A word from Cafe B
In New Orleans proper, St. Charles Avenue connects uptown with downtown and plays host to the towering oaks, sprawling mansions and glittering Mardi Gras festivities for which New Orleans is known. In neighboring Metairie, home to Ralph Brennan's café b, the oft-traveled Metairie Road's vibrant cluster of locally-owned businesses, mix of modest and ritzy residences, and family focused amenities merits its inclusion among such iconic streets that are the lifeblood of their community.
Located at 2700 Metairie Road, Café B is a casual eatery offering locally influenced "elevated neighborhood" cuisine, custom built for Metairie's multi-generational clientele. Designed for a discerning, family, and food-focused audience, café b promises informally chic décor alongside comfort-driven food, service, and hospitality. Its brief, confident, and straight forward menus offer refined American comfort food at reasonable prices.

Diner Reviews
  • "We had reservations at a steak house but after driving down to the steak house we could not find a place to park because valet was not taking cars due to a certain fest in town. We were very happy things worked out this way because it turned out to be a much better evening. Everything was perfect."

  • "Easy and casual. Nice menu - not very large, but adequate. Easy to get to, plenty of parking and nice atmosphere. Food good - not "over the top", but tasty. Would return."

  • "Excellent food and service. Healthy and indulgent choices on the menu. Perfect restaurant for lunch or dinner with friends or a date night. Nice selection of cocktails and wines by the glass"

  • "Food was great as usual. Haven't ever been disappointed in what I ordered. Service was a little slow (maybe a new waitress?) not usually the case. The usual here is equal to the other Brennan's endeavors. In fact the only thing I can find wrong is that when the AC is on it sounds like a helicopter is landing on the roof. The building is relatively new so I don't really know what that's about! Overall this is a wonderful dining venue."

  • "Cafe B continues to be a beacon of superior cuisine in this this ritzy New Orleans suburb. Four of us started with the garlic fries with house made ketchup. The gumbo was dark and rich. The Diver scallops with kale were cooked perfectly. The grilled romaine with fresh blue crab was delicious and generous. The pulled pork sandwich got a thumbs up. For dessert the house made Apple Strudel with a dollop of house butter pecan.ice cream plus a separate full serving of the house butter pecan was generous enough for 4 of to share. The lunch 10¢ martinis that started our lunch were tasty too. The house rolls are layered and flaky like little round croissants. Cafe B is another Ralph Brennan hit. Our waitperson was efficient and pleasant."

  • "Worth the trip out of New orleans, especially is you have a car. The service was awesome. My kids loved the kids menus and delicious fresh healthy kids choices. Our fish was amazing. This place combines a lovely atmosphere, attentive service and gourmet food with a kid friendliness not usually seem at "high end" restaurants. Highly recommended for foodie families!"

  • "We are in town for Mardi Gras and as you can imagine, eating, more eating and celebrating. We decided after a long day of parades that we wanted to find a quiet dinner with 'comfort food" near our friend's home. Cafe B is just down the street. We were greeted warmly and the service, led by our waitress Darlene, was perfect. The food was imaginative, wonderfully presented and very tasty. Just about everyone should find something to like on the menu, although it might be slim on vegetarian options. In a town full of great restaurants, we will definitely return to Cafe B."

  • "Cafe B is exactly what's missing in Metairie. And it seems that they get everything right: cooking, preparation, portions, and pricing. There are other nice restaurants in Metairie, just not enough."

  • "My server (Wendy) was one of the outstanding things about the night."

  • "Had reservations for Valentines Day. We were seated right away, waiter was very pleasant and food was awesome. I was surprised but pleased with the one price menu, appetizer, entree and desert. Sometimes when a restaurant does the one price, the quality of the food suffers, not at Cafe B's. We had a very happy Valentines dinner. We were not rushed or crammed in."

  • "Sometimes feel rushed by servers. Dining rooms lack atmosphere & have no real warmth to them seems better suited for lunch than dinner. With all that said, expansion of the menu is great, the food is always flavorful and presentation as usual spot on!"

  • "We took a girlfriend to dinner to celebrate her recent marriage. The waiter treated us as if we were his special guests and nothing was too much trouble. He was kind, courteous, informative and efficient in everything he did. We had an unhurried, lovely evening! The food was delicious and beautifully plated. Will be back:)."

  • "Great food and atmosphere. We went on a Friday night. It did take a while to get our food though. They were very busy that night. The food is excellent and the service. After all, it is a Brennan's restaurant. So, you do expect the best. It was the first time going there for my son and his finance but not for me. They were pleased and will be going back there again for sure. Loved it."

  • "The Happy Hour is great. Best Dirty Martini ever, and only $5 during happy hour. The specialty drinks were also very good and only $5. The Panko Eggplant "fries" appetizer are absolutely wonderful. The Salmon was good as well. Can't wait to go back. Their $18 three course price-fix menu is a super deal."

  • "Had a wonderful 3 course shrimp theme lunch. Started with Pot O’ BBQ Gulf Shrimp, which is one of the best anywhere in the city. Followed that with the special shrimp and crab soup, and the main course - the special of the day - grilled shrimp pasta in a lemon butter sauce. As usual, the food was cooked to perfection, and served skillfully. Looking forward to my next meal at Cafe B."

  • "Nice place but the food definately just ok. Turtle soup was served room temp. and not very good. Had to remind the server twice about receiving a coke."

  • "The Gulf fish I ordered clearly sat under the heat lights too long before it was delivered. When I pay $100/couple for dinner, I expect a little more. Next time I'll go to Vega or Ralph's on the Park."

  • "Was able to get a last minute reservation and felt the service was top notch from the moment we drove up to the valet station. Our waiter was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable, and the food was wonderful. I have bypassed Café B due to parking concerns, but the valet parking solved that problem for future visits. Another wonderful Brennan eating experience."

  • "table was ready when we arrived. the food was good and everyone was happy with their selections. the only problem was with the waiter. everyone felt that he was rude or maybe he didn't want to be there that day. hopefully this wasn't his normal personality, because he really made the dining experience a bit stressed. but the food was good, which is why we came in the first place."

  • "Having dined at Cafe B previously, we expected good food and good service and we weren't disappointed. This was a sane place on New Year's Eve with good service and a solid, well-prepared special menu with many choices. The price-quality ratio was fair, especially given the night. Most of the diners appeared to be neighborhood people who were out to have a good time, but not wear a lampshade on their head and the restaurant fulfilled that expectation."

  • "We enjoyed the meal very much and were glad we chose this restaurant to celebrate our Anniversary. The food was excellent and the service was very good. The gentleman( I think the owner) greeted us warmly and gave us his full attention. This was very much appreciated. His greeting did not seem business as usual but as though we were very special guests."

  • "This is a great addition to Old Metairie. I made reservations for 2 and mentioned to friends my spouse and I were going to Ralph Brennan's new restaurant. It was a very busy Friday before Christmas with several large parties occupying the tables. On our way to Cafe B, our friends decided to join us. Despite being full, the manager and hostess looked at each other with panic in their eyes and said, " Please give a few minutes to make some changes." Within minutes they solved the seating dilemma our table for 2 was changed to a table for 4. The food and service were outstanding. Our lunch special martinis were an extra treat. What lively, fun , delicious lunch. We even got jingle bells to wear."
