The food and service at Café Amelie was very good. The staff was very accommodating on a busy Sunday night. The only negative comment on the food was the Lamb entrée, which was a little overcooked for my taste, but very good overall.

Beautiful warm evening meal at Café Amelie a little gem in a beautiful courtyard. Although we didn't dine in the courtyard itself our table was situated next to the open doors that looked upon the courtyard and other guests. Server was gracious and knowledgeable. Food was very good and well done. Would definitely recommend to any of our friends and would return for dinner if we are back in New Orleans. Well done!

So disappointed with our dining experience after reading such great reviews about the place. The service was awful. Server was slow and practically "absent". It was hard to get her attention and we had to wait a very long time between courses. This was made worse by the fact that the chairs for outdoor seating were most unstable and uncomfortable! The food was just okay and served lukewarm after a long wait. We wanted to try dessert but it took so long to get a menu and we had to wait another 15 minutes to get our server's attention to order that we decided to just get the check. Ambience was nice and perhaps this place is better known for brunch.

I was disappointed---really not that special--certainly did not live up to other's reviews. Outdoor chairs were quite uncomfortable for a long dinner. Garden is nice, but nothing spectacular. Food was good, but not great. Service was not good---friendly, but not attentive. We were told incorrect information about the special's ingredients ie, it was a pasta with eggplant and peppers and mushrooms. Well, none of those items were in the pasta sauce. It was tasty, but not as described! There are so many places to choose from in NOLA, that I simply would not return here.

My guest, my husband and me went out for dinner with our very well mannered Shih Tzu. We were welcomed in the courtyard dining area and served a delicious meal quickly. Service was impeccable which is most appreciated by this French Quarter resident. My guest remarked, "Its the best lamb chop of my life!" Reservations recommended.

Lovely courtyard in the French Quarter, tucked away from the chaos. Lots of tables, charming atmosphere-make a reservation! Outside tables go quickly, even early in the evening. The poutine was fantastic, as were the shrimp-smaller portions, but still worth it! We both had the ginger beer cocktail, which was unique and one of the best we have ever had!

My fiance and I decided to try this place based on some great reviews. We were not disappointed! The drinks are delicious and the food is out of this world. We started with a few cocktails (MUST TRY: Cool Hand Cuke & La Flama Diabla). We ordered the shrimp & grits with corn andouille maque choux and the jumbo lump crab cake. We also shared the cochon de lait sandwich which is a shredded pork sammy. The portions were generous and really flavorful. My favorite was the crab cake because it was drizzled with a citrus glaze; the combination of salty and sweet was mind blowing & the lumps of crab meat are obscene. Also, our waiter was really nice and upbeat which made us feel comfortable. Please give Cafe Amelie a try, you will not regret it.

It was our first time in Nola & after reading many positive reviews, decided to check out Cafe Amelie for our last meal in the city. The brunch was great; if you want to sit out in the scenic courtyard, I would recommend booking ahead, the earlier the better (they open at 11). I had the daily quiche special which was delicious, and my fiance had the cochon du lait sandwich. We shared the chicken and adouille gumbo. All amazing! You can tell all the ingredients are very fresh and local. Sadly, as it was our last day, we were a little too hungover to sample the breakfast cocktails, but I wish I had been able, as they all sounded scrumptious too. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting, & I know for a fact I'll be returning!

We originally had an inside table, but, upon seeing the courtyard, we quickly requested an outside table. Though the chairs did not seem to be the most stable, we got over it, as the lights in the trees, the breeze and the soft conversation around is mesmerizing. The oyster artichoke appetizer was excellent, as was the Cajun poutine (French fries with cochon de lait on top- it was a game day indulgence!). The Amelie salad was great, but the entrees were by far the most impressive fare. The lamb shank or the crispy duck were my favorites, but I adored the lamb meatloaf and the seared tuna. I will certainly be going back!

Everything about Cafe Amelie was wonderful. You come in to a beautiful courtyard where you can eat (it was hot and humid so we chose inside). Appetizers were BBQ Shrimps, beet salad, liver pate and brussel sprouts baked with bacon and balsamic, all wonderful. Mains were duck, specled trout and lobster filled pasta again all great. Service was friendly attentive and professional.Wine list favored Europe, South America and New Zealand, many good well priced options. We had a memorable evening.

