Cafe AmelieGreat atmosphere for outdoor diningThis restaurant should be on everyone's short list of favorites in NOLA. We have a nearby condo therefore spend plenty of time in the FQ and know most of the dining locations well and Cafe Amelie is one of our top places to dine. Very accommodating staff and excellently prepared dishes. The smaller than usual menu is a plus for us as we can decide with only one glass of wine. A few minor negatives--I would have given 4 3/4 stars since 5 implies perfection. One of the minor negatives included chatty hostesses and unoccupied waiters hanging out at the hostess station. Usually not a problem, but because the restaurant is small, it does detract if you are at one of the tables adjacent. So if you're at one of those tables, just be prepared to hear more than you might want to about what's going on after work instead of talk about actual work. Other minor negative was a small piece of black slimy lettuce in my salad. We could not even see the menu at all and the staff didn't seem to understand this was a problem. Salmon was quite nice. Been there for dinner, drinks, and brunch. All outstanding food & service. Great outdoor courtyard to eat or drink in when the weather is nice. Went there for dinner once with no resv (90 min wait), instead got a couple drinks and sat in the courtyard (and drank our dinner!). Great menu choices with small twists on traditional southern food.
