  • "The whole experience was ok. The appetizers were disappointing - 2 stuffed mushrooms about one inch across is not an appetizer, but the entrees were really good. Wait staff also not great - didn't seem to have one person dedicated to table, so had to ask random staff as they went by ....."

  • "Went there for Dine-LA dinner menu, had the steak and lobster and everything was great, except for the steak and flourless chocolate cake (yuck). The steak was okay, didn't have any taste to it (need more seasoning) and served almost cold. That flourless chocolate cake dessert was horrible, how could anyone eat that, it's mushy and tasteless - not worth the calories!"

  • "I treated a friend to a birthday lunch during DineLA Week When we entered the restaurant, I knew that I'd been there before. But, that when it was Café Jacoulet, a wildly-popular place that closed a few years earlier. Café Bizou is large, but also cozy, and very charming. The DineLA menu was not only VERY affordable, but full of wonderful choices. Besides that, for $15, it offered a three-course lunch, which compares very favorably with the more pricey establishments that offer only two courses for $25 or $35. I loved my sauteed mushrooms, grilled salmon with a rainbow of fresh vegetables, and tiramisu. My friend was equally happy with her Caesar salad, seafood pasta (lobster, shrimp, and more) and mango+raspberry sorbet. I will be back!"

  • "To celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary we decided to try the Pasadena location. We ordered from the special menu $25 for 3 courses. First, I let the hostess know that it was our 25th wedding anniversary. There was no special treatment, or even an attempt to get us a special table. We ordered the Lobster bisque and the cups were so small, it was perceived as being very "cheap". The main dishes were very small portions. The tira misu portion was extremely small. We ate bread just because we were still hungry. Not enjoyable at all. My spinach was non-edible. There's a hold in the carpet, and the bathroom is old and dirty."

  • "Had dinner here for the Dine LA week and the reviews were pretty good. Unfotunately the Black Tagallini pasta I ordered was bland and had only 2 pieces of shrimp, a few chunks of lobster and scallops. The flourless chocolate cake though more than made up for the pasta. The cake was light and airy. The service was a bit slow for an early Sun. dinner."

  • "We stopped in for the Dine LA menu and were mostly impressed with their offerings. My boyfriend ordered the escargot, which we both ended up enjoying, especially dipping bread into the remaining butter, garlic, parsley. I did NOT care for my Asian pear salad.. It felt like Trader Joes bagged mixed greens with a generic slightly sweet vinaigrette, hard pears, and a teaspoon of gorgonzola cheese. I was not a fan. The boyfriend loved his seafood pasta, and I enjoyed my filet and lobster (a reasonable $10 upcharge), but didn't like the side of veggies that came with. Just steamed with not even salt to season them. Quite boring, albeit well-cooked. The service was great until it came time to pay.. We waited about 20-25 minutes for the check."

  • "I came here twice for DineLA week and both times (different years) it was pretty bad. I thought $15 was a good deal for three courses for lunch but the food wasn't very good- the quality and presentation of the entrees were poor and the service was equally as bad. It was slow and our waiter was missing the entire time - only showed up to give the starter, entrees, dessert and bill but other times he was just no where to be found. On top of that they seated people who didn't have a reservation before us ... what's the point of making a reservation if you aren't going to be seated first. Overall I would not come to this place again."

  • "Came here for dine la special. Overall, meh.. Like a meal from Denny's. The gal at checking in, was bragging on how there were 300 tables for lunch and about the same for dinner, and how she was so exhausted. This can explain why the food was cold and mediocre at best. The desert was a small square of tiramisu. Even though the cost was affordable, the value was poor."

  • " - Rushed service - Deceptive menu items (baked mushrooms were stuffed with chicken and spinach) - Bland food (seafood pasta had no sauce and needed, at the very least, salt - Deserts are pre-made and sit in a fridge all night - Rather than trying to convert Dine LA customers to future customers, they chose to turn-and-burn in order to get a quick buck - Only one men's toilet for a large restaurant, so you might wind up waiting around while the rest of your table finishes dinner - Once of the worst meals I've ever had. How can a French restaurant be this bad? - And for the Dine LA price + a bottle of wine ($100), I would have been happier at In-n-Out... - There is no reach anyone should ever go here, it's a complete waste of real estate."

Everything from our cocktails to desert was excellent. It was so good that my husband was still talking about it the following day."

  • " I have eaten here many times but was disappointed. The service was spotty - OK jammed Saturday night. The dollar salads were just that. A little lettuce - about 1/2 the size they used to be and very watery dressing. My halibut was delicious. The pork tenderloin and the ribs were OK. I'd think twice before I took someone, but would probably try it again on our own because of past good experience."

