A word from Café Boulud
CAFÉ BOULUD features a French-American menu inspired by Chef Daniel Boulud's four culinary muses: la tradition, classic French cuisine; la saison, seasonal delicacies; le potager, the vegetable garden; and le voyage, the flavors of world cuisines.

In addition to dinner seven nights, we feature a $37 two-course prix-fixe lunch six days a week, and brunch on Sundays. The restaurant is both a neighborhood gem and a destination for food lovers in search of casually elegant dining. Two private dining rooms seating 18 guest each are available for your private entertaining needs, and may be combined to accommodate 40.

The restaurant's adjacent BAR PLEIADES serves inventive cocktails and a luxurious bar menu from 3 pm onwards.

  • "Short review: great food, great service, great millieu. The menu is incredibly varied offering unlimited choices. The haiibut in banana leaf was wonderful. Save room for dessert."

  • "I came here for dinner, and the service was just so amazing. Friendly. Approachable. Attentive. Polite. Classy Being called "mademoiselle" just makes me extremely happy. I ordered my appetizer and entree from La Salson Maine Peekytoe Crab It. Tasted. Amazing. There was a thin layer of jelly on top Long Island Duck Breast I usually hate beets, but the beets here is amazing. My duck breast is cooked medium, as recommended by the server. It was really good tasting. I like how they put riso venere underneath it to give it a soothing kick. And also yogurt on the side. Pretty amazing. Dessert: Poached Apricot I didn't expect it to be sour? But it was very good. Creamy. Not too sweet. That's it and I strongly recommend this place!"

  • "Used to be you would go here for an elegant lunch or dinner. Now the people that plow through make it look like Grand Central Station. Why no dress code? We saw shorts, flip flops, halter tops, practically beach wear. Deeply disappointing."

  • "An elegant but comfortable brunch location. Food is terrific and creative. Service was in the grand style from a well trained wait staff."

  • "My husband and I are great fans of Daniel Boulud and truly love his flagship restaurant Daniel; as we think nothing compares. That being said, we agreed that the food at Cafe Boulud was amazingly delicious and so artistically presented. We are in the restaurant business ourselves, and notice a lot when we go out. Each and every plate came out of the kitchen looking magnificent! The taste of each dish matched the presentation, simply divine! Our service was very good, too. Over all, an excellent experience. We will definitely dine at Cafe Boulud again and again. FYI. . . Restaurant "Daniel" NYC is still #1 in my heart - a must try for anyone who's looking for a truly amazing dining experience. But. save that for a "special occasion"."

  • "I have been dining here for many years and find the level of sophistication has remained high. It is an elegant room without being formal, Service is excellent. It is a lovely crowd dressed well and attractive. Food is excellent always. The menu changes with the seasons and market so you are never bored. You can go here many times and always find something new delicious and exciting."

  • "The lunch prix fixe is worth every penny. Everything was good overall."

  • "It was our first time there and it was great. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We had a great time. We will surely return."

  • "Food: My duck was delicious and the table's favorite. We had mixed reviews of other appetizers and entrees served within our group. The biggest opportunity for improvement was service: We were seated immediately and then pushed along to make decisions. It was uncomfortable since we were in conversation with our client. When the bill came they took their time to bring signed copy."

  • "Been before; we live in NY part-time. We did expect much better service. The first course was incorrectly ordered; the Hamachi was worth waiting the extra few minutes. W both had the chicken breast, which was light as a feather, and moist, and white and delicious, and we were just in the mood for chicken!! The kitchen is top notch. Outside the kitchen is another story, in my opinion."

  • "great special occassion restaurant. great service, food was delicious and a very good wine list. a special occassion spot as with a few glasses of wine we were easily over $200/each"

  • " Our 2nd time at Cafe Boulud and we returned with friends - once again we had a fantastic meal with exemplary service. Impressive wine list too. Thanks for a memorable evening."

  • "Beautiful restaurant with wonderful food and service. The prix fixe for 3 courses was only $43 and the portions were very generous. Location is in the Surrey Hotel close to the museums. This will be my restaurant of choice in the future for museum days."

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful meal of nouvelle cuisine. To be honest, I am not enough of a fan of French food to go there very often, but it was certainly an excellent time. Also, the Prix Fixe was a good deal. The desserts were tiny but superb!!"

