CAFÉ BOULUD features a French-American menu inspired by Chef Daniel Boulud's four culinary muses: la tradition, classic French cuisine; la saison, seasonal delicacies; le potager, the vegetable garden; and le voyage, the flavors of world cuisines.

In addition to dinner seven nights, we feature a $37 two-course prix-fixe lunch six days a week, and brunch on Sundays. The restaurant is both a neighborhood gem and a destination for food lovers in search of casually elegant dining. Two private dining rooms seating 18 guest each are available for your private entertaining needs, and may be combined to accommodate 40.

The restaurant's adjacent BAR PLEIADES serves inventive cocktails and a luxurious bar menu from 3 pm onwards.

  • "I went there with my mom who has wanted to go there her "whole life" and I was quite disappointed. I got an arugula salad bathed in salt, followed it up with nice steak, and an overly sour passion fruit tart. My sister was unimpressed with her 9 herb ravioli and the strange tasting dessert, which consisted of lemon ice and yogurt tasting flan(?). The best course was when they brought out mini Madeline's at the end. For the hype it wasn't worth it, but the service was excellent ans we walked there from the Met. If you're going there - definitely consider the regular menu instead. I'd go back if someone else was paying."

  • "I've eaten at Café Boulud several times and count it among my favorite restaurants. Thus, my disappointment at Thursday's lunch was more intense. The green salad was tasteless. The steak was tasteless as well and, perhaps worse, rather tough, Dessert was heavenly but not enough to make p for the two courses that preceded it. The room is beautiful, the atmosphere warm and friendly, the service excellent. I expect no less at Café Boulud. I also expect excellent food from them. Thursday's food was poor."

  • "Ceviche tasted almost tough, like the shrimp were sauteed. Gazpacho was very good. Ravioli was a disappointment, but not inedible. Hanger Steak was excellent. Mocha Torte was small and soggy, without character (and the Maitre d' had recommended it); I wouldn't have been excited about having a larger piece. Service of it exemplified the only OK service, not one of the four pieces was served with the point facing the patron (my pet peeve, along with reaching in front of speaking people to pour water and coffee). On the plus side, I didn''t have to ask for my water glass to be refilled. Passion fruit offering was exceptional, and the pan cotta enjoyable. Overall a pleasant foray. The complementary lemon balls and lemony madelienes were great!"

  • "I visited Bar Boulud on the first day of Restaurant Week. I ordered Shrimp Ceviche (appetizer), Skate Wing (Entree), something with Lemon sorbet (dessert). Every bite was amazingly good! In the course menu, the taste of dessert was the least impressive, however, it was still beyond the average. I highly recommend this restaurant. I absolutely want to visit again."

  • "The food here is always very well-prepared but also tends to be boring. My most recent lunch was no exception on either count. The chilled pea soup was good, and the speck and crispy spiced thin piece of lavash were nice additions. Lack of textural interest is an issue with the speck. The lavash was an excellent taste and texture counterpoint. The salade gourmande was a tasteless travesty. The foie gras was grated, a fine idea - Momofuku Ko does that brilliantly - but it had zero taste. Since it departs so far from a genuine salade gourmande, those words should really be put in quotation marks. If I hadn't been with friends I would have said something. It wasn't easy to find enticing dishes on the menu. Improve your game, people."

  • "The noise level is horrible. On a recent Wednesday night my daughter and I dined there at 9pm. The restaurant was at full capacity (40), which is not a lot of people. Even though we were sitting close together, we had to shout to be heard. Of course everyone else had to do the same. The result was that 40 diners sounded like 200. Although the food and service were excellent, they did not compensate for the unpleasantness. In addition, our reservation was for 8:30 but we were not seated until 9:15. No explanation, apology, or complementary glass of wine was given. With all the fine restaurants in NYC, it's not necessary to eat in a restaurant that does not allow for comfortable conversation. I would not recommend this restaurant."

  • "I came here for dinner, and the service was just so amazing. Friendly. Approachable. Attentive. Polite. Classy Being called "mademoiselle" just makes me extremely happy. I ordered my appetizer and entree from La Salson Maine Peekytoe Crab It. Tasted. Amazing. There was a thin layer of jelly on top Long Island Duck Breast I usually hate beets, but the beets here is amazing. My duck breast is cooked medium, as recommended by the server. It was really good tasting. I like how they put riso venere underneath it to give it a soothing kick. And also yogurt on the side. Pretty amazing. Dessert: Poached Apricot I didn't expect it to be sour? But it was very good. Creamy. Not too sweet. That's it and I strongly recommend this place!"

That being said, we agreed that the food at Cafe Boulud was amazingly delicious and so artistically presented. We are in the restaurant business ourselves, and notice a lot when we go out. Each and every plate came out of the kitchen looking magnificent! The taste of each dish matched the presentation, simply divine! Our service was very good, too. Over all, an excellent experience. We will definitely dine at Cafe Boulud again and again. FYI. . . Restaurant "Daniel" NYC is still #1 in my heart - a must try for anyone who's looking for a truly amazing dining experience. But. save that for a "special occasion"."

The biggest opportunity for improvement was service: We were seated immediately and then pushed along to make decisions. It was uncomfortable since we were in conversation with our client.   • "Been before; we live in NY part-time. We did expect much better service. The first course was incorrectly ordered; the Hamachi was worth waiting the extra few minutes. W both had the chicken breast, which was light as a feather, and moist, and white and delicious, and we were just in the mood for chicken!! The kitchen is top notch. Outside the kitchen is another story, in my opinion."