  • "Escargot drenched in garlic butter, black pasta with seafood in a bolognaise sauce, wine and all finished with flourless chocolate cake and coffee. So good all around, delicious. Excellent little place service & food, and overall vibe. I was originally seated in the mid section which was a bit too romantic in that it was away from the windows and darker so I asked to move. (I dined with my friend so no need or desire for an intimate setting, but now I know its there if I want it..sigh, someday). And they accommodated every request so politely, even when I asked for more French banquette pieces to soak up all that garlic butter from the escargot..MMMMMM!! Loved it. 5 stars all around; food, service, ambiance, cost. Tres good."

  • "Had a great experience. Food was good, service good. We got sat in the middle in a 2 seat booth. Comfortable but the table next to us was only separated by a half wall. It felt like we were in a double date with people we didn't know. Wasn't a fan of that. They could at least put up a window or curtains to separate us."

  • "We had to wait for about 20 minutes before getting our table after our reservation. However, they do have a bar where you can sit and wait. The bartender was a little rude, never once greeted us, but only to ask what we wanted to drink. The drinks were good, nothing too memorable except that it was stronger than most other places. Dinner was great, but we had to wait a good 30-40 minutes for each of our dishes. The service was excellent, which was a plus!"

  • "Had a round table so easy to converse. There were 6 of us. The salmon blackened was great. My husband ordered that and I ordered the shrimp and scallops with risotto. Everyone said they really enjoyed their food. We brought wine so corkage was only $2. But the valet parking was $8 even with validation plus a $2 tip. So what we saved in bringing our own wine, we spent on the valet. One member of our party was unable to walk to the city parking structure."

  • "My friends and I had lunch here, ordering off the dineLA prix fixe menu. Two of us had the lobster panini. There were only a few very small bits of lobster in the sandwich. I was disappointed because I love this restaurant and have always had good experiences here. But the rest of the meal was very good, the service is always excellent, and we love the ambience."

  • "I have eaten here many times and always really, really liked it. This time, very disappointed. The chef's idea of Cajun fries is certainly different from New Orleans. The sirloin burger was put on such HUGE pieces of bun that you nearly had lockjaw to get it into your mouth, and it was not that tasty. I left all the French fries, scraped the food off the buns and ate it that way. Desert was very good and did not disappoint."

Took two friends for dinner &!will never go back...the planked salmon was dry ,,,my other friend had lamb chops. & they were so thin and overlooked even though she ordered them medium rare..mine were just as bad...the vegetables tasted like they were left over from the night before!   • "Cafe Bizou is still lovely but starting to get a little dated in areas. The main dining room is much better than the bar area - even more updated. We know because we were seated at the bar area initially, got slow service and the decor simply looked more dated. We asked to move to the main dining room where there was another window table available and from there everything was lovely. Service was prompt and pleasant and the waiter was authentically French, the linens and decor was much more up-to-date, and the view over the patio which much better. The lobster soup and French onion soup were delicious, the seafood black tagallini pasta just OK. A refresh would do this place wonders although now it still draws a crowd and has charm."

  • "Celebrated a friend's birthday with dinner there over the 4th of July weekend. The restaurant had a nice table set aside next to the corner of Raymond & Holly with big window and a view of the Old Town promenade on Raymond. We brought a couple of bottles of wine for only $1 corkage fee! Also, an additional salad or soup is between $1 - $2. Good, competent country/bistro French cooking. Good service without being hovering. Each of us enjoyed our dinners, of whitefish, steak, chicken and vegetarian. A surprisingly large selection of fish entrees. (The only disappointment was the escargot: tiny portions and flavorless)."

Mushroom appetizer was ridiculous - only two mushrooms and very poor imagination. The steaks were very good, but portions (especially sides) were very small for price. We've enjoyed very good dinners at Bizou in Sherman Oaks, but this was quite a disappointment."

  • "While some parts of our meal were very good, most were simply average. Bread could have been bought at the grocery, and the Asian pear salad was nothing special. On the other hand, the salmon with citrus salsa was very good. On the prix fixe menu, the filet with lobster tail was at best average. Wine list is nothing special at all. Prices seem to be the appeal of the place. Overall, one gets what one pays for."

  • "We drove after church for lunch and found it very quiet...different from an earlier Sunday lunch. We miss not being able to order sweetbreads which is only available on the dinner menu. The $2.00 corkage is frosting on the cake. I reviewed the wine list for the first time and was surprised at how excellent was the pricing. Excellent escargot as usual."
