A word from Café Boulud
CAFÉ BOULUD features a French-American menu inspired by Chef Daniel Boulud's four culinary muses: la tradition, classic French cuisine; la saison, seasonal delicacies; le potager, the vegetable garden; and le voyage, the flavors of world cuisines.

In addition to dinner seven nights, we feature a $37 two-course prix-fixe lunch six days a week, and brunch on Sundays. The restaurant is both a neighborhood gem and a destination for food lovers in search of casually elegant dining. Two private dining rooms seating 18 guest each are available for your private entertaining needs, and may be combined to accommodate 40.

The restaurant's adjacent BAR PLEIADES serves inventive cocktails and a luxurious bar menu from 3 pm onwards.

This is one of our favorite restaurants for a special occasion. The food is superb, the service is excellent and unobtrusive. We have been here for a 25th birthday (9 people), a romantic anniversary dinner (just the 2 of us), and this time to catch up with friends (6 of us). Special mention this time for the entrees: striped bass and duck breast were outstanding. My only complaint: The restaurant was noisier than I remember it.

Had a terrifically decadent lunch, served with perfect professionalism this past Thursday. Every dish was beautifully presented and a treat to eat. Nice wine list with very good half bottle choices. Atmosphere is pleasant, relaxing and elegant. Wonderful experience overall and all things considered, a relative bargain.

I am currently a students at the Culinary Institute of America and love dining and experiencing new places. Cafe Boulud stands up to it's standards with amazing food that has many different components that pair very well together. They go that extra mile with the server explaining everything to you the second it hits the table so you know exactly what your reading. The service is excellent with bread and water always full and timing is perfect on everything your never waiting too long or too little. IF your in the city and looking for a good dinner definitely go to Cafe Boulud and indulge in an experience.

Had the 3-course prix fixe lunch. Delicious food, and good portions. Came out stuffed. Food was ridiculously good. Lunch is probably one of the best deals in the city. Plus got to see some celebs. Given the changing menu, might come here more frequently.

we had a very nice fixe-pris lunch and the food was nice. however we were extremely annoyed by a 15-20 minute for the dessert service. the manager was very apologetic and he said there would adjust our bill. of course it was the manner in which the waiter and staff handled it that was the problem. we will return if occasion arises. sorry! paul peckham centralcatholic1943@yahoo.com

This is one of our favorite's in the City. It's more Daniel light than anything else. Wonderful ingredients, mostly simply prepared, great, professional service in a warm and nice setting. Without a sport coat, which I hardly ever wear, i feel under dressed. Notable the other night was the roast chicken for two. This is not just any roast chicken as more than hinted to by the price, $52 pp. It raises the obvious question, WTF? So we asked. These chickens are raised by a restaurateur in upstate NY and fed scraps from some of the best restaurants in NYC. You laugh. Right. And $54 per person. Are they kidding us or just sc*^ing us? Suckers we were, we ordered it. Spectacular. Better than the blue footed Bresse chickens in France. The truffles under the skin didn't hurt. They were firm, moist and most importantly, flavorful. As my granddaughter would say, OMG. After your done be sure to wait for the Madelines. I knocked the rating down a bit because it took 15 minutes to get them and the server was less than attentive, and smelled, I thought of cigarettes.

The meal we enjoyed here was the highlight of our week in NYC. Being new to the city, we relied on Zagat to lead us, and we were so pleased with our experience. From the visual delight of the restaurant to the complimentary take-home dessert it was a memorable dining experience. Our waiter Jorge pampered us throughout the meal, as did the other staff. My friend was hoping to find foie de gras, and the guinea hen terrine was a winner, She raved over the Pan Seared Duck, and my Beef Wellington was melt-in-your-mouth tender and tasty. We were very pleased to have found such a wonderful dining experience without being familiar with the city. Would heartily recommend Cafe Boulud to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing, visually and gastronomically spectacular meal.

A welcoming white table cloth lunch spot with personable service. Whether you are there with others or alone, Cafe Boulud makes you feel right at home. With a Prix Fixe menu as well as an a la carte menu, both changing weekly, it is always easy to find several items to order. The difficulty is paring the choices down. On this particular day I had the mushroom barley soup which was all flavor and no dairy, perfectly delightful. The fish was pike and was a delicious preparation over red cabbage. The madeleines, complimentary as always, were hot and fresh with just a hint of lemon.

And over and over again this star in the Boulud group remains terrific...and I think it is the most unusual of all the Daniel Boulud restaurants. Also the staff is particularly nice to residents, and neighbors, right here next to them on 75th street...so it does not feel at all, like a Tourist Event for Out of Towners! And the food is consistently lovely.

We'd eaten in all the Boulud's restaurants in NY. We - me and my wife - travel to the city each 6-8 months, and the label "Boulud"has been part of our food experience in the city. Unfortunately, our comeback to the Café Boulud last week was a really disappointment experience. Service was blasé, paying different levels of attention for each table. Food was terrible. Branzino over pepper, like a bad mexican food, salmon gravlax tastes nothing.

I was extremely impressed by the quality of your food; being Swedish I, of course, ordered your gravlax, which I found to be (almost) as good as Swedish gravlax. The fish I had as my main course was also very nice, to say the least, in fact, it was excellent! Having dined out regularly in the US over the last 10 years (starting in California), yours is, by far, the best restaurant I have visited. Many US restaurants overdo their food, with too much irrelevant stuff around the food, too often spicing away the taste of an otherwise high quality fish. Your fish was also presented in a somewhat overly elaborate manner, but it´s taste was superb. Thanks very much indeed for a very pleasant dining experience.

I was there for breakfast the day of the Marathon (I`m from south America). I really expected a very good breakfast in this Daniel Boulud restaurant. The eggs, the bread, the service was really poor. For example, the scrambled eggs were the same as the ones you found in a very big buffet service and the eggs are overcooked and waiting there for hours. I don’t understand what happened in this famous place.....

I've been here twice in the past three years. The food continues to be exceptional. And I love that though they change the art - it is always beautiful. My only complaint is that some of the wait staff, although quite professional otherwise, have thick (Mexican?) accents. You'd think a restaurant of this caliber and price could give the people with the most exposure to the customer some accent reduction training. New York is filled with people from different cultures - Vive la difference! - but I don't want to struggle to understand my waiter.

The food was a bit disappointing at our latest visit to this legendary David Boulud restaurant. The leek velouté was bland, the prix fixe lemon sole minuscule and accompanied by nothing but a pile of beans, and the petit four dessert was pitiful. The duck breast, however, was tasty. We have not lost faith in one of our favorite restaurants but we are hoping for a better experience next time.
