Diner Reviews
  • "My girlfriend and I reserved a table ahead of time, so we were promptly seated by the host. Almost immediately after sitting down, we were treated with an antipasti plate. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We both ordered one of the specials of the day - a pasta dish with shrimp and scallops. It was fantastic! And in generous portions, too. We finished the evening with limoncello shots. All in all, the staff was exceedingly courteous and generous, and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant as a place to get a fine Italian meal."

  • "Picked a bad day, big crowds upstairs and in back room so service was very slow. And we missed the bread sticks!!"

  • "We had a fabulous family dinner at Café Baci. Cori, our server, was great. He was attentive without being intrusive. He was knowledgeable of the menu and also had a good sense of humor. I had the Sarda, which I special ordered, and I was glad they could accommodate. It was absolutely delicious! My mother enjoyed her house salad as well as her Linguini Frutti De Mare. My brother ate the Chicken Crèma E Funghi and even licked the plate! Bob, the manager came over to see how we were doing and to make sure everything was to par – which, of course, it was and then some! He even took the time to chat with us for a bit which I appreciated. Our dinner came to a close with a surprise complimentary limoncello which was just the icing on the cake."

  • "This restaurant is absolutly the best in Sarasotta. The Veal abundanza is outstanding. The service is one of a kind. A must try."

  • "Our party was large, 11 people and ranged in age from 3 - 74. The staff was wonderful, while they don't have a children's menu per se, they did give the 2 little ones their own salad and a plate so we could easily give them dinner. Café Baci is truly one of the great fine dining establishments in the Sarasota area."

  • "Jessica was our waitress. She was awesome. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and I had trouble deciding. Jessica explained my two choices and helped make my decision. The food was delicious and even our finicky friend loved his meal. We couldn't ask for a better experience!"

  • "Though we have passed Café Baci on Rte 41 every single time we have been in Sarasota over the past three years, we never stopped in until this weekend. Noting that it was one of the entries when you bring up Open Table for Sarasota, we thought to give it a try. What a gem. The food was outstanding. My wife's meal based on server recommendation was excellent, my seafood linguine entrée was delicious. The service was impeccable, timely but unobtrusive. Managers stopped by to check on our experience and chat. Overall, it was one of the best total dining experiences we've had in Sarasota with our only regret that we hadn't stopped in sooner."

  • "I had the wonderful pleasure of dining at Cafe Baci in Sarasota on June 1st, 2014. They really treat their OpenTable diners amazingly well with a free antipasto plate and after-dinner refreshments. Besides the perks, the wait staff was attentive and quite personable. The eggplant parmesan is one dish that must be tried; it was absolutely amazing! I will absolutely go back the next time I'm in town!"

  • "Cafe Baci is better than ever, we would like to make it our weekly dine-out spot. Great Italian dishes and the veal, chicken and fish dishes are magnificent. We are not big red meat eaters, but our friend ordered the Osso Buco on a Wed. night and was so pleased. She is from Kentucky and she said she never heard of it before, now she wants to return in the Fall to have it again. The wait staff and hosts were professional and friendly."

  • "Whenever we visit Sarasota, a night at Cafe Baci is a must-do. As Chicagoan's we're spoiled by great Italian restaurants, and yet we always look forward to visiting Cafe Baci. The food is creatively prepared, fresh and always delicious. The service is excellent and the restaurant offers a wine list that offers a broad variety from around the world to satisfy one's palette. Recommended! Rick & Colleen"

  • "One of the most delicious and attractive meals ever. If they know you have a special occasion they give a free veg platter and free tiramisu desert. They really make you feel welcomed. "

  • "I think over the many years we have eaten at most restaurants in Sarasota. For good value and good, food, this is the best overall. The host, who might be the owner, kept us waiting 12 minutes and apologized like it was 2 hours. He also sent a complimentary antipasti to our table for the delay. Lorraine, our waitress, was great. The service was wonderful. My flounder was very fresh. My only complaint is the caper sauce was too much. I would order it again with the sauce on the side. The nice thing about this restaurant is the staff seems to really care about their patrons which is not true of many restaurants."

  • "The food we ordered this visit was not the best we have had there. Both meals were "Specials", so perhaps we will stay with the regular menu items."

