Diner Reviews
  • "Recently took my parents to Cafe Belong for brunch. The food was delicious and the view of Evergreen Brick Works (during the Farmers Market) was enchanting. Highly recommend this gem in the Don Valley!"

  • "Another excellent dinner at Café Belong, though some of the panache around service was on break the night we dined. Might be due to some staff turnover, and likely temporary. Still love this place."

  • "Recently opened, we were interested to try it out, the neighbourhood lacks better dining venues. It has been beautifully developed, spacious, relaxed, retro feel without trying to be too cute. Music just right, service freindly and attentive. All dishes were good, whilst 2, the bracciolli and squid ink pasta were very good. Interesting wine list , we ran out of room for dessert. A real step forward for the Junction, we wil be back."

  • "We really enjoyed our lunch at Cafe Belong. The food was both interesting and delicious. We had the charcuterie platter which was filled with all sorts of interesting meats such as elk. The St. Lawrence salad was awesome as as was the the squash salad. The view was lovely. The only negative comment I can say is that the salads seem a bit over priced, especially the squash salad. All in all, it was a great experience."

  • "Sadly, my scrambled eggs were very dry and tasteless. I was very disappointed. I know it's an excellent restaurant but my meal was not good at all. My server kindly took the eggs off my bill which was an appropriate thing to do."

  • "I found the food at Cafe Belong to be poor. I went looking forward to having an exceptional lunch and was very disappointed. Tempura pickeral was soggy and tasteless. My guests grilled cheese sandwich was huge amount of bread with littel cheese. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "This gem was a fabulous place for a girlfriend's brunch. It was so cute and cozy and every single dish was made to perfection. The coffee was amazing as well. Good service. Do not miss out on the chocolate chip pakcackes if they are on the menu, I've never had better."

  • "This was not my first experience at Cafe Belong. I have dined there several times, and the food consistently is fabulous each and every time I have been there. The ST. Lawrence Salad is the BEST SALAD in the city, and I truly dream about that for days before I go there for a meal! This time I tried the Fish and Chips, and it was amazing! We were a group of ten, and the service was wonderful! I won't hesitate to return to this "gem" in our city!"

  • "Thanks so much for the amazing Valentines menu. It's great to find somewhere focused on local, seasonal cuisine for Valentines, and a special mention for your knowledgable service staff who could answer questions on the source and type of ingredients. Made for a wonderful evening!"

  • "I would suggest that Open Table seriously consider dropping this restaurant from their list. I always look to Open Table for good restaurant recommendations. There was nothing good about Cafe Belong."

  • "Chef's menu for 10 people. Food was very, very good and the presentation of it was outstanding. Terrific ambiance, felt like we had the place to ourselves. Our server, Arianne, was simply wonderful - attentive, friendly and made great wine recos. Love this place!"

  • "What more can I say.........one of Toronto's hidden gems........in the Brickworks, so a bit off the beaten path, but a treasure worth of discovering. Highly recommended."

  • "On a quiet winter night enjoyed Cafe Belong very very much. Nice, efficient service and lovely dishes such as the bricklayers board (cold cuts) and the sweet and sticky pork. The location (the brickworks) is a bit hectic during the day but nice and quiet at night."

  • "Excellent Bison Bourguignon and lovely light tempura fish."
    Dined on 1/14/2014
  • "The Good: The service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant had a pleasant, relaxing vibe. The menu used locally sourced ingredients with some creative flair. The mashed potatoes that came were outstanding. The Bad: Most of the dishes were oversalted, especially the roasted chicken served to my wife. I had tempura fish and chips; the terrific coleslaw and homemade tartar sauce was moderated by the salty yet otherwise bland flavour of the tempura batter and the way over salty chips. The Reason to Stay Away: Good menu ideas, well chosen ingredients and great service can't overcome poor execution. The prices, while far from the highest in town, suggest that one might expect good quality at all levels. Over seasoning ruined the food."

