  • "I think we were over zealous in our order - I would have appreciated that our server would have suggested less than what we did, as it also included paella - we were already full when the order came in."

  • "This place is one of our favorite restaurants in Chicago. The prices are super fair, the food is always amazing, and the service is great. In the summer it is even more awesome when you can eat out on the patio. Overall, this is a great place and is a lot of fun to go with groups or for special occasions. Definitely recommend to anyone, even people who are skeptical of "small plates". I always leave stuffed without spending a fortune."

  • "I went to Sepia during my first trip to Chicago. This restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the service was excellent. As for the food, I wouldn't say it was terrible, but I wouldn't say it was fantastic either. Given it is a Michelin one star, I guess I expected more. I would just rate this restaurant a bit above average. We ordered teg ricotta cavatelli with bone marrow butter and the foie gras. The cavatelli was a nice dish as sauce goes well with the food. As for the foie gras, there was no taste to it.For the main dish, we ordered the skate wing and seabass and it was fresh. As for the sides, I ordered the duck fat fries and I think you can get that at any other place with the same quality but for a cheaper price."

  • "On our last night in Chicago we wanted to try something different so along with a recommendation of a local foodie we chose this great place. We could only get a late reservation on that date but chose to meet our friends early to have a drink and asked if a table came up if they could help us out. Within 10 minutes they advised us a table has opened up and we were delighted to be able to start our evening. The food was great, our service was great and we would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting or living in Chicago."

  • "A friend recommended this place. We had a reservation and arrived early. At first glance I thought oh boy what have we done. The inside was surprising, and way larger than I thought. The food was very good and sangria which I was looking forward to very good. Our server did a nice job too. Great place for food and fun. No stuffiness here!"

  • "30 years ago, when they opened it was almost impossible to find tapas in Chicago. Now there are many choices but they are still one of the best.not only are the standards very good always have some interesting specials. We had a tempura like working a flower stuffed with goat cheese it was great.it can be a little noisy but if you ask the hostess to see you in the back it is possible to be able to enjoy good food and good conversation at the same time. So if you like topless it's a very good choice if you don't, the quality might change your mind"

  • "I couldn't have asked for a better way to end our busy day! Four of us were visiting Chicago for just one day and, after enjoying a Chicago-style pizza for lunch, I knew we wouldn't be too hungry for dinner. We ordered various Sangria flavors, five wonderful tapas, and four desserts; it was the perfect end to a perfect day. Each bite was both interesting, different, and tasty. There were not overpowering flavors and everything was well presented. My guests had never had tapas ... they are not at all adventuresome when it comes to food ... and they were delighted and impressed. One of them had coffee and she was impressed with the dark richness of the - this says something when she doesn't like espresso."

  • "This was by far the best Spanish Tapas Restaurant I have dined at. The food was amazing!"

  • "The food was good, although for the price of the dishes, the portions were a bit skimpy on the meat:veggie ratio. For example, the night's special shaved melon and Serrano ham had maybe 3 slices of ham and a bunch of melon. Also, for such a warm and humid evening, they should not have had the solarium open. I never stopped sweating. Service was good and the place was packed. Would go back."

  • "This Tapas restaurant was so great!! Food was excellent- the service was impeccable and the drinks were delicious! We had reservation on a Sat night and were seated within minutes. The server told us upfront if we wanted Paella we should put order in so it could cook while we were enjoying our other Tapas. We were going to order 4 servings and she explained how 2 was likely enough given portion sizes for the 4 of us. She was exactly right! The used plates disappeared from the table and new plates were filled without us even knowing it sometimes. We had all kinds if Tapas but the seared tuna was my favorite. And the goat cheese baked in tomato sauce...Yum! Oh! And the Beef a Tenderloin with blue cheese...so good! Love it! I'll be back!"

  • "The food was amazing. Our waiter said the small paella was good for 2 people and we split it easily between 3. He also said the largest sangria size was two glasses each for 3 people but it was more like three glasses each for three people. Besides those misleadings, the ambiance was very nice. It could be a romantic date or also a night out for the gals."

  • "It's not natural to love a restaurant thus much. I have never had a bad dining experience, poor service or food that wasn't delicious."

  • "I was very excited to return to this restaurant. I had been there 20 years ago. The food, the vib and the service was superb. I was disappointed to find that some things had changed. The service was still exception. The food was mediocre. The feel of the restaurant felt dated. It did have a high energy level that upped the ambience."

  • "Love the tapas here! Good atmosphere and really fun to share a few tapas. Loves the Broccoli slaw with Machengo, dates wrapped in bacon, aolio potatoes and spicy potatoes and garlic shrimp. Fun and very tastyl"

  • "Wanted to provide my Polish In-Laws with unique dining that they haven't experienced (Tapas). Food was outstanding, we were able to try multiple dishes and all were cooked to perfection. Classic red Sangria was a perfect pairing with our dishes. They loved it! Will be back! Father in Law asked if he really deserved this (outing was a belated Fathers Day)."