  • "My elderly mother and I always dine here for dinner once or twice a month, because we enjoy both the food and the service. The menu has a good variety of authentic Italian dishes including soups, salads, various entrees, and pastas. Service is attentive and efficient. The manager and staff always seem to go out of their way to be helpful but not intrusive. A variety of daily specials are also offered. Portions are ample. Overall, a good choice for those who like good Italian food, served in pleasant surroundings by pleasant people."

  • "Cafe Baci is a true find. Food is authentic Italian, and prepared superbly. The wait staff is exceptional, the management visible and the service timing spot on. Can't say enough good things about it. "

  • "We've been going to Cafe Baci for twenty years. It's a rather "retro" Italian place, with a somewhat older clientele and a smattering of younger folks. Low-key but pleasant ambiance. As always, we enjoyed excellent, very well-prepared food and lovely service. Our three entrees included two fish specials, a sea base Francese and a grouper filet sauteed with a wonderful sauce that did not overwhelm the fish. Professional and attentive service that was never intrusive. You're made to feel welcome in a sincere way, not overdone."

  • "We had 4:30 reservation, but arrived early at 3:50. We thought we would wait in our cars until the restaurant opened at 4. The host came out the door and motioned for us to come in and we were seated immediately. The service was so pleasant and made us feel like we were friends. "

  • "The food was excellent. We had the red snapper - very fresh and flaky. The service was outstanding. We ordered a bottle of the house wine which was surprisingly good. We were greeted upon arrival by name even though we hadn't been there before - most likely because of our Open Table reservation. The complimentary antipasta and limencello were a classy touch. This was one of the best meals we had on our Florida vacation! Highly recommended!!"

  • "We have recently moved to Sarasota, and have found this Italian gem! Every meal we have gotten has been excellent. Brandi (our server) is extremely knowledgable and explains all the specials (and includes the price - so you know), as well as any other questions you may have on the menu. We have found that Cafe Baci appreciates our business, and makes us feel welcome. "

  • "We celebrated a 40th and 50th birthday here on Friday. The food is fantastic, our server, Suzanne, is always the best, and I will always choose Cafe Baci when I have a craving for homemade Italian food. I highly suggest the mushroom ravioli, veal piccata, penne ala vodka, bruschetta, tiramisu, and chicken parm. Those are the only dishes I've tried (each multiple times) and they're always on-point!"

  • "We were seated immediately by the polite host. Service as in the past, was excellent, starting with a small complimentary plate of antipasti. Wines here don't have to cost more than the meal, which we like a lot. House wine is about $18, as I recall. We learned that Wednesday evening is osso bucco night, which we will remember. It's always great."

  • "Our first time here. The ambiance was very romantic and authentically Italian. I particularly love that they were playing Italian music right from Italy. Then the food came and it did not disappoint. The antipasto was delicious (the salami in particular). I would have loved some olives though. Our meals were filling and fantastic. Oh, and the Caesar salad was the best in the area. Service was friendly and timely. Loved everything and will go back again. "

  • "Excellent food, tastefully decorated dining areas. Server was very nice but a little spacey. They started by brininging some caprese and raw vegetables as an antipasto at no charge to each table. For my personal taste skip the shrimp Baci appetizer it's a little too sweet and overpriced for what you get and the accompanying "toast" was burnt (others at the table did enjoy it) Everything else we had was delicious, chicken parm, angel hair alfredo, veal saltimbaca, and the pistachio encrusted sea bass were all top notch. Also, pasta lovers be warned that all dishes are served with vegetables and potatoes unless you specifically ask. We were there for a birthday and they brought free tiramisu (amazing!) and limocello, a nice ending."

  • "From the location and outside appearance, this wouldn't seem to be a place for good dining. Appearances can be deceiving. The staff was professional, welcoming and very attentive. The ambience inside is polished, not too grand, and - best of all - not noisy. You won't have to shout. The food Is very good, although the menu is traditional rather than innovative. Portions are about right. A very pleasant experience!"

  • "From start to finish quite enjoyable evening. We received much attention from the staff. And the food was perfectly prepared from the homemade ravioli to the sea bass. Waitress completed the home run. Or second visit this was and was as good as the first. "

  • "Some of the finest Italian food I've eaten in Sarasota. The homemade pasta alfredo was delicious as was the pistachio crusted sea bass special they were offering that night. Hostess was very friendly and personable. The server, Theresa, listened with open ears to our request for suggestions as we are in the food industry and her suggestions were spot on. If you haven't already, try it...you won't be disappointed."