  • "Our server was amazing - super accommodating and attentive. The food and drink was amazing and the menu was very unique and impressive. I wanted to try everything on it! It's hard to find a place so accommodating and such friendly staff. Will definitely be back soon."

  • "I always like to bring friends from out of town to this unique Toronto location. The food and service are outstanding but it does get a bit loud. Maybe granny wouldn't enjoy it so much but young people especially outdoorsy ones will love it!!!!"

  • "Rustic yet epicurean ,no tablecloths but careful menu planning!Do share the charcuterie platter with your friends ,flavours will surprise even the one guest who never goes beyond the smoked ham section. The bison stew was certainly a first for my husband and I , the meat was tender the sauce deep and rich in colour and taste. Chef presented us with Yorkshire pudding in the shape of a doughnut( a dish he was perfecting and wanting to add to the menu) a hot perfection on a winter evening! Fluffy dough and not greasy may I add. The wine we ordered was off ,the bottle was replaced promptly. At night the atmosphere is very cosy with lit candles on each table. Return visit definitely planned. It was a lovely way to spend my 60th Birthday."

  • "Meal was good, but expensive. Tasting menu ($80/person): 1st course: a tiny dish, with fish and a roasted beet 2nd course: Daily soup, tomato, with two oysters in it 3rd course: Pickerel, swiss chard & potatoes in parchment paper. 4th course: A cheese plate consisting of three tiny cubes of cheese,(size of your thumbnail) 5th course: A small cake, the size of a very small muffin, THAT WAS SHARED. NOT worth $160. Who shares a dessert in a tasting menu?? The cheese plate was miniscule. The main was good, but not a stand out. I appreciate that this was local, organic fare, but for the price you could go to a top restaurant and eat VERY well, and have exceptional service. Bill was $275 w wine - far too expensive for what we received."

  • "Cafe Belong is great. It's not your least expensive brunch - the limited menu is clearly geared towards high quality ingredients simply prepared. If you want the best priced brunch etc than look elsewhere. Belong has a great location, clearly, and you can see it all out the glass wall. It's quite nifty. I'll bet in 5 years it will not be so good, because it currently has the exclusivity of a high quality neighborhood haunt, but is located on the great public urban park. Can that really last? And you can make brunch reservations. So, in its own way, it's perfect. The burrito is excellent, and my mom said the Benedict type item was the best she'd ever had. Very good coffee."

  • "This is the second time we have gone to Cafe Belong. A bit disappointing . Food was fine but very expensive for the overall experience. They should consider listing what is on the 'chef's' menu for that day (a five course meal) if you are going to ask people to spend approx $70 - $90. We were not prepared to do this and be hopeful it was a menu we were interested in. Given that there were very few people in the restaurant i was surprised that i had to stand at the hostess area for 5 minutes before anyone acknowledge me."

  • "Our first visit to Belong was for brunch on a beautiful day. The food was good; the service excellent and a bright cheerful place to be, but it's cold and gloomy in grey November. The lunch menu is heavy and expensive. We settled of a grilled cheese sandwich: $16.00 got us two large, thick, dry, slabs of bread with a paper-thin slice of cheese, some "caramelized" onion, and a soggy side-salad. There's a much more appealing, reasonably priced take-out menu, but nowhere to take it when the patio is closed. Lunch NOT recommended off-season. Not easy to get to without a car. Parking is expensive and the ticketers are vigilant: we got a $30 ticket for being nine minutes past our time."

  • "The food at this Brickworks restaurant is honest and good. It took a while, e.g. the kitchen is not super fast, but that didn't bother us one bit. Would definitely recommend!"

  • "I booked this place because I have walked by it many times during my walks through the valley. I REALLY enjoyed the ambiance and the food was a good size and very tasty. The one thing that I found disappointing was the time it took to get our food. It seemed to take over 40 mins (too long) to get our food considering the place was nearly empty."

The ambiance in a reworked building in the Evergreen Brick Works complex provides the perfect backdrop for the locall sourced quality ingredients under the steady hands of the creative team in the kitchen.
