"Distracted service, tasteless bread, warned to order salads or sandwiches because the kitchen was so slow. This site had been fine for lunch, but I would not try it in the evening again, especially if under a deadline."

"Very attentive wait staff, great view over looking the city and the food was very good. Husband had the Dungeness crab & shrimp sandwich and I had the blue cheese and pear salad. Perfect dishes to mix and match. I would go back for lunch or a light dinner."

"If you think of a store dining option, it usually isn't that memorable. Cafe Bistro delivers on many levels. They have very good food served in a nice setting with a very attentive wait staff. This is a very convenient location that serves food that you would expect in a stand alone restaurant."

"This is a great place for lunch if you are around the fifth and market area. The staff is unbelievably friendly. They did not have the French onion soup that was advertised, so they gave us a complementary bowl of another soup, which was very good. They let us linger and talk without showing any signs of annoyance. This is my go to place for lunch whenever I am shopping or in this area for the day."

"Dine above the crowds overlooking bustling Market Street, while you sip a surprisingly well crafted cocktail right inside this department store. Terrific tomato basil soup, tasty variety of salads, sandwiches, and heavier fare to suit any hungry shopper. Good place before a show--walk to the theaters after an affordable repast, and keep the rest of your matinee budget for your ticket. Gluten free knowledge/options a plus."

"Good menu selections, good location and good service. Located inside Nordstrom's, the Bistro is a good find. There are many restaurants located in the food court, but when looking for a place that offers a variety, such as crab bisque soup, brushetta, shirmp and risotto or pizza at a reasonable price and with good service, then this is the place to go."

"Our experience was not so great, it took forever to get our cocktails even having to ask our server and she said she was still waiting for them even though the place was no longer busy. Had to ask for plates after the bread was brought to our table since there was no place settings when we sat down and one guest entree arrived wrong after requesting no butter on the dish, and now having to ask the bus boy to find our server. My mother loves having lunch here where I usually take her to the Rotunda @Neiman Marcus where I usually lunch but wanted to try the Bistro and have a nice view of th city/downtown for our friend from NYC (whose dish arrived wrong). I don't think I'll be coming back."

"We were seated overlooking the city and the menu is pretty much the same as always. Unfortunately, our waiter was bar tending as well as being a wait person. the manager tried to take up the slack but we were neglected for long period of time. When we did see the waiter, he just dashed by saying "How are you doing?' Never heard a more insincere solicitation if I ever heard on. The food itself was wonderful and very reasonably priced. We may look for another location to have our lunch in the city."

"We were heading to see a show at the ACT with the kids days before Christmas - Cafe Bistro fit the bill for lunch. The kids loved the food and we parents weren't disappointed. Great, reasonably-priced spot with a little shopping, too. Glad we had a reservation - there was a line out the door by noon."

"I love this place and highly recommend it. Prices are very reasonable, the food is of high quality and the service staff are really nice. Make reservations or try to come early on a weeknight, like around 5:30. I like sitting by a window with a view. Favorite things to order are the lobster bisque, pomme frittes and the french onion soup."

"Every year my husband and I go here. We have been coming here for about 8 years And every time we go it is a great experience the only thing I have to say that was not Right is that we had to ask for silverware when food came out every time. Like for our appetizers No extra plates had to ask, we wanted a spoon for my husbands coffee had to ask. For the desert had to Ask for forks, this is not the fault of the waitress it was the runners you need a system in place so they know To have for the guest. So your waitress doesn't feel embarrassed because she was great."

"I always love dining here. This time, although our waiter was great, there was a problem somewhere??? The desk person kept telling us that they were bussing our table so we could be seated, but we didn't get seated until 1/2 hour after our reservation. Then we waited a long time before our food came. We ended up getting a cup of soup on the house, but not until our ordered entrees arrived. I don't know what the issue(s) was, but we were fortunate not to be in a rush. It would have been a disaster if we had event tickets for a timed performance. Hope this doesn't happen again, as this is one of my go-to places to eat in SF."

"Had lunch her for first time. The artichoke soup was very good. The ahi poke was fresh and enjoyable. View of the bustle of market st below. We were not rushed at all by staff. I would definitely come here again if shopping in the area. Excellent service."

"Great for lunch on the way to the theater (especially Golden Gate/Orpheum) Loved the view shooting straight up Powell to the top of a steep. steep hill. All approved of their particular dish. Loved the cilantro lime salad which was mentioned by several on Trip Advisor. Fun to sit among the buildings lining Market St. Will return soon. (Lemonades are quite refreshing!!)"

"We have been having lunch here before Best of Broadway shows for many years and have been very pleased with our experience, BUT this time the service was very poor. The restaurant was packed, which is usually not the case. It took quite a while for the waitress to take our order and we did not get our food for a half hour! The server said they were short handed in the kitchen. Would love to come back here, but would hope the situation is more pleasant."

"We usually eat here before going to a show at the Golden Gate Theater. You tell them this and they make every effort to get you out in time even if you are late... Usually I get the Cilantro Shrimp Lime salad which I love each and every time I order it, however, the other night it was cold out, so I changed it up and got the Papperadelle with braised meat. Yummmmm, the meat was super tender and tasty- Decent size serving more than enough to fill you without over eating. We also split the bruschetta with amazingly soft and tasty mozzerella Our server, whose name I cannot remember right now was really good, she had just gotten slammed and yet we saw her take 2 orders just before us and you would have thought we were her only table."

"After shopping I hate to eat with the crowd down in the noisy food court. This Bistro offers a much more quiet and civilized luncheon experience. The food choices are great from the berry and fig salad I had to the sandwiches and pasta. They have a great view over Market Street and I could see City Hall from my seat. I always return here for a respite from shopping."

"We've eaten at the Cafe Bistro several times, and have never had an experience like we did last night. Over an hour after we placed our order our food had still not arrived, and as we had a play to catch in just 35 minutes we realized that we weren't going to have time to eat even if it came in the next couple of minutes. We asked for our check and left without eating. We had informed our waiter of this time frame earlier, and he gave us an exasperated "I am doing the best I can"!"
