Cafe Bleu Bistro & Wine BarSo close to being so very goodThe server was outstanding - being approachable, helpful and attentive to our needs. The restaurant's got the same vibe as their last location (cozy, quaint, a tad upscale) while the prices are down to earth reasonable. They bring out complimentary tapas-type bites for customers and their bread is fresh and so darn good you could eat a plate and walk out gleeful. But the main courses have so far been a bit flat. The presentation's always breathtaking but it seems at some point in the search for a harmonious dish, the chef's missing that key moment of mouth-watering-pleasure. It's like everything to that point is near eye-rollingly good and then the food goes a bit safe.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMImpressive menu and service.Made reservations on OpenTable and took a shot at requesting the table for two by the window. To my delight, it was one of the few tables available upon arrival. Glad I put in the request. Our waiter, Sylvester, was more than attentive to our needs and was more than happy to offer his recommendations after we had asked. The appetizer and wine we ordered were both excellent. I highly recommend Cafe Bleu for a date night or for an evening out with friends. I look forward to going back and trying their brunch menu.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday DinnerThe 3-course Sunday evening prix-fixe dinner is a great food buy at $17.95! The soup of the day last Sunday, leek/tomato with an infusion of spicy oil and parmesan cheese, was outstanding. The bread pudding was not the usual preparation of torn bread but was also delicious with the vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. The steak frites entree was tasty but the steak was a bit chewy. The frites were good as was the asparagus that accompanied it. I will go back again to try another entree. I had previously lived in Mission Hills and heard there were some new dining spots. I picked the best. The appetizers were amazing, the wait staff superb. The wait staff was very attentive and I was surprised to have them change the silverware after every course, and clean the table in between. The scallops were succulent, the steak frites excellent, the pork to die for it could not have been better. Then to top it all off the chocolate cake wa amazing and the creme brulee almost as good as my own.

A lot of restaurants struggle with consistency but Cafe Bleu hits the mark every time. We enjoyed items from the happy hour menu (a true bargain) including the cheese board and the mussels as well as a nightly lamb shank special which was tender and lovely. This is a cozy intimate place, and the chef here raises the bar on French cuisine. It has a warm neighborhood feel as well as welcoming those of us from other "hoods"!! The service is comfortable, friendly and well paced, at the diner's request. I love the food and the changing menu makes dining an adventure each time.
I hope Cafe Bleu continues this warm ambiance, good food and friendly service.

Service was outstanding. Food was terrific. Onion soup was thick and hearty and just the right taste. We split the pork dish with cranberries and loved every bite. The chocolate dessert was to die for. We savor end every bite. Overall a fantastic fing. It was our first time there. We had a great time. The resto accommodated us in every way from good service, to bottomless mimosas, checking in at appropriate times. The food was very good, lots of clean plates around the table.
The decor is very comfortable and slightly hip, smallish resto with a small bar area. It is probably wonderful at night, because it is charming and intimate in the day!
I can recommend this resto to all. They have a pretty good vegetarian selection as well and are more than willing to accommodate on every level. They want their customers to enjoy their experience. We certainly did!12/29/2012 12:00:00 AM