Went for lunch/brunch because couldn't fit it in for dinner! We were seated inside, which was fine with us as we had walked a bit to get there in the high heat, but the courtyard is BEAUTIFUL! Our waitress was just okay. Wasn't rude, but wasn't nearly as friendly as any of the other waitstaff we had throughout our week long vacation in New Orleans. She seemed to be in a bit of a rush with us. My husband had the Amelie salad & said it was very good--really liked all the fruit & toppings on it. I had the cochon de lait sandwich. The meat was amazing; super tender & flavorful, if a bit messy! However, didn't realize it came with NOTHING else & wasn't offered/suggested to order anything with it. Would have gotten something. Would try again

I had originally secured an outdoor table for Brunch. The weather was too hot for my wife and the staff did a marvelous job of getting us moved to a wonderful inside table. The view of the outdoor dining area was almost as good as being out there. The bartender was a help when I asked for a recommendation on a cooling drink for my wife. Our waitress was full of personality and knowledge. She was very helpful and elevated the dining experience. The food was good bordering on very good. We would have returned if we had more time.

Such a lovely setting walking thru the garden into the restaurant. Setting inside was quaint and charming, with soft lighting. Service was excellent. Not a large menu, but very palatable. Our only regret was that it was extremely warm that night and we were disappointed that because of this we chose to sit indoors. Would have loved to dine in the garden! Would definitely recommend Cafe Amelie.

After reading all of the wonderful reviews for this restaurant, we were really looking forward to going there for dinner. I had asked for a table by a window, thinking it would provide us with a view of the courtyard. We got a table by a window that had a very dingy sheer drape upstairs which seemed to be the family room - two families with young children. Not exactly the "romantic setting" I thought we would experience. With all of the wonderful dining destinations in New Orleans, Café Amelie will not be on our "dine there again" list.

We loved the atmosphere at Café Amelie. Best courtyard in NOLA. We enjoyed the tomato bisque soup, shrimp & grits appetizer (enough for my meal) and the salmon entrée. Wish the menu was not so limited. Would have loved to substitute the soup for a crisp green salad without blue cheese but menu did not offer one. Consider adding a few items to menu (maybe a steak option and another gulf fish option) and a salad with a light vinaigrette dressing especially in the summer time. Wish we had eaten outside but rain was expected to so we sat indoors but still had a beautiful view of the courtyard.

I had read about Amelie on Zagat's and never realized there was such a quaint, lovely, and non-French Quarter feeling place right there on Royal St. The food was solid (I got the banana waffle which is hard to screw up so not necessarily a great barometer), the courtyard transported me out of the Vieux Carre, and the drink list was varied, interesting, and impressive. Would definitely give it another shot for brunch and maybe try a bit more adventurous of a dish.

Great place away from the hustle and bustle of the city. My husband, daughter, and I had a memorable meal out in the courtyard. That night's drink special, something like a watermelon citrus mojito, was just refreshing! Shrimp and grits, along with the glazed shrimp appetizer were delicious! Thumbs up from my husband for the seared tuna, although the shrimp pasta and chicken entrees were just decent. No children's menu. The chairs are not very comfortable, so you won't want to stay too long. Overall, we enjoyed our one time dinner, but for two adults and a two year old to eat for almost 200 bucks without dessert, doubt we will go again!

I was very excited to celebrate an anniversary at Cafe Amelie after having read the reviews. While the hostess that night didn't really set the right tone with her lack of friendliness, the main attraction - the food! - was wonderful (loved the fig jam and goat cheese app, pork tenderloin with mango) and our waiter, Wade, was very knowledgeable and anticipatory of our needs. He surprised us with a light apricot sorbet dessert without even knowing we were celebrating. We would return and hopefully get to try some more of the dessert menu (we were too full to make a serious attempt)!

Was recommended from a friend who visited NOLA before we did, and it was great. Food is delicious, the atmosphere is fantastic (quaint and quiet for being in the French Quarter), and the service was top notch. We had a window seat inside, perfect for our last meal in NOLA before leaving. The bartender made my date's drink, a seasonal cocktail, then changed how he made it and offered to remix hers the way he adjusted it. That added to the ambiance of it being a local owned shop that caters to their customers needs. Don't get it confused with Petite Amelie down the street, also - unfortunate to say - but pass on the desserts here, they don't live up to the rest of the menu.
