, or espresso, all were impressive. The service was good. My only complaint is the cost of the mimosa caraffes at $50 each. With 8 people, we went through 2, and they were weren't any type of amazing mimosas. "

  • "Seeking steak frites, we followed other reviewers to Cafe Campagne. Ordering snails, we got an inedible salty green sauce - sent it back Why can't restaurants use the traditional snail formula vs experimenting? Now for the steak frites. Asked for pepper sauce on NY steak which was simply a sprinkling of pepper corns with little liquid - added little true "sauce au poivre" taste. Now the piece de resistance - pommels frites. Cut correctly with portion of skin left, they arrived as a soggy mound of cut potatoes - like getting day old Mcdanald's fries but with more grease. 10% were true frites - rest were not even close to French Frites. Disappointing. Have tried Cafe Campahgne in past & keep hoping for success. Think it's time to quit."

  • "A number of years ago I used to go to Cafe Campagne quite often. It had been a long time since I last ate there so I decided to revisit the place and take my family there for brunch the other weekend. I understand that it is a very busy restaurant but it seemed that it was too busy to ensure proper timely service that particular morning. I'll come to the point and say that my main gripe is that it took forty minutes to receive our brunch entrees (mostly omelets) and we had to wait an additional five to ten for the last person in our party to get theirs. The food was fair to good but definitely not great and really not worth the price tag. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon."

I would return, though, if only for the great location just steps from the market - perfect place to start a Sunday morning."