  • "Setting and menu were as lovely as always. But the waitress was pretentious, the rabbit entree was dry and tasteless, the wine list has become gross in its inflated prices. This is in contrast to three previous visits over last three years, something has definitely changed."

  • "An outstanding venue in New York, The food is superb, the service impecable and the ambience civilized. It is my favorite NY restaurant."

  • "I think the name "Boulud" speaks for itself. Treat yourself and have a great meal there."

  • "Food was above average. Service was extremely rushed and impersonal. We were charged $6 for regular water. We asked staff to slow down bringing our food. I was brought a drink I didn't order( I thought it was complimentary, since we were unhappy.) As it turned out, we were charged $15 for that. Won't go back. Had a great experience in Boulud-Palm Beach, FLA."

  • "Generally dining at Cafe Bolud is an excellent experience. Alas, tonite it was jammed, they put the ladies in the corner and we felt rushed. I had the duckling, which is usually divine, came undercooked with various unrecognizable vegetables. My companion's salmon was excellent ."

  • "Daniel hits the mark again with Cafe Boulud--his food and service are unmatched in NYC. My husband and I went to celebrate his birthday, and it was a wonderful experience. We got a tasting menu, and the chef was nice enough to give each of us different dishes within each course, so we could achieve our goal of trying as many menu items as possible! The space is not as expansive and formal as Daniel, but the food and service are of the same caliber. Highly recommended."

  • "Our main waiter was on cue with a birthday dessert for my mom, who we were taking to dinner as I noted in my reservation. The best part was the little *extra* from the waiter when he brought my brother dessert too, even though he didn't order one. Quite intuitively--he brought him the flan which is what he was thinking or ordering in the first place! Wonderful dinner and good service from the head waiter."

  • "Went there after watching Anthony Bourdain's parts unknown. Curious to see if restaurant and food was that good. Service is excellent, food is good I had the sturgeon appetizer and the halibut entree, both very good, however don't go there if on a budget. A great experience but I think a little too expensive, although it is in NYCity....."

  • "Dinner at Café Boulud was the perfect evening; from the pleasant reception, to the table, the ambiance (the low noise level was commented on, and appreciated, for there are so many fine establishments where it's difficult to hold a comfortable conversation...some places seem to think loud is cool...not so at Café Boulud). The wine suggestion was spot on and the exceptionally delicious food, and its presentation, was everything one would expect from a restaurant of Chef Daniel Boulud's...like I said, it was a perfect evening. it was a perfect evening"

  • "My wife and I dined at Cafe Boulud for our 44th wedding anniversary on June 6th. The staff was helpful with the menu and wine. Fresh, artfully presented, and tasty dishes were served in an attentive style. The Seabass and Halibut were soft and flaky with a sauce that complimented the fish. We also had an excellent Cafe Boulud entree in Bar Plaiedes the day before ...with a darker more romantic atmosphere."

  • "other than the bartender with a smug/cocky demeanor, a perfect evening. spectacular food preparation, creative menu, great wine list, attentive service and a nice setting made for one of the best dinners we've had anywhere. a wonderful evening."

  • "I love Cafe Boulud. We have had many, many excellent dinners at the restaurant over the years. Based on these experiences, we thought we would try it for brunch. We did not realize that it serves as a destination breakfast place for the hotel next door. So, the general feel was more like being at a Hilton coffee shop. The food was excellent but the service was not five star."

  • "Highly recommended the food at this modern French restaurant. The pate de fois gras is a superb start to the delights that follow"
    Dined on 6/1/2014
  • "We absolutely loved all the dishes we were served, from the appetizers to the desserts. It was an exquisite cuisine with great attention to details in the presentation. Undoubtedly these dishes were the the best ones we have been served since we arrived in New York 8 months ago. We also liked that the restaurant proposed a selection of wines under $60 in addition to the impressive wine list it features. As a French couple, we however expected a French-style service in this French-owned restaurant, meaning that we did not appreciate it very much being rushed for the drink/food orders. The waiters were extremely attentive, but some privacy in such a restaurant is somehow expected during the course of the meal."

  • "As soon as we came through the door, we were treated as respected guests, and the food, wine and ambiance was wonderful. We went to Cafe Boulud for our anniversary, but we plan on making this a more than once a year experience!"