  • "Food was great at Cafe Ba-Ba Reeba. But don't go there if you're planning a long romantic dinner. We have half our food within 5 minutes of ordering, which means they are in the back making things slightly ahead of time so they are ready to go. This isn't a bad thing, just something to be aware of. Our waiter was helpful."

  • "Cafe Ba Ba Reba is one of my absolute favorite restaurants. They have tons a unique and delicious dishes. The great thing is tapas literally means small plates, so you can try many different dishes. If you don't get the bacon wrapped dates and sangria you are out of your mind."

  • "Quaint romantic for couples. Must visit if you're in the neighborhood. Good right before a play which may be in walking distance."

  • "Bustling place. Not the place to go for conversation with your food, but the tapas are delicious. The chorizo-wrapped dates, scallops with slices of orange, selection of cheeses, and seared tuna were memorable. Wife and I had Sangria and flights of wine which added to the fun. Teenage daughter and friend, neither particularly adventurous eaters, enjoyed trying new things and both expanded their palates a bit. Only thing that detracted was the level of background noise (place was full) exacerbated by fairly loud music. But after 15 minutes and a glass of sangria we had adapted and tuned it out."

  • "I love Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba!!! It can be hard to get a reservation, but it's worth it to keeping trying!!! I could go here over and over. I think the food is great, the drinks are great and for as popular as it is, it's never too noisy in my experience. Come with a group and come hungry then order as many great shareable dishes as you can. You won't regret it!"

  • "Our group of three went for an early dinner before the theater. We enjoyed several dishes. We had a thoughtful, attentive waiter who was patient, helpful, but not intrusive. On member of the group has some serious allergy issues. He graciously checked them out for each of the dishes without prompting. It was much appreciated. The patio was enjoyable at that time of the day. The noise level got a little uncomfortable, especially by the end of our visit."

  • "We were visiting from out of town, so it wasn't exactly like our favorite Tapas restaurant but still very good!"
    Dined on 11/10/2013
  • "The waiter was not as interested in waiting on us as his other tables. He brought the dessert menu over an hour after we got there - but before we actually got most of our food. He acted like he checked in the kitchen three times but we never got the food and left. The manager was apologetic and didn't make us pay, but we wouldn't have paid for anything anyway. The waiter seemed hung over or just clueless. No tip. Won't go back."

  • "If you have been to Spain, you know that real tapas are more than just a few bites. No, not a meal, but designed so more than one person can get a taste. The tapas here are flavorful but small. I mean, one empanada? They are really not made for sharing, which is usually the point. The paella was served tableside. It was tasty- maybe a little heavy on the salt. The service was efficient but rather aloof. We really enjoyed the sangria. Not sure if we would go again."

  • "My girlfriends and I tried Café Ba-Ba-Reeba for the first time on June 8th. We were celebrating our girlfriend's birthday and wanted to try something fun. We were all pleasantly pleased. We called ahead to let them know we were running a bit behind, but they were so accommodating and still seated us right away once we arrived. Our waitress Gabrielle, was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some awesome recommendations. The empanadas were my favorite and the ladies really enjoyed the seafood paella. Overall, a truly nice restaurant and we will most certainly return."

  • "Come hungry and hoping for a variety of great flavors, and you will really enjoy this restaurant. From the sangria to the paella and all of the small tapas plates in between you will be satisfied with a large variety of tastes before you leave."

  • "We live out of town but visit my Chicago frequently. We love tapas restaurants & have tried for a couple years to get into Cafe Baba Reba. I was so excited to get a reservation because I had read so many positive reviews. The peach sangria was tasty & refreshing but that's the only positive thing thing we were served. The potatoes were marginal at best, the curry chicken salad was swimming in mayo, the octopus had a gross layer of gelatinous fat around it and the bacon covered dates were weak. We ordered a couple other dishes that arent even memorable Even though it was not crowded, the service was sluggish. I told the waitress we weren't happy with the chicken salad and there was basically no comment from her. We will never go here again"

  • "We had such a great time at this restaurant. The portions were just right and every dish we ordered was delectable! Our server was super attentive and we didn't feel rushed at all, even though the restaurant was packed by the time we left (and it was Sunday!). The ambiance is romantic and intimate, even though the restaurant is (unexpectedly) HUGE! Overall, a delightful experience, and we'll absolutely be returning and recommending to friends."

  • "The noise level was moderate. However, the server was very soft spoken, and at times my table party had to ask a few times if he can repeat himself. We waited a while for him, to the point were a near by bus boy realized we had not been attend to. Although, he personality made up for it, the express was great, and so he turned out to be."

  • "Wonderful dining experience! My husband and I live in the suburbs and we wanted a nice and different place to eat before we went to the Chicago Symphony. The food and the staff were perfect. The atmosphere was perfect. This was our first time here and we can't wait to go back. All of our food choices from the menu were delicious. We had about six different items from the menu and three desserts, all were incredible. This restaurant has the best Sangria we have ever had. The price was very reasonable. The restaurant was very busy, yet the food kept coming out in a very timely fashion. Once again, nothing but great things to say about this restaurant. "
