Diner Reviews
  • "We wanted to take advantage of the Dine LA dinner special & are so glad we did! The restaurant offered a 3-course dinner for $25 & it was a great deal! You had a choice of soup or salad, 1 of 4 or 5 entrees (I had the filet burger & my wife had the seafood pasta) & we both took home flourless chocolate cake for dessert because we were too full to eat it at the restaurant."

  • "My wife and I lived in Sherman Oaks from 1992 to 2000 and spent many romantic nights having dinner at Cafe Bizou. The food was always great and the atmosphere is charming and unique. We moved 40 minutes away in 2000 and went back for an anniversary dinner last year after a 12 year hiatus. Were kicking ourselves for waiting so long to make the drive it is still worth it. The tartar is still amazing, carrot soup and lobster bisque are perfectly seasoned and delicious as always. The monk fish never disappoints and the short ribs fall apart perfectly on your fork. We took a group of 8 from Westlake Village last week and they loved it too. So much food and drink and $80 a couple, that's impossible but hasn't changed in 20 years."

  • "Love the food, and the attentiveness of the wait staff. The host seemed a bit of a snob to those patrons (my husband and I included) he did not know or recognize."

  • "For an inexpensive meal, food is pretty good although it's somewhat on the noisy side."

  • "Came here to treat my friend to a 3-course lunch on her birthday, and it was a nice experience overall. Started off with a glass of merlot for the bday girl, 2 French onion soups & my lobster bisque. I really enjoyed the bisque, though my friends said their soups were not hot enough. The bday girl and I ordered the Lobster, Sea Scallops & Shrimp Pasta--DELICIOUS! Our friends got the Filet Mignon Burger and Berry & Fig Salad: positive reactions! The desserts were decent. My friend really enjoyed her Duo of Sorbet! The Flourless Chocolate Cake was tasty (and had a candle in it when I reminded the server it was for a bday!), but more like a sturdy, structured mousse than flourless cake. And the Tiramisu was pretty standard; good but standard."

  • "Have not been here for years bc we live a ways from here. Happy to say food and price still excellent as ever. Pasta is not tops on my list but their shrimp and scallops w black tagallini was best I've had. Pasta was perfect, not over cooked, not starchy. Place is always packed, make reservations weeks in advance."

  • "The oldest clientele I've ever seen at any restaurant, save maybe Nate & Al's, but it's close. If you're into that, then this is the hippest place in town. That said, I love this place. It's super cute, the food is good, and the people who work there are fantastic."

  • "I enjoyed my dinning experience, the food was great and the service was excellent. There is no WOW factor but overall it was a lovely dinner."

  • "I went here for lunch during restaurant week and had a nice, big meal with my sister. It was pretty busy but not too noisy and had great lobster bisque and a delicious filet mignon burger. Would definitely recommend and return."

  • "The restaurant should be completely cleaned and renovated. The women's bathroom is so tiny a large person wouldn't even fit in the stall. All seemed dirty. May have been ancient paint and shabby carpet but I'll take my business elsewhere."

  • "Great place, good date night place! Can't beat the corkage fee"

  • "Good service and excellent food. Nice variety of choices. The San Fernando Valley could certainly use more restaurants of this type."

  • "I really do love this place. Can't beat the low corkage fee and the food is pretty delicious. I was bummed the special sold out really early as I wanted to try the lamb shank, so I went with my old standby, the monkfish but this time it was really dry which was disappointing. The mushroom appetizer and tuna tartar app was as always, extremely flavorful. Will be going back to try the specials!"

  • "Consistently is great. Nice variety of specials every day.Large food portions. The waiters are very attentive. Parking at night is limited but they do have valet car service. If you go on the week end it may a bit noisy as the place is always full. I would recommend Cafe Bizou to all."

  • "Monday night special $19.99 Lobster special with angel hair -- delicious -- little lite on the lobster. Get a salad also. Filling; no room left."

  • "We had the fixed price menu. The first course salad was the smallest salad I have every been served. The Lobster/Seafood pasta entre was also very small. The pasta needed seasoning, salt and pepper helped, and the salad had no discernible dressing on it. They let us substitute desert with a glass of house wine. That was nice. The service was very good. We sat on the covered sidewalk patio. The bench seating was uncomfortably hard."

  • "We went for restaurant week and had a fantastic experience at peak lunch time on one of the busiest days of the year. I had the French onion soup which was gooey with cheese, a fantastic planked salmon and a rich fluffy tiramisu. My entire group was happy as well and would go again."

  • "My family and I had a wonder lunch at Cafe Bizou. Everything was great! I'm so glad that I was able to try this restaurant thanks to Dine LA Restaurant week. We will definitely be back. This just may become our go to place in the Sherman Oaks."

