A word from Café Adelaide at Loews New Orleans Hotel
Acclaimed by local and regional food writers as one of the best New Orleans Restaurants, Cafe Adelaide is a favorite of local residents as well as visitors. Modern Creole Cuisine featuring seafood and farm fresh ingredients is the cornerstone to "eating, drinking, and carrying on" at this Commander's Palace Family Restaurant.

The Swizzle Stick Bar is a nod to the Brennans' beloved aunt, Adelaide Brennan, whose joie de vivre and charming pursuit of the good life is captured in the decor and design. Named for the gold swizzle stick that Adelaide wore around her neck, this fun watering hole is getting a lot of attention reviving classic cocktails. Bar Chef Lu Brow leads a team dedicated to the art of presenting perfect cocktails. The culinary team is led by Executive Chef Carl Schaubhut.

Within walking distance to my hotel was my criteria and the menu looked interesting. Had "fit" items too.Cafe Adelaide went beyond those expectations! Nice pairings of unusual ingredients. The Adelaide Swizzle was WOW. I'm not a cocktail person generally, but in New Orleans it felt apropos. The combo of bitters, rum, lime: not too sweet, just marvelous! Had a grouping of drunken melon salad (very yummy, unusual), butterflied pork chop with absinthe barbecue sauce, with sweet potatoes & same sauce, plus side of "slaw" w/ mirliton, pickled other items. Nice contrast. Dessert: Bananas Foster Sundae. Single glasses of wine complimented the meal. Lovely overall. Quiet & not rushed service. Perfect evening.

The brunch was wonderful. We wore hats so received the free martinis! The choices all looked so good that it was hard to choose. Since there were so many of us, we could select a variety of dishes off of the menu and without exception they were fantastic.

The Adelaide is another very good Brennan's restaurant with a strong Creole bias. The food was better than I expected, and has an attractive interior and decor which while not romantic is certainly pleasing and additive to the dining experience. The menu is certainly more limited than a Mr. B's, Commanders or other B restaurants but large enough to afford choice. The one criticism I have goes to the wine list which I believe is too limited in choice.

Couldn't get a reservation at Commander's, so decide to try it's sister restaurant. The appetizers (shrimp and tasso corndogs and cornmeal crusted oysters) are quite good. The turtle soup is excellent -- the dash of sherry really brings out the flavour of the soup. The crab was somewhat subdued and played second fiddle to the dumpings in the crab-n-dumplings. The seared gulf fish was fine, but not a standout. The service was a bit of a letdown. It was very slow and not too attentive, and the restaurant was not crowded.

YOur restaurant was recommend to us and we were not disappointed. The food was fabulous and service for the most part was great. We were a bit surprised when one of our guests asked the waiter if the bar had a certain type of beer. The server responded that he did not know but made no mention or move to find out. Our guest asked if he could go and find out. Other than that, loved it!

Went for Sunday brunch. Made reservations and mentioned had a vegetarian in the group of three. We were seated promptly then ignored for 15 minutes before waitress came to the table. When she took our order we asked about the squash in the entree and she did not know nor attempted to find out. We sat for over one hour before our food arrived...barely warm. I live in New Orleans and will not be back nor suggest this to others. Way too many better places to enjoy brunch within walking distance of this place. I was extremely disappointed.

O(verall, excellent - food, service, and ambience. Only complaint was that the table for 4 was a little crowded; larger tables would be a great addition. Booths were avaiable, but not really conducive for 4, so not a good alternative.

We had a great evening at Cafe Adelaide at the Loews. Unlike a lot of places, they have free Valet parking at the front of the Hotel, you just let them know you're there for dinner and your ticket gets stamped inside. Having the Swizzle Stick Lounge there is a huge plus, as its a very comfortable and cool place to hang out and have a drink while waiting for your table, and again for a nightcap if you aren't driving. Our meal was excellent; there was a prix fix menu available and we chose it, as the entree items looked very good. I had the pork chop, and it was cooked to a perfect medium, which is hard to do with a 1.5 inch thick chop. Will definitely go back again.

