  • "Love this place-have been several times-food is always great, they have a wonderful cheese selection, staff friendly and efficient"

  • "This is my new favorite restaurant...I could just live on the french onion soup. But the entire menu is delicious and the chef often includes an "amuse bouche" as a taste tester. Try it before it becomes "too popular" and difficult to get in."

  • "We took my daughter here while visiting during her spring break. I was pleasantly surprised how low key this place is. It's small and intimate. The service is outstanding, the food was delicious, and the prices were not too expensive. It's a great value for dinner. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu if you like French food."

  • "Had seafood bouillabaisse, fish overlooked. A pescaterian, I didn't find many other edible options. Decor nice enough, though no sound-absorbing surfaces so very loud when full. Service was fair, not great. Overall, okay option, nothing special."

  • "I often dine at Cafe Bleu and tonight was no exception. After a long day of air travel, sitting at Cafe Bleu with a glass of wine and relaxing was just the ticket. We ordered off the Happy Hour menu and all of our small plates were delivered in a timely manner, but more importantly, were delicious! The servers are very friendly and we did not feel hurried or rushed even though the place was quite busy. I recommend Cafe Bleu for lunch, dinner or Happy Hour and often take my friends there."

  • "I highly recommend Cafe Bleu. The atmosphere is so lovely and intimate and the food is absolutely delicious. Great place for Brunch with bottomless mimosas, let's just say your glass is never empty. And dinner is a savory treat. The service is friendly and accommodating to all of your needs. Since the restaurant is intimate it's always packed so I suggest you make a reservation beforehand."

  • "The food is really delicious and the presentation is beautiful . And the service was great! I got there a little before the rest of my party and they made sure to take care of me while I waited."

  • "Easy to park, friendly staff, not crowded, excellent French onion soup - as good as the soup I've had in France."

  • "A quaint and quiet bistro in Mission Hills with an excellent chef. I have already been there 4 or 5 times and have recommended to my friends. Each occasion has been a delicious and relaxing experience. The french menu and daily cheese board are outstanding with a special 5 star rating for the french onion soup! The restaurant even has free parking in the back lot....a real plus in the busy streets."

  • "Consistently excellent food and always accommodating, friendly service make Cafe Bleu our favorite restaurant. Javier and his staff know how to run a restaurant right."

  • "My wife and I found this restaurant on Yelp before flying into SD from Chicago. We arrived on Sunday night for dinner. Not advertised on Yelp, this restaurant runs special Sunday pre-fixe 3-course dinner. Restaurant did not cut corner, and provided good portion of quality meal. We were totally satisfied. We were greeted and serviced by co-owner, who's friendly and accommodating special dietary requests. Good wine list as well. We highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Cafe Bleu is a decent restaurant but not up to high reviews it gets. Dinner started with a terrific puff pastry amuse bouche. Best dish of the night. .Steak tartare appetizer was bland and and needed capers their unique taste. Not good.. Onion soup was delicious and cheesy. My big disappointment though was the coq au vin, a fave personal dish. Since it was the signature dish of the restaurant I was expecting a great version, but I really did not care for it at all. The sauce was very watery and basically like a jus, and the chicken while reasonably juicy lacked the complexity of flavor one expects from the way the dish is traditionally prepared. In fact in tasted just like grilled chicken in au jus. Bland and unispired,"

  • "Took my wife to dinner at Cafe Bleu this past Saturday. The food was fantastic, the service was done well (excellent teamwork), and we liked the fact that the prices for food and wine were reasonable, making for an exceptional value meal. I want to keep this place secret because it has all the right components for a great place to wine and dine....I don't want too many finding out and over-running this place. Kudos to the chef and the kitchen staff for great tasting food that was well presented. Compliments to Carina, our waitress, for the excellent service; and for the support of Javier, who stepped up often to refill glasses, clear plates, and to chat. We look forward to returning soon -- just don't tell too many others about it."

  • "This place never fails to deliver. My wife and I went the day after Valentine's day and wow. We ordered the filet and lobster and it was downright delicious. Mussels for appetizer did not dissappoint. We were extremely well taken care of by Javier and the rest of the crew. When great service accompanies great food, you just cant go wrong. Go see for yourself San Diego. Bon apetit."

  • "This place is small, cozy, dimly lit and romantic...perfect for a date. We started out with a complimentary chef's bite...and can I just say that I LOVE when restaurants do that. We had crab dip for an app...cheesy, creamy, crabby and delicious! My food recommendation is for the filet. Compared to notable steak houses, the price here at Bleu is a steal. The cut, quality and cook of the meat was fantastic. Small but carefully selected wine menu has no bottles over $50, so no pressure to break the bank with a ridiculous bottle of wine. Service was fantastic and I would highly recommend this place. I will definitely be back :)"

  • "Our dinner was good, the service was good - but the entire experience lacked anything to make it truly memorable. No complaints - but no kudos either."

