A word from Cafe at The Gladstone Hotel
The best coffee on Queen Street starts brewing early, but our beautifully restored Victorian Café is a great all-day dining spot, featuring Chef Mario Paz's inventive new menu, a clever cultural mash-up of Toronto’s best eats.
Watch Queen West bustle as you enjoy our full breakfast menu OR Join us for lunch and Dinner. Interesting people, interesting conversations, even more interesting menu. Whether it’s a quick bite or a group brainstorming session, the Café is a great lunch spot for all types of hungry creatives.
Enjoy our new by-the-glass wine system, which allows guests to choose their preferred wine or try something new, without having to order by the bottle.
Don’t forget about the weekends. Named “BEST HOTEL BRUNCH” in Toronto by En Route magazine, Chef Mario Paz really takes brunch up a notch.

Diner Reviews
  • "Both servers ignored us for a long time - would not go back"

  • "We had the Valentines Day prix-fixe meal. Oysters, frisee salad, short ribs, Cornish hen, and a fondue to round out the meal... plus cocktails and wine. Everything was perfectly cooked, delicious and balanced."

  • "I had purchased two vouchers which included a night's accommodation at the Gladstone, dinner for 2 and a bottle of wine (per person). A great deal! What was shocking was when our server arrived to take our order, they conveniently "ran out" of steak, the highest priced menu item. Considering the hotel is adjacent to a 24-hour grocery store, there was really no reason why the restaurant would have been unable to prepare us a steak unless they just didn't want the expense. Otherwise bland food and lackadaisical service. Maybe they should stick to running a hotel and not a restaurant."

  • "The food took a very long time. Once, it has arrived, we had to send 2 (out of 4) of our orders back because one of them had a hair on it and the other was the wrong order... The buttermilk pancakes very delicious though. Overall, it was pretty expensive and not worth it."

  • "Love the ambiance of the corner café of The Gladstone, always nice for get-together with friends. Brick walls, big windows looking out over Queen West ... love it. Christopher was great, attentive and interesting ... even though we only had drinks and soup (it was so cold outside) ... he treated us well!"

  • "My chickpea with feta cheese was delicious...in fact I will try to duplicate the recipe for an at home meal and my guest loved her crab salad with braised lettuce. No bread service which we found strange but the glass of wine was great...not skimpy and the cappuccino was excellent. I will definitely return...in fact I have been there a few times already."

  • "The meal at the Gladstone exceeded all our expectations; the salads were fresh, interesting and unique. We did our carnivoire treat and thought the steak and the pork was exceptional. We were on a package so had limited wine choice. We were able to taste it in advance of ordering and it was just great. When one of the desserts we ordered wasn't available, the manager came to apologize and topped up our wine in apologetic gesture. The service was informed, friendly and perfectly timed. We can't wait to return to the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the Gladstone."

  • "Having eaten at the Gladstone previously I was looking forward to having brunch there on a Saturday. Unfortunately this experience did not match my expectations. The food while tasty was lukewarm at best, not presented very well and took an age to get to us after placing the order. We were a party of seven which seemed to throw them off, from seating arrangements to getting all the meals served at the same time. Overall a disappointing meal."

  • "Great spot and food, usually. Unfortunately, breakfast really lacked presentation and quality / taste. BF menu somewhat weak too compared to other places in the area. Lunch and dinner options/quality are usually quite nice though."

  • "Really enjoyed the ambiance of this hotel bar. The salute to its past glory with the antique pendant lamps overhanging the window, the exposed brick walls, as well as the modern touch of displaying visual art gave the hotel/bar its charm. We really enjoyed this aspect and felt very comfortable observing the scene outside with people hurrying along and the streetcar rumbling past with its commuters heading home after a work day. The tomato soup was very nice, and the salad was fresh. This was our first time here. We are from out of town and were here on a Tuesday night to view and attend the Joe Fafard/Joel Fafard exhibit/concert which we thoroughly enjoyed."