We had friends in from out of town for the saints game and wanted to meet somewhere for brunch that would be near for them to walk to the super dome. This fit the bill. We were able to park valet. The meal had one highpoint which was a shrimp and tasso corn dog. It was fantastic and I had never had anything like it. Cudos to the chef for creativity. It worked. It had a light breading with a spicy remoulade style sauce with pepper jelly. It was reminiscent of a commanders palace dish but was great. That said, everything else for the six of us was uninspired and not worth the price. Small portions on the entrees and starters that were medium warm. There are too many good places in New Orleans to eat to go here.

We just happened to be New Orleans for the last weekend of Restaurant Week & stumbled on this listing on Open Table. The Turtle Soup was delicious, just a hint of spice, nice & thick. The crab entree was delicate & tasty. The creme brulee for dessert was outstanding. The service was a bit indifferent considering the price point of the location, but overall a nice evening.

I went to Café Adelaide for a business dinner during restaurant week. Everything on the menu looked delicious. I ended up selecting the Shrimp and Okra Gumbo, Beef Tournedos, and White Chocolate Biscuit Pudding, and it was absolute heaven. The waiter also brought us a round of Swizzle shots, which were absolutely divine. From the food and drinks to the service, I would HIGHLY recommend Café Adelaide, my best dining experience to date.

We went for restaurant week, choosing Adelaide over a number of contenders because of the menu. Unfortunately, the complimentary mini-cocktail advertised on the Web did not arrive. Our servers seemed confused about who was taking the table, picking up leftover settings after we had been there a while and made a reservation for two. Our drink and food orders were not taken swiftly, and refills were very slow in coming. We were not in a hurry, but the service was a slower pace than leisurely.

During the We Live To Eat restaurant week in NOLA, I hit 5 restaurants with friends & family members including Cafe Adelaide, Galatoire's, Commander's Palace, Antoine's, & The Pelican Club. Cafe Adelaide rated #1 of the 5 with amazing food & impeccable service. I had the shrimp & grits & the melon mojito salad and both were extremely flavorful and delicious. I liked it so much that I even ordered close to the same at its sister restaurant Commander's but it didn't even come close. The Pelican Club rated #2, Galatoire's #3 (but terrible service), Commander's #4, & Antoine's #5.

Looking for an undiscovered gem in New Orleans? Here it is! Several factors led us to reserve at this restaurant: its location near the casino, its availability on a Sunday evening, and the knowledge that its young chef and barmeister were schooled in the Brennan tradition. We were delighted with our experience. Particular highlights were the Absinthe barbecued pork chop, the roasted brussels sprouts in pepper jelly, and, from the cocktail menu, the Wild Magnolia (with magnolia bitters in it, no less!) Service was young, punctual, hip and smiling. Across time, we've eaten at all the major league restaurants in New Orleans; this one deserves a place on that list.

The restaurant is undergoing a makeover. The smell of paint was overwhelming. The former tiger-striped painted walls are now so glossy white it almost hurts your eyes. Hopefully, its just a primer. I don't go there for the ambiance, albeit it rather nice normally. I go there for the food; monthly. The lunch specials cannot be beat. The service is very good.

My cousin and I shared two appetizers - bacon crusted oysters and the shrimp and tasso corndogs. The oysters were a bit bland and i didnt taste the bacon; it must've been ommitted when they made our batch. The shrimp corndogs were AMAZING!!! I absolutely loved them. My cousin ordered the white chocolate belgian waffle with a side of bacon - the bacon was crisp, the waffles were perfect. The entire dish was perfect. I ordered the shrimp and grits. There was a lot of garnish on the dish and it was a bit distracting but the overall presentation was good. The dish itself was good, I've had better at The Country Club but it's still one of the best in the city. The three free cocktails were pretty awesome also! Definitely recommend!

The staff had balloons on the table for my friend's birthday and a special desert for her. The appetizers were yummy - the shrimp and tasso corndogs and flatbread. The turtle soup is a favorite. I had the shirmp and grits and they have changed the sauce on the dish. it is now a sweet cane syrup. I liekd the previous version better. We split the white chocolate biscuit pudding - it was supposed to have a root beer syrup, but we coudl not fidn it. Overall, the service is superb.