  • "Close quarters inside but the menu selection is diverse and the food was prepared very well. Very reasonably priced for Southern California."

  • "The menu was unique and inventive. Unfortunately almost everything sounded better than it was. The flavor profile was lacking. Tables were oddly laid out and we sat very close to the next table. We were able to hear their entire conversation (and they weren't talking loudly). Service was attentive."

  • "We have been going to Cafe Bleu for over a year now, and it never disappoints. The food is always excellent - the price is great and we love it! This is one of the most underrated restaurants in San Diego."

  • "Cafe Bleu has great food and is a cute place, with armchairs and pillows on couches. However it is very noisy. Also, service started out being excellent then downgraded as the restaurant got busy. The restaurant did offer its regrets over some problems and comped our wine. Overall grade about a B."

  • "This bistro is a real find. It is small, cozy and fun. The staff is friendly and efficient and the service is superb. The menu is varied and balanced. We enjoyed the nightly special when we visited - it was lamb osso bucco. In addition, the wine list is outstanding. We will go back again and again."

  • "Small, quaint, & cozy restaurant. Had an incredible time; one of the owners was also our waiter and Javier was awesome. The food was very good and it all started with an tasty appetizer courtesy of the chef! This will definately be a required visit every time I visit San Diego now."

  • "Always nice to have a reasonably priced neighborhood cafe to enjoy. As might be expected the venue is very small. I had dinner with a friend who remarked that the same white wine he requested on several occasions was once again not available. They really should take it off the menu. Food was good. Friendly atmosphere"

  • "I imagined a quaint and elegant French restaurant with fabulous food and reasonable prices for my birthday dinner. Searching on Open Table only one appeared. It is one of a kind and exactly what I imagined. To top off a perfect birthday dinner, they served me the most lucious chocolate cake with a candle. My wish is for others to discover and enjoy this restaurant--the best of France in Mission Hills. I'll be going back for brunch soon!"

  • "This restaurant is doing things right. Thoughtfully prepared food, presented well, excellent service, and fair pricing. They stay busy so make a reservation because you need to try these guys. I rarely give top marks, but they deserve it!"

  • "Cafe Bleu is an excellent value. It's pretty small, with a relatively small menu and wine list. But everything is very good in my experience. It's a favorite of my 11 year old daughter, who likes the steak frites and the blue lights."

  • "In spite of the hundreds of great restaurants in San Diego, we keep coming back to Cafe Bleu, for its excellent food, good service, lovely ambience, and reasonable prices. Everyone that we have introduced to Cafe Bleu has love it!"

  • "great evening out with friends in a very casual energetic restaurant. The staff is attentive and has a great sense of humor. The menu is what you might expect for a bistro, but everything was prepared exceptionally well, definitely more like a higher end restaurant. I would definitely recommend starting with there cheese platter and some wine, or there appetizer sampler. Great place to go for a nice casual night out."

  • "For 2014 we decided we'd go out to a couple of restaurants each month in San Diego we've never been to. Our first outing was to Cafe Bleu and were we ever impressed! Our waiter was Sylvester - did an amazing job taking care of us. The chef started us off with a complimentary canape specialty, very tasty. Next a cheese platter paired with wine that was exceptional. Our main courses were a maine lobster and perfectly cooked veggies and macadamia nut crusted scallops. All perfect. We'll definitely find our way back to this neighborhood gem!"

  • "Fantastic dining experience. The food was outstanding, i found it hard to decide as so many items grabbed my attention. The almond crusted scallops i had were full of flavor with the corn cranberry bacon reduction. The Filet and Lobster were a perfect fit for my fiance for NYE. The wine list is quite an array as were the local beer selections. The ambiance was abuzz and for a smaller dining setting the noise was not overly loud. The service we received was over the top. Attention to detail impressed me throughout our dining experience here. Can't wait to return for another great meal!"

  • "Cafe Bleu shines yet again with a flavorful bouilliabaisse, shrimp and gnochhi in a pesto cream sauce and the small canape platter, which this time included fried eggplant with horseradish creme fraiche and super tender skewers of beef. Service was incredibly friendly, and you can't miss with half price bottles of wine on Monday nights!"

  • "First time at restaurant and plan on making this a favorite on our list, ended up here because had few choices for Christmas Eve Dinner. Our party was pleasently surprised at the great menu selections, not a huge menu but very nice choice of selections. The resaurant was featuring a Fix Price selection with a wine pairing option or you could order from the regular menu. All the selections were very reasonably priced and was great value. We found the qualify of the food, selections, and price was superior to most restaurants that we normally visit."
