A word from Café Bistro - Nordstrom San Francisco
Café Bistro is a stylish, yet comfortable restaurant featuring a contemporary American interpretation of classic bistro cuisine. Located on the 7th floor of the San Francisco Shopping Centre, it offers an exciting view of the downtown Market district.

Cafe Bistro food is visually powerful, bold in flavor and unique to the marketplace. The menu of flavorful appetizers, colorful salads, brick oven entrees and boldly flavored sandwiches are complimented by a well-chosen selection of hand-crafted cocktails and local California wines. A suggested finish to the meal would be the signature warm White Chocolate Bread Pudding or chocolate drizzled Profiteroles.

Excellent downtown view for those that want to enjoy a delightful lunch. Great for patrons of 2-4 people for those that want to be seated by window, excellent tourist spot. The food is beautifully presented. Service is outstanding. Food quality looks fresh and tasty, nothing too extraordinary.

Was not very pleased with waitress. She did not bring us any bread and butter until we asked for it while all the other tables automatically got their bread and butter. I had the same Crispy Roast Chicken at the Nordstrom Bistro a week earlier at the Stanford Mall and that one was much better. This time it was very greasy and the fries were also not crispy and wilty look. Stanford's was so much better.

We always enjoy our lunches at Cafe Bistro. Our girlfriends work nearby, so we often meet them for lunch there, and we often have birthday lunches or dinners there. It's our favorite place for lunch in that area. We always enjoy the food. Note that it is difficult to pay with multiple credit cards, as we sometimes like to do, and we never have this problem at other restaurants. A few months ago the manager said they were working on this. They should get it fixed. It is our only problem.

We had been here a few years ago. We found ourselves at Westfields SF Shopping Center and wanted to have an early dinner and remembered this spot. We were greeted promptly and taken to a nice table by the windows overlooking San Francisco as the sun was setting. Simply beautiful. I had the Crab Brioche which was out of this world and my friend had the black forest ham sandwich which also was delicious. The dipping sauce for the french fried potatoes was superb....would love the recipe. Our waiter was very attentive and our food came out quickly.....a perfect dining experience. I will be recommending this place to all of my friends.

Came for lunch and the food was great as always, especially the mushroom risotto which I highly recommend. The service however was horrible today, the waiter was unattentive and wouldn't bring things back when asked and we kept having to ask other servers and busboys for things. His mind was clearly not on assisting patrons.

Another fine lunch at Cafe Bistro up in the sky at Nordstroms. This nicely-designed restaurant is a stop whenever we are shopping downtown. The food is always excellent and the service prompt but not pushy. There is great bar service and an always interesting wine list. We had the chicken with frites and the shrimp and asparagus risotto. Both were excellent and the risotto in particular, perfectly cooked, which can be a problem when ordering this dish. Located at the top level and out of the mania that is the rest of the store, the Bistro is an oasis of calm and deliciousness. We'll be back.

Food and view are good. Enjoyed the crab/mac&cheese very much. Service was very slow. The restaurant was about 1/3 full but we had to wait for our order to be taken. One member of our group received her lunch when the rest were just about done. Then we needed to ask twice for the bill. I would return because the food is good and not an extravegant price.

The Cafe Bistro has been a regular meeting place for my family during shopping days for many years. We loved having great food, service and a little time to relax after shopping. Lately we have noticed subtle changes and with each visit, our meal became a little less enjoyable. We kept thinking it wouldn't happen on the next visit. All of that changed on our last visit. While most of the food was good nothing else was. We had the worse service we've ever had. Plates were never cleared, ordered items forgotten and not apology was ever given. Our party of 5 was placed at two small round tables in the bar, even though we had reservations. We have decide that until the Bistro improves, we'll be finding another family gathering place.

We enjoy eating lunch at Cafe Bistro at Nordstrom's. We always have a good meal there. The waitress this time was exceptional and the food was very tasty. Note that in order to save "waste" (probably meaning money for the restaurant) they now only bring you straws, bread, or water upon request. It would be better if they asked if customers wanted those items rather than making us ask for them.

Great location with a fantastic view. The food is enjoyable. I would say to be proactive with your server. A few times we had to follow up with a refill of water and pepper flakes. The restaurant was not that full. I would like to see more attentive service. I would recommend this place for the view alone. Great view of Powell Street. We work nearby and love to eat lunch at Cafe Bistro. In addition to just a few of us eating lunch there, we often do birthday celebrations there for lunch and dinner. We love the salads and the pizzas, as well as the sandwiches, and the entrees are very good also. Everyone always enjoys the food and the service, and we highly recommend it. Only problem we had is that we like to put the bill on a couple credit cards, and this caused some problems for the restaurant unless it is an exactly even split, or they do separate checks. Other restaurants don't have this problem. The manager said they were working to change their system, and he was very nice about it, but it is an inconvenience if some in the group like to pay with their cards.

This is not exactly an inexpensive restaurant but it's not outrageous. What it offers is consistency and location, especially considering you're in the center of downtown San Francisco. This is a regular eatery for us when in the city for a couple of days. Why? The delicious food, menu options and big one... price for what you get. We each have several "favorites" on the menu. Food is prepared beautifully and generously. Service is always friendly and attentive. Can't believe this gem is tucked away in Nordstroms. Recently took some reluctant "foodie" friends there for dinner. They didn't want to "eat in a mall" with all the other fantastic choices in the city, but it was so close to Yerba B. theater on a Sunday night that I convinced them. Both LOVED their meals, appetizers and drinks were beautiful, and dessert great. They were amazed. Very impressed. And when the bill came, I could only smile the entire way home.

I am usually very pleased with Cafe Bistro; however, today, the food came out cold or like it had been sitting there waiting to get picked up. Our previous dining here was fine. This time we were seated promptly, but it went downhill from there. Our waiter took forever to come and address us and take our drink order, telling us he wouldn't continue as our waiter since another waiter was taking over for him. It took a while for drinks and appetizers to come, but took a very long time for our main course to come with at least two status updates and apologies in between. Then we were offered free desserts for the inconvenience. That said we waited a long time for them to come and even got one before the other. We were so irritated we just asked for the check before they brought the desserts. To their credit the manager gave us the meal for free along with apologies. Food was great.

We had another lovely lunch at the Cafe Bistro celebrating a girlfriend's birthday. The service was a little slow this day because one of the servers had not shown up, but that was the first time that has happened to us, as the service usually is pretty good. Cafe Bistro has a fairly big variety of excellent salads, which some of us frequently order and love. They also have a large variety of other dishes, including pizza, pasta, seafood, etc. The food is quite tasty. We come here often for lunch with friends and highly recommend it.

My salmon nicoise salad was incredible. My Nor'Easter cocktail was good too though too much ice. There was a beautiful view, a great attentive server and clean updated surroundings.
