In New Orleans proper, St. Charles Avenue connects uptown with downtown and plays host to the towering oaks, sprawling mansions and glittering Mardi Gras festivities for which New Orleans is known. In neighboring Metairie, home to Ralph Brennan's café b, the oft-traveled Metairie Road's vibrant cluster of locally-owned businesses, mix of modest and ritzy residences, and family focused amenities merits its inclusion among such iconic streets that are the lifeblood of their community.

Designed for a discerning, family, and food-focused audience, café b promises informally chic décor alongside comfort-driven food, service, and hospitality. Diner Reviews
  • "Always enjoy eating here. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing...feel like I could just hang out and enjoy my brunch mimosas without feeling rushed. The food has been consistently very good and the service has mostly been spot on. Don't let the fact that it's a neighborhood restaurant keep you from celebrating any special occasion here, it's up to the task and you won't be disappointed!"

  • "The service, the food, the atmosphere was great, we were celebrating my daughters birthday. I had the lobster ravioli, exceptional flavor, great dish, one daughter had the oyster linguine, she said it was awesome. My date had the filet mignon, cooked to perfection, the last daughter had the black drum topped with crabmeat, that dish was a hit with my foodie daughter. We visit all the Brennan family restaurants."

  • "My wife and I ate here for our anniversary. The service and food was great. The host and waitress, upon hearing of our special day, chatted with us and made the night extra special. Everything was excellent."

  • "Having been a long time fan of Cafe B, I have been very disappointed the last couple of lunches I have had there. The food remains consistent, but the service has not. The waitress was nice but appeared to be stretched to far. It took 15 to 20 minutes to place an order. The drinks come and the bread takes another 10 minutes or more. The food has taken up to 45 minutes to come. These were meals that were suppose to hour lunches. These were meals with reservations. These were not meals with alcohol or appetizers. The food continues to be delish, but no longer worth the frustrating wait."

  • "I am delighted I found this restaurant. I sampled the foods recommended by Clarisse (my waitress), and they were wonderful in taste as well as presentation (the grilled Romain Salad and crab soup were superb). I'm so glad I found this restaurant, and I'm likely to return during my New Orleans visit."

  • "Had a client in from out of state. They put is a table far away from everyone else so we could talk candidly. Server was attentive but never interrupted. We were there for 3 hours and there was never a rush to get rid of us. Food was terrific and made a big impression on my guest. Count on me again and soon."

  • "So delicious! The soft shell crab was so perfect. I loved the homemade potato chips with my club sandwich. It was a great dining experience as always. Everyone is so friendly and easy to talk to. Our servers were very courteous and knowledgeable. I know that we will be back soon!"

  • "Cafe B is another of the great Brennan restaurants. Every one that I have had the privilege to dine in has been a wonderful experience for me. My wife and our friend both had the filet and they were excellent. My wife likes hers medium well (I prefer it more to the medium rare side) and since she rarely is able to finish her meal, I generally end up eating some of hers. Even though it was more done than I liked (due to her choice), it was still quite tasty and not overly chewy. My fish with crabmeat was very good. I would definitely return to this establishment (My wife & I had actually dined there a few times before but this was our friend's first time & she loved it)."

  • "Sunday brunch was delicious. A wide variety of choices including some awesome crab options this month."

  • "We went to brunch and to say our food was medium was an exaggeration. I had the Crab Dip which is one of their specialties. There was so much cheese you could not taste the crab at all. They might as well have left the crab out and called it cheese dip. My husband had a burger, which although overcooked, was good. It was was just too pricey. the best thing I had was the turkey on the turkey club. It was real turkey, not deli meat. But the sandwich was so thick and the bread so crunchy ( it was hurting the roof of my mouth) I ended up taking it apart and eating it in pieces. We won't go back there for a while. the things on other tables which looked the best was the fried eggs and grits, but I can make that at home."

  • "Café B did not disappoint. Entrees were delicious, fish fresh and perfectly prepared as were salads. Noise level was a bit high for my liking which made conversation somewhat difficult. Service was friendly and responsive. Valet parking was convenient. Good to know of another quality restaurant choice in Metairie."

  • "I took a friend to Cafe B for brunch to thank her for driving from Wisconsin to Louisiana with me. Neither of us had been to the restaurant before. The restaurant was very crowded on a Sunday and many people there seemed to be regulars. I took that as a very good sign. She had the BBQ shrimp and grits and I had the Boudin Benedict. Both were very good as were the Bloody Marys. I will definitely eat there again."

  • "This place has it all--Great food, good wine, Brennan quality service, excellent bar just for hanging out...with parking and convenience! And brunch was as good as the scrumptous dinners I have had there. One of the best!"

  • "I thought the food was very lacking and was nauseous during the night. Fishy tasting lobster ravioli and skimpy crab claw appetizer. Husbands food was tasteless as well. Very busy so service was very slow and cocktails poorly made. Did not enjoy and as this is second visit with same opinion will not go back."

  • "Have been trying to get together with three of my sisters for two months, finally we could all agree on a date. For logistical reasons, I chose Cafe B as our meeting place because the food is good and you can actually have a conversation in the place. Our waiter, Alex, was so personable and very attentive, without being intrusive. For an appetizer, we shared the eggplant sticks...I would have preferted it with a marinara sauce, but the sauce was tasty. All of our entrees and gumbos were delicious."

  • "I am born and bred New Orleans and really don't care for the Brennan's restaurants all that much. When my mother wanted to go there for lunch I was skeptical. But I have to say the food was quite good, the aesthetics were very nice, and the price was beyond fair. Well done. "

  • "As with all Brennan's establishments, Cafe B is great spot with good food, and great service. A little pricey (filet is $35) but quality is good. Would have liked an option of a petit filet since the portion was way too large for one person!"

  • "It was a nice place, good and clean. There was a special menu for Mothers day and this caused a problem. It had limited items to select therefore we didn't see very much we liked. This made our visit very uncomfortable but since it was a holiday and finding another place to dine was out of the question unless we wanted to wait along time. I did like that we where sit immediately upon arrival. The waiter, Mac was very nice also."

  • "We have been to Cafe B twice and each time our expectations were not met. The food is rather bland, unexciting, and overpriced. Service and ambiance are fine, but again noting noteworthy."

  • "Thank you so much to Steve, who I believe helped me set my reservation on Open Table for their Mother's Day Prix Fixe menu. We had an absolutely wonderful time, and our waiter (I think his name was Leonard) was excellent with the timing of our meals, even with a full house for Mother's Day. The bloody Mary's were excellent, as was our food. We will absolutely be back! Thank you for an a wonderful first impression. "

  • "Wonderful! In spite of it being Mother's Day! They didn't try to overcrowd the tables to make more money. Seating was ideally roomy. Service was perfect - She practically read our minds! We told them we were sharing entrees and they did it for us in the kitchen-a service & beautiful plate presentations! Donut holes-a must! Bisque-delicious and not too spicy! The grits and grillades - fantastic although we needed more "gravy" to cover the ample grits given. Delicious Filet - perfectly cooked and tender! Good potatoes. Didn't care for the "greens". Ice Box Pie - yummy! Strawberry sorbet hit the spot. Service was quick but not rushed! We could take our time and be done as soon as we wanted! Ready to go back again! "
