Diner Reviews
  • "The restaurant has a lively vibe, a mix of clientele (couples, girls nite out, families like ours...), and an efficient, friendly staff. For as busy as the restaurant was, the service was a perfect blend of attentive but also unobtrusive. We ordered 2 pinxtos and 8 tapas dishes for the 4 of us and everything was delicious, well presented and we were stuffed! The dishes came out gradually, so we had a chance to savor and discuss each dish before the next one came out. My only criticism would be the noise level (we were out on the patio area and the large doors to the street were closed since it was chilly) - nearly every table was occupied and the noise level was so high that we found ourselves using "bar voices" to talk over the din!"

  • "And extremely tight. They put the tables so close together that it was impossible to hear what the person I was sitting next too was talking about, because we were literally feeling as the table next to us was joined to ours. It was annoying, probably not going back anymore. "

  • "The food is always great here. Our favorites were the garlic shrimp, ham and chicken croquettes, short ribs, and lamb special. It's a fun place for a celebration with a group or for a date night."

  • "Great food and ambiance. Took out of town friends here. Something for everyone. Paella is worth waiting for and Sangria is the best!"

  • "Food was excellent and service was attentive. Wasn't really happy with the seating in the back side room. The restaurant wasn't crowded but for some reason they were packing people into these uncomfortable and squished side dining area. Would have been a much better experience in the main dining area or one of their nicer back or side rooms. Next time I will make sure to specify or ask to be moved. Food and sangria was delicious as always!"

  • "Everything was amazing, as always. Perfect spot for groups with the tapas style food. Bacon wrapped dates are heaven on earth. "

  • "Came here before a show at Park West. Service was very good, food even better. Fun to be able to try many new things. The seafood paella and brussels sprout salad were out of this world."

  • "I visited Ba-Ba-Reeba with my special lady and was not disappointed. The service was very good, the atmosphere was great and the Peach Sangria was to die for. We will be coming back as it certainly provided for a most memorable evening."

  • "Great for a small group, everyone gets to participate by ordering whatever tapas they want and sharing it. Excellent choice for both picky eaters and adventurous types. Expect between $25-$50 per person depending on drinks and dishes ordered. Lively atmosphere, you won't be bored here."

  • "Overall it was a great experience. My only complaints are that the service was a little slow and it was dark and loud. Food was great though"

  • "I absolutely love it here. After moving to Chicago in June, this is my favorite restaurant and I take all my guests here. The food is great, ambiance is very cool and the experience is just awesome. Sangria is delicious and they have tons of veggie options!"

  • "We enjoyed an early dinner before going to Steppenwolf Theatre. Our server made note of our time constraints and everything was served promptly. We ordered about seven items and all were delicious. I would definitely return!"

  • "It had been many years since I dined at Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba, but the restaurant is as lively and tasty as ever. Although tapas vary little from place to place, the seasonings at Ba-Ba-Reeba stand out and the service is excellent. Great for large groups, but please remember to reserve a table as they get quite busy."

  • "Loved the tapas, probably some of the best tapas I've had outside of Spain. The restaurant was fun and full of life even at 930-10pm. Definitely come try it out."

  • "This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend and I was a bit skeptical because I didn't even know what "tapas" was! After we took our first bite, my husband and I were in pure food heaven! We are not what you would call Foodies, but with every bite we would look at each other and close our eyes in pure food bliss! Eat the bacon wrapped dates in apple vinaigrette... never had anything like it! Melt in your mouth dishes that left us planning our next night out!"

  • "Went to Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba a couple of days ago and was extremely satisfied with the food. We ordered like 9 different things off the menu and all of them were excellent with the exception of the lamb on a stick, which none of us cared for. Even the desserts were excellent. We also have very good service. We will be back."

  • "I would qualify the food as being good tapas, but not the best I've ever had. The service and atmosphere made up for that and I would recommend, especially for a date night."

  • "When it comes to dinner, I am a huge fan of Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! However, I decided to check out the brunch and found it to be rather underwhelming. I was disappointed since I thoroughly enjoy dinner at the restaurant. The best thing I have to say is that the free orange jam that is placed on the table with toast was excellent, but everything else was bland and lackluster."