  • "Wonderful place. Everything good! However, IF the waiter makes a mistake, don't expect an apology or a nice gesture. I ordered the steak, and my husband fish. Fish came and the wrong meal came to me. I waited 5 minutes to tell my waiter. I told the guy who brought it but he said he only brings food and to inform my waiter. Waiter took the meal and 15 minutes later my meal arrived. My husbands meal was now cold- he waited till my meal arrived to start eating. And my steak while perfect in the inside was charred on the outside- probably because of the rush. So all I tasted was the bbq burnt taste. :/ And free coffee, no desert on the house and no apologies :(((((("

  • "They overbooked their reservations for the evening. We had a 9pm reservation and were told that we may not get seated until closer to 10pm. They attempted to squeeze too many tables into one area and the waiting area by the hostess desk was so crowded someone should have called the fire department for fire safety violations. It also appeared that those people who knew the owner/manager on a personal basis were seated regardless of reservation status. Very frustrating evening! We ended up dining next door at Bamboo, a very good Chinese restaurant!"

  • "We arrived at the retaurant 3 minutes prior to our 8:30pm reservation. The hostess told me she wasn't ready to seat us and to give her a couple of minutes. 15 minutes later, I went to inquire, and said she wasnt in charge of seating and I needed to wait. I asked her to advise where I can find the manager. Instead of responding to me, she literarly smiled, looked away in the opposite direction like I didn exist. I then said "that was a question." She continued to smile and said she could not leave her post (there was a second hostess with her) and turned away smiling like she was done with me. We were seated 42 minutes after my reservation. My date was a vegetarian and ordered her pasta as such. They brough her food with chicken in it."

  • "The food was delicious! An older crowd and families dine here which gives it a nice family vibe. Only downside is the restaurant is old and needs updating but the food was great which is all that matters!"

  • "I've eaten at Cafe Bizou on two previous occassions, and had good experiences both times, so it was an easy choice when looking for a spot to meet an old friend for lunch. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the salad with berries, fig, and goat cheese, which I enjoyed on the 3-course lunch special. Our waiter was attentive, but not intrusive, which was great since my friend and I had lots of catching up to do. Although I don't live in the area, I will be back again in the future for what I'm sure will be another terrific meal."

  • "Wrong orders brought to our table twice. Dine LA prix fee was a rip off. Escargot was bland and the miniscule piece of salmon was barely edible. Never. Again!!"

  • "Restaurant week is a time to try new places, but we usually come to Cafe Bizou, which is familiar and comfortable. So is their Restaurant Week menu, which is a slight variation on their usual fixed price menu, served most nights. For $25 you get a very respectable 3-course dinner, while other restaurants are at the $35 and $45 price point. Our only negative comment on a nicely served dinner was that the waiter did not offer to decant the 10-year-old bottle we brought to help it breathe a bit. We all ordered the seafood pasta which was fine, if not remarkable. My husband loves the lobster bisque and the mushroom starter is consistently good. The flourless chocolate cake got raves from our friends."

  • "Took three friends out to lunch for their birthdays and was very pleasantly surprised on how wonderful this restaurant is. I saw the 4.5 rating reviews from others who have gone to Cafe Bizou and they were right. Great food (loved the lobster and shrimp pasta!), service was outstanding considering how packed it was, and it was very quiet too. If someone did not like it before I cannot understand why. I hope anyone who tries Cafe Bizou has the same great experience as I did. I will definitely be back."

  • "The food was great and ambiance, but restaurant needs updating from floor, ceiling, and painting. The service was not that great, we asked for balsamic, olive oil, tabasco, and box to go but had to ask multiple times. Also some servers are not attentive, some waiters are ignoring our call pretending they didn't see anything. Overall ok for the decent food."

  • "Made the reservation for 2@ 8:30pm. Checked in at 8:00pm. When 8:30 came and passed without hearing anything I went to see how much longer. She said a few more minutes... Went back at 8:50, said a few more minutes. Meanwhile a bunch of couples show up at 9pm. They were seated by 9:10pm... Maybe I should be paying the hostess to get a seat because the reservations sure don't work. I went back up demanding a table and finally got a table at 9:20pm, 50 minutes later. By then we were tired and so hungry that whole experience was ruined. To top it off the meal wasn't even that good and the side salad had no dressing on it. We were offered nothing to compensate for the poor experience. Needless to say we won't be going back."

  • "Very good food in beautiful surroundings. Upscale bistro atmosphere with white table cloths, burnished wood paneled walls adorned with brass light fixtures and mirrors. The steak frites was excellent - the beef was of 'melt in your mouth' quality and a shrimp dish with couscous got raves from my spouse. Service was attentive and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. We'll be back."