  • "Couldn't ask for more. Food, service, ambience were excellent. Food was delish! Had several tspas and all were tasty. Sangria just right."

  • "I had two friends in town from Minnesota and thought I would taking them to my favorite Tapas place. They both loved the food, wine and venue. One of my friends is gluten-free and Cafe Ba Ba Rebba even have a gluten-free menu that she could order from. We had a relaxing yet exciting dinner at Cafe Ba Ba Rebba and would definitely go back."

  • "Always reliable for dining companions of all kinds. Literally came here 20 years ago as a single female with friends and have come here consistently with co-workers, visiting family (including a teenage niece), date night and with food snobs. Cafe baba Reba is a hit with everyone. I should probably shut my mouth before it loses its quality and specialness."

  • "We had a great selection of wonderful Spanish food. The paella was great and plentiful. We will come again!"

  • "The restaurant came highly recommended from a few of my friends from WI. It was a Girls' Weekend so we wanted to find a place that would be fun for our teenagers. Café Ba Ba Reeba was the perfect fit. The side dishes were amazing while we waited for the paella to be prepared. Dessert was a great way to end the meal. The price was very reasonable for Chicago."

  • "Great place to go with friends especially when one of them does not eat red meat. Many vegetarians options, small dishes also allowed us to try out different items on the menu. Blood orange sangria was a great beverage to accompany it. The coconut flan was a great way to end the experience. It never fails to satisfy a growling stomach."

  • "We went with a large group for brunch. The restaurant is known for tapas style plates to share, but they do have breakfast entrees. The breakfast entrees are larger plates for one person like omelettes and eggs benedict. We each ordered breakfast entrees and also some tapas to share. The dining experience was kind of awkward because everyone's breakfast dishes arrived at different times, and one diner's entree arrived very late when most of us were finished eating ours. Also the coffee cups are very small and our waitress was not good about bringing by refills. We had to ask each time someone wanted a refill. However, the food is delicious and the restaurant is a very cool atmosphere."

  • "We've been to Cafe Ba Ba Reeba twice now and both times it's been excellent. An energetic restaurant in the heart of Lincoln Park, this place has awesome food, great sangria, friendly waitstaff, and a lively atmosphere. Love that they have valet parking and take reservations, too!"

  • "My daughter was looking for something different for her birthday and we found it here. A great selection of various tastes and flavors, and we loved everything we chose. The pitcher of Sangria was a great value too. Our server, Katie, was very helpful and oriented us on how to make the most of our evening. We usually spent 45 minutes tops at dinner, but we enjoyed two hours of several rounds of new foods, conversing along with the buzz of others enjoying themselves, and having a great time. Your group has to be open to trying new items, but this is an easy place to recommend."

  • "We will definitely be back. First time trying this type of eating style and it was great with the wide selection to choose from. Our waiter was phenomenal and vert professional. Also received free dessert by checking in on our Facebook location. Awesome idea. Thank you!!"

  • "Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba offers a great menu with a variety of options. Everything that I've ordered from there has tasted more than delicious and reminds me of my host mother's kitchen when I lived in Spain. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody."

  • "Even though we were an hour late for our reservations (Chicago traffic was horrible), they were happy to accommodate us with a short wait before being seated. Food came out fast though it was a very busy Friday night. Service was great."

  • "Vibrant feel to the restaurant with a good selection of small plates. Everything we tried was very good. Would recommend it for a fun or even romantic night out, if you get one of the smaller tables away from the main dining area."

  • "Had another outstanding experience at Ba Ba Ree Ba . Had the goat cheese, stuffed mushrooms, potato and egg omelet, beef empanada, and different types of croquetas. Everything was outstanding and the service kept all of our drinks filled all of the time without asking. We had four different desserts, the apple empanada, banana, chocolate pudding, and coconut flan. All were excellent. Always have had great experiences here."

  • "This was our first visit to Café Ba Ba Reeba and loved it. The wine list was adequate and the 4 topas dishes we had were more than enough for dinner. We topped it off with a couple of desserts and coffee. A great meal before the theater."
